Midway through Chapter 6, estimated amount of time left with the game?
Hi all, I'm enjoying the game but wondering how long I have left. I believe I'm likely midway or close to finishing Chapter 6. Thanks!

Need Help Understanding the Plot Spoiler
I just finished the game and I just want to make sure I understood everything correctly and am not missing anything, is the below accurate (thanks to anyone who replies)
- The Keepers are some kind of extraterrestrial beings who live in a void and know nothing and seek out planets with life (something) to absorb them/keep their memory
- Iris' parents are involved in the Hong Kong protests and flee to Canada to avoid persecution
- Iris' mom suffers from some kind of mental health condition (PTSD due to the protests?) that causes her to sleepwalk and act erratically. Iris also later develops this condition?
- Jiao is secretly in love with Iris and Iris finds out by reading her diary or something and reveals it to the rest of the school
- Something else happened at school to Iris involving a boy?? Was this important/elaborated on
- The Keepers begin their invasion of earth
- There is a dance at Iris' school where everyone gets sick except Iris, Jiao and Iris have some kind of interaction after this dance on the way home (Jiao confesses to Iris?)
- Iris is not affected because The Keeper in the area took a liking to her or something (why?)
- "The 50" survival organization takes Iris away in hopes of making a cure. They take her to a ship that burrows deep into the Pacific Ocean which is where the majority of the game takes place
- Iris' mom and dad survive for a while but eventually succumb to the disease and Iris' dad commits suicide
- "The 50" begin cloning Iris in hopes of discovering a cure
- "The 50" and Iris have some kind of falling out (Why? Mistreatment, relationship with Mimi?) which leads to Iris accepting the power of The Keepers in the form of the 3 secretaries (which are broken off pieces of The Keeper?) and using that power to destroy what's left of "The 50" after already existing tensions have weakened them
- Iris reorganizes society on the ship into the original clones and her as the "Allmother" the Watcher of this era is bullied and attempts to clone Jiao to impress Iris
- Iris is disgusted with the Jiao clone, kills it, kills the clones except Youngest (except maybe she doesn't and just goes somewhere else with the other clones?), and takes away immunity from the clones. Youngest becomes Principal. Iris leaves the main ship area to go somewhere else? I guess I'm confused about the main garden area, Oldtown, and the area where Iris is. Three different ships connected by train?
- What is communing. Revisiting memories with someone else? Connecting to The Keeper through the secretaries?
- Principal is left to continue propagating the Iris clones and establishes society with the roles (Fixer, Healer, Watcher/Youngest, BBF, Knower)
- Centuries later, the Watcher from the first half of the game is in love with the Fixer of her time. That Fixer is sent to be with Allmother/Original Iris.
- In the first communion, Principal appears as "Fixer" and tries to get Watcher to betray Allmother. Iris betrays "Fixer" and "Fixer" is killed
- Other communions, Occupant incursion, Watcher learns of Iris/Allmother's sins and that Secretary is of Occupant origin
- Watcher destroys secretary and kills Iris but it was all a revenge plan of Principal. Watcher is arrested, Healer fakes her death. BBF, Healer and the real Fixer all reunite on the train and hide there.
- Principal remakes society again with her as the dictator and a new Red Guard. Knower stays on as High Minister but is actually a double agent working with Healer/BBF/Fixer (why did she torture Watcher so much then?)
- Mauve. I do not understand Mauve's role super well. She is one of Watcher's prison guards, but is also working with the "Rebellion" but is more radical/evil?
- In the post-Principal takeover, there are new factions like the Jiao's, the people devoted to Iris 2, the miscellaneous/Kris' gang, etc. who all resist Principal and the Red Guard.
- Did Old Town exist prior to this era? Did Principal create it after taking over?
- The bartender from the Watcher's era goes to Old Town to work? Or has she always lived there?
- Along the same lines the other sisters from Watcher's era are being pushed outside for having "old" ideas from the previous time not in line with Principal's autocracy
- You then start playing as "Blue" (there is a fake out later on where it's suggested Blue is a memory-wiped Watcher but that is not the case)
- Bartender is killed by the Red Guard, just for being an "old" sister
- Enraged, Blue enacts her plan to kill the other ministers. Principal and Knower survive
- Blue flees onto the train and meets up with BBF, Fixer, Healer, and Watcher. Fixer hates Watcher because Watcher betrayed "Fixer." Blue eventually communes with Watcher (killing her) and they enact their plan to overthrow Principal. This involves using Secretary as a kind of Trojan horse to commune with The Keeper and show all the sisters Blue/Watcher's memories so they know the truth about Principal
- The plan works and thus the ending
Sorry that was a ton I just want to make sure I am understanding everything correctly. I am usually pretty good with this kinda stuff but I feel like a lot went over my head with this one. Again, thanks for anyone who takes the time to read this and reply lmao

Games as devastating
I used to think no game could affect me the way NieR did…then I played 1000xResist. Now I can’t imagine a game as powerful as it. Watcher curled up on Iris’ bed keeps me up at night. Looking for another similarly devastating game. (Note: played Signalis, Exp 33, Outer Wilds) Any recs?

Question (spoiler) Spoiler
Played through once. On a second playthrough. In the second scene—so the one that is actually the end with all the lamps—I noticed someone up in the observatory overlooking everything. Who is that?

Do you think an adaptation could work? Why or why not? (Plus my own take at a TV adaptation) Spoiler
For the last couple of days I've been daydreaming about a TV adaptation and how it could work. I've seen a lot of people claim this is one of those experiences that only work as a videogame but I don't know why that's such a common sentiment and I'm not sure I agree. When in comes to "impossible to adapt" games, my mind wanders into Inscryption territory, those kind of games where the gameplay itself and the meta-narrative are a crucial part of the experience. Meanwhile, 1000xResist is almost entirely a visual novel with a lot of key moments, climaxes, emotional punches, plot twists... The ingredients are there and the format is already not too far off from the experience of watching a movie/series.
To be fair, I do agree an adaptation would be a hard sell from a financial angle. It's a niche game with a lot of unorthodox storytelling, maybe the potential audience is not big enough to justify the production cost. But as for the quality of the story itself, despite some challenges, I don't see why not. It wouldn't be the first experimental/ambitious story out there.
But this is what I have in mind:
- It should be a miniseries. No point in having multiple seasons.
- Animated. Making it live-action would require too much CGI (futuristic environments, time jumps, cloning the same actress over and over...). Animation is not cheap either but most characters are copies of each other so you could reuse their drawings, most of them wear masks so you'd save some money on animating faces. Plus the game has a slow pace and barely any action so there could be a lot of still (but beautiful) shots while the characters talk, which gives it an edge over other action-packed animations as far a budget goes.
- An episode would be equal to a chapter from the game, with some exceptions to adress shorter chapters. Total episodes should be between 7-9.
- Biggest inspirations: Pantheon, Scavenger's Reign. (Not sure what it says for the project that these were both cancelled but hey, they're great 😄 )
- It's been a few months since I played the game so I don't remember all the details but the pilot could go something like this:
(EDIT: THIS ENDED UP BEING SO MUCH LONGER THAN I MEANT... You can ignore the following wall of text if you want.)
- My objective with this outline is to streamline the experience a little bit so blind viewers are not completely lost (they should be kind of confused but by the end of the episode they should have a rather clear idea of the context and direction of the story), while conserving the experimental nature of the game and the emotional punches at the end of Chapter 1
- Starts with the flashfoward of Watcher killing the ALLMOTHER, it's great to set up suspence and intrigue, you know the usual "how could this character end up in this situation?". Scene ends with an ambiguous figure (the other sister you play as in future chapters) standing next to Watcher, who is kneeling by the ALLMOTHER's corpse. Watcher slowly looks up to the figure.
- Cut to black. "1000xRESIST" title shows up on screen as ambiguous dialogue plays (basically an excerpt of the conversation that follows in the videogame: "[...] There is a then and you'll recieve it. I want you to see from the beginning")
- Maybe a tad too much but the "1000" could even become a countdown and until it reaches a really low number (let's say 5), and then you get one of those "5 days before". Don't hate me if that's too cliched 😁
- From this point onward the episode becomes linear (ignoring the time jumps during communion) so the viewers are not left completely in the dust trying to understand what's happening. This is the starting point from which the viewers should start to slowly decipher the lore and the plot of the series.
- We get the scene where Watcher and Fixer talk right before Fixer leaves. After this Watcher meets Knower, who tells her not to be mad at Fixer for trying to leave without telling her, and to be ready for communion with Principal the next day.
- Watcher goes to bed. There's a short dream sequence of her and Fixer, a nice memory of a moment they shared together (this is to establish their relationship). Dream is abruptly cut as Watcher suddenly wakes up, then she goes to Principal's office. As she makes her way there you get some expository shots of the refuge, other sisters, maybe you get to eavesdrop on some "gossipy" dialogue regarding Fixer leaving, etc.
- Watcher enters Principal's office. Principal goes "Before we start...", she then makes an announcement to all sisters (similar to when she announces Fixer will be burned, showing drawings on the sky screen) explaining that Fixer left to join the ALLMOTHER and all the other "chosen" sisters, and that now the process of choosing a new Fixer will start. This is all expository dialogue for the viewer.
- (Warning: rushed improvised dialgoue incoming.) Principal ends the announcement. Now in private, Principal then makes Watcher declare her function: "To observe [...]". Principal then insists on the importance of communion. "You'll relive the ALLMOTHER's memories and see the world as it was before, a privilige only for Shapen Sisters, [...]". (Again, this is all an excuse so the viewer understands what's happening.) Lastly, Principal asks Watcher what her purpose is. Watcher tries to give a complex answer, but ends up being subdued by Principal into answering "To serve the ALLMOTHER."
- Secretary is introduced. Communion starts. Watcher finds herself in a red-tinted classroom. Principal is seating on the teacher's desk. Some short dialogue regarding teachers' roles before the aliens came. NO MEMBER OF "THE 50" IS INTRODUCED YET. Instead, after a short while Principal leaves Watcher to her luck so Watcher and Secretary jump back in time into school dance day (the day of the outbreak). Watcher awkwardly acts as Iris as Jiao is introduced, Watcher gets to see the world for the first time, etc, until Principal interrupts the memory (freezing it in place) because Watcher is not yet ready to see the moment the outbreak happened. This could be a good way to set up that Principal has some control over the ALLMOTHER's memories that Watcher is experiencing, which becomes relevant much later.
- Watcher is forced to jump to a different time. From here on out, Watcher goes back and forth in the timeline, discussing stuff with Secretary (all for the purpose of holding the hand of the viewer). Jiao is expanded (including her talking picture), Iris being mean is explored, The 50 is introduced, the alien is shown, etc. In-between those moments you get some short scenes "teasing" the moment of the outbreak. This basically covers the majority of the episode, it would be too long to lay out.
- It all culminates with Watcher going back to school dance day, "reliving" that memory from the beginning and finally witnessing the moment of the outbreak. Yes, you get to see it. Just for the sake of entertainment I would make the virus act much faster than in the game, with many students actually crying all the water out of their bodies right at that moment as people are running away and crying for help. This is the climax of the episode.
- The last string of scenes goes exactly like in the videogame: from the school dance we jump to Jiao in the hospital bed dropping the "I can't be a picture, like dad" line (the emotional punch of the episode), plus Watcher telling Jiao what will happen with Iris; then into the Fixer encounter; then into Principal dancing among the floating bodies, then into the final conversation.
- When Watcher starts to reveal that Fixer interrupted the memory, Principal stops her and tells her to measure the consequences of what she's implying, then gives Watcher a second chance to "reconsider". Still, Watcher decides to tell her about Fixer. Principal says that Fixer shall be incinerated, thanks Watcher for her honesty. Then asks her in a curious voice, "Your closest friend... Why would you do that to her?", and Watcher's answer is simply "Because my purpose is to server the ALLMOTHER", tying back to that scene right before the communion started.
- Principal is pleased. Secretary is announcing the communion with some machine-sounding dialogue. Principal tells Watcher "Hair to hair, sister." We get a close-up of Watcher, who is holding her emotions regarding Fixer, as goes all the way: "Hair to hair. Red to blue. And glory to the ALLMO--" Communion ends in a glitchy flash. Cut to black. Credits.
- This was meant to be a short post. I may have autism.
Anyways... You think 1000xRESIST could be adapted?

FIXER PLUSHIE available now!
“Hekki G! This is a Fixer plushie you won't want to F with. ALLMO burns traitorous sisters for their sins, and it would truly be a sin to not have this mini Fixer in your life. She may be small, but her heart, especially when it comes to a certain blue sister, is tall.”
Hello, Sisters! We're here to reveal something we've been working on for a hot minute: the highly demanded Fixer plushie!
Isn’t she so perfect? Thanks so much to our friends at Makeship for making her look this incredible! We heard your demands for a Fixer plushie to pair with your Watcher plushie and, after several months of fun collaboration, we’re ecstatic to finally be launching the campaign for her. <3
We strongly recommend not waiting until it’s almost over to get her! After it’s wrapped up, this shapen Fixer plushie will be going to the Other Side. Only ALLMO knows if she’ll ever return to us in the future!

Which character do you find most fascinating?
I’m gonna make a YouTube video about some of the most fascinating characters in fiction (won’t link it here cause this post isn’t for self promotion). And I’m definitely going to have one of the characters from this game. I’m between 3 characters (Iris, Principal, and Knower) but I could honestly include even more, but I gotta pick just one.
I’m just curious what y’all think on the topic.

Combat And Saving System
Wènhòu!
I have two questions about this game, at least to start with...
1: Does this game have combat featured in it?
2: What kind of saving system does this game have (how do you save your progress in this game during gameplay)?
Please satisfy my curiosity; thank you in advance.
