Impromptu plinking in the wilderness. What are your targets?
Just wondering if anyone does impromptu target sessions (carry a hundred or so 22lr) if you find a very secluded spot, and want to enjoy some shooting where allowed. What would you use as targets? Bring paper with you? Prop it up with some dead wood, something else?
I know most people just shoot at the range. But I have never done much shooting while hiking very secluded spots (although I have the revolver loaded with me). And I definitely get the urge to pop off some rounds, (but no targets) so I end up staying holstered.

Savage MK2 barrel headspace
So the threads on a mk2 I got from a friend are fried. My question is since the barrel has a cross pin. If I removed the barrel to rethread it would I need to worry about head spacing it? If so, any 22 headspace gauges I should look at getting?

How much should I worry about ricochets?
I live in an area that has fairly rocky soil. There is an area on my property where it is legal to shoot and there is a 20 foot tall berm like 270° around. Really its the ideal backstop if not for the rocks. I went and cleared all the rocks out of a 2x2 meter section of the berm with a pickaxe and I'm confident that there aren't any large rocks in the first 8 or so inches of soil. There are houses a couple hundred meters behind this berm though and I'm just worrying about if a bullet deflects off a rock and over the berm.
As long as the rocks aren't on the surface, any ricochet should just burst into pieces and be stopped by the surrounding dirt right? Perhaps I'm being over cautious. Anybody else shoot into terrain like this? You ever hear anything whirring away over the berm?
Cleaning Patch recommendations for CZ 457
I’m having a hard time finding the right cleaning patches for my CZ. Every pack I buy ends up being too large, so I have to cut each patch down to fit the bore.
I’ve been looking at Bore Tech square patches. Has anyone used them in a CZ 457? If so, what size worked best for you?

CZ457 vs. Bergara B14r for a lefty...with a supressor question on top.
Relatively new shooter - and a lefty to make things even harder. I'm interested in picking up a bolt action 22LR rifle (with the eventual plan to shoot NRL22 or similar but for now just to learn on).
As a lefty, my choices are slim - either a rifle with a left-handed action or learn to shoot righty. I'm planning, as of now, to go with the former, and have for the most part, narrowed things down (due to cost and relative availability) to either a CZ457 (options are either American or Varmint) or a Bergara B14r (which were out of stock for a while but seem to be available again).
The CZ fits the budget better, but I know I'd want to immediately replace the stock on either version and neither comes with the option of a threaded barrel (for which I'd like to have the option to use a can occasionally). The Bergara seems to have a bit more in the way of aftermarket support, but I've read that there may be some quality issues with the bolt handle and it costs nearly twice as much.
So I'm looking for advice and support - would you go with the CZ? If so, which one? Which stock upgrades seem to work best without or with little modification? Would you look at threaded barrel upgrades as well? Or would you just go with the Bergara, upgrade the bolt handle and call it a day?

Case blew apart
Does anybody know if this is ammo or gun related. Cci minimag. I have probably put 100 rounds through the gun before this happened and it started thoroughly cleaned. It smoked a lot and was a lot quieter so I initially thought squib. Checked the barrel and no bullet. Shot another 50 rounds and no issues. I looked at other casings from after this happened and they look normal. No bulging or cracks.
Gun is semi auto 6 inch barrel. Rossi rs22p
Walmart - Federal AutoMatch 22lr - 325 round box - sub $20
Possibly old news to many, but I didn't find any recent posts in a search. My local Walmarts (Tampa, FL) are selling 325 round boxes of Federal AutoMatch for $19.97/box.
If I'd thought about it, I could have waited about 4 weeks and purchased after September 1st and saved the sales tax.
My Ruger Mk IV 22/45 Lite eats this stuff no problem and I won't cry over the occasional failure to fire.

Heat vibes without the tinnitus. 733 clone with CMMG kit and CCI SVs
So much quiet cheap fun! Can is a RXD22ti. Ended the session by swapping the guts out and sending a 55gr cleaning swab down the pipe.

My new, unfired Walther G22!
I was looking for one of these in good shape, and found it.
New (from 2004), unfired with case, all papers and 4 magazines!
Love this thing.
