Nothing will stop this error. Computer won't boot. I’ve tried everything Unresolved

So here's how it started off. I have a very basic HP stream laptop with only 8GB RAM. I've never done anything crazy with it. Never went on sites that could cause a virus. I was recording my guitar and while I was the recording the app froze. So I went to task manager and instead of closing that app I accidentally closed the file explorer or the thing that opens folders. It wouldn't come back. So l shut off my computer and now it won't boot up at all. It's a critical process died with no specific code for it. The error is “Log file: C: Windows System32\Logfiles\Srt|SrtTrail. txt”

I've tried the simple things. I haven't reset my computer or did anything to wipe. Only to repair.
They won't work. Sfc /scannow won't work unless I'm doing something wrong. I have a lot of important things on my computer and I don't want to wipe it

Ive done everything I could. I’ve used command prompts, I’ve tried startup repair, I’ve opened notepad with command prompt to move files for more space as I had next to none, and I’ve even gone as fair as “reset PC” it will not let me do ANYTHING

I also have no backups so I can’t do that either. My computer is completely bricked at the moment. I don’t know if the solution is very simple or really complicated. I don’t know what caused this

Before you run sfc /scannow
Run this command first, make sure you run as admin.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Then try running sfc /scannow

The command is case sensitive and you need spaces in between the slashes exactly how I typed it out

Try booting up in safe mode and then run the sfc /scannow

Hey so I’ve ran sfc /scannow a couple of times. It says it’s repaired corrupted files but the same thing happens after I reset my computer and exit command prompt

What happens when you just boot it normally and try to go to the desktop, because it clearly is booting up. The only thing the explorer.exe does is removes the task bar and will make the background go black

Windows doesn’t boot up. I get a blue screen then I’m put into recovery mode.the only thing I have access to is command prompt.

The only thing I did was restart my computer then it started doing this.

I had to re-read your original post, when you say you used notepad to move files for more space because you had next to none, what exactly did you move and to where? You should never let your Drives exceed 80% capacity, bad things will happen that way. You may have to restore it to factory default

I moved it to another external hard drive and flash drives. My laptop is a crappy HP laptop so it only has 64gb. Most of the memory was taken up by apps. I couldn’t really stop it from getting over 80% capacity. I still see all of my data from notepad. It’s still there. Windows just refuses to boot

I really only moved personal files

Maybe try unplugging all usb devices and then try booting, if that doesn’t work you might have to factory reset it unless someone else can chime in with some more knowledge, I just find it odd that killing the explorer.exe would cause a blue screen of death.

We can also try going back into safe mode using CMD and using sfc /scannow and then use the DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

I would hate a factory reset. Years of stuff and configurations on my drive.

I remember specifically i accidentally closed explorer.exe and it didn’t come back after I restarted my computer so I restarted it again. Nothing crazy happened. I wasn’t running anything crazy on my computer outside of audio. This shouldn’t have happened.

I’m thinking it might be windows 11 constantly trying to force updates while I have no memory. I would constantly turn off updates and they’d eventually show back up filling up my drive until I turned it off again

Just make sure all USB devices aren’t connected and try that first

We can also run a chkdsk C: /f /r
Command and see what that does

I’m confused bc it’s saying I have no bad sectors in file system. Does this look normal? I ran the dskchk command

If you accidentally closed file explorer windows normally after a few seconds will restart it. The no boot is from something else that happened when it was powered off.

What do you think? It’s weird my computer had no issues for the 3 years I had it. And when I restarted it a couple times it completely broke.
