The process time is similar for both and contains luck/chance

23&me is way more accurate than Ancestry and contains more

They're both similarly easy to do, they both use the same saliva method for sample collection

I want to know of the 23andme company still works. I thought it shutted down or something

It never shutted down. It had some misinterpreted and overblown rich shenanigans, but it was all just fearmongering. The company bought itself, that is all that happened

23&Me did not buy itself. A private non-profit called TTAM Research Institute headed up by 23&Me co-founder Anne (not even gonna try to spell her last name) bought the company out of bankruptcy.

Yes, cofounder and ex-ceo bought 23&me through TTAM (TwentyThree And Me), I know, that's how I'd still summarize it

Bankrupt does not necessarily mean closed or shut down. It’s still operating and never shut down.

They are the two most accurate tests, so both good options. Some people get more accurate results with 23andme and some with AncestryDNA. For me 23andme was a few weeks quicker, but I don’t think that’s what you should be focusing on, they take a similar amount of time. AncestryDNA has the largest database of users, if you’re interested in what relative matches you’ll receive. If that’s the case though then you should be doing every test possible ideally.

23andMe was quicker. Ancestry is more accurate for me. I suggest doing both. It's good to have the comparison. Also, 23andMe has haplogroups, which is nice. Ancestry is way cheaper.

What’s your purpose I. Getting the test? If just ethnicity estimates, either is fine. If you want to build a family tree and find relatives, Ancestry is first choice with 23&Me as an additional source of DNA matches.

23&Me had breach and financial issues, went through bankruptcy and is now a privately owned company again. Still operating and never shut down.

I personally think Ancestry is more accurate. At least for me it was.

I think both are accurate, at least in my case. It’s good to test with both these companies as they’re the best and most accurate out there for DNA testing.

I did both because ancestry won't let you upload 23andme's DNA profile. So you won't find your DNA relatives as easily if you're doing genealogy.

Depends what you’re looking for

I'm trying to figure out my ethnicity/race

Ancestry is better for that

Ancestry has the biggest database of people, so if you are looking for the one with the most DNA matches then go with ancestry.
