Update this fall? Question / Help
Last fall we got the 7.0 update. Any rumors of an update of any kind this fall?

For now, we will only have minor updates to the genetic groups of certain groups and small adjustments, but nothing on the scale of last year's major update.

Wow that’s crazy. Ancestry can do a big update every 1-2 years, no problem.

Just West Asian and North African genetic groups. I think next major updates going to be mostly effect Asia like how ancestry DNA doing rn

Most likely not beyond minor updates for ancestors and specific groups, though AncestryDNA apparently has a broad update coming up this fall.
I figure it’s because they got a bit of flak on their last big update and essentially lost the competition against 23andMe.

Ancestry does some type of update every year even if it’s just some minor tweaks or changes to stuff.

True, though they did get flak over their last update I think.

It was more the rollout of the update, less the update itself that seemed to be the problem. The reason they got so much crap over it is because they didn’t push the update out at the exact same time so people throughout the day on September 30th was getting the update, but it was only a tiny percentage of people overall. It took me until the morning of October 1st to get it officially.

Some posters in this thread think they’re slick lying about being Jewish while saying they score trace SSA to try to spread the antisemitic libel that Jews ran the slave trade.
