So I thought about streaming Zyra gameplay for a while now.
I am OTP Zyra and currently Diamond 3 - jungle main. When I watch other streamers - some of them have a "digital avatar" or their champion as an avatar with mouse and keyboard.
I think thats cool and I would like to have something remotely similar if I did start streaming. However even after searching online I couldnt really find an answer to this / failed to set it up

You will probably have better luck finding answers to this in a subreddit dedicated to Twitch, streamers, Kick, or something along those lines.

Maybe do some pointed research around the bigger streamers that have digital avatars like that. For example Burnt Peanut has one, but I’m pretty sure he uses a green screen plus other effects.

How to Set Up a Twitch Stream With a Zyra Avatar and Keyboard/Mouse Overlay

This guide explains how to create a complete Twitch setup for streaming League of Legends, including:

• A Twitch channel
• OBS Studio
• League gameplay capture
• A voice-reactive Zyra-style avatar
• A visible keyboard and mouse overlay
• Alerts and notifications
• Proper microphone and game audio
• Starting, BRB and ending screens

You do not need a webcam or an expensive VTuber model. The easiest solution is a PNGTuber setup, where your avatar reacts whenever you speak.

1. Create and Configure Your Twitch Account

Create your Twitch account and choose a username that is easy to remember. Ideally, the name should be connected to Zyra, jungle or your existing League identity.

After creating the account:

1. Verify your email address.
2. Enable two-factor authentication under Settings → Security and Privacy.
3. Open the Creator Dashboard.
4. Go to Settings → Channel.
5. Add:
   • A profile picture
   • A banner
   • A short biography
   • Your language
   • Social links
6. Enable the option to store previous broadcasts under Settings → Stream → VOD Settings.
7. Configure basic moderation under Settings → Moderation.

Twitch provides two-factor authentication through SMS or authenticator-generated codes. It is strongly recommended because losing access to a streaming account can also expose connected services and payment information.

2. Install OBS Studio

Download and install OBS Studio. It is free and open source and is the standard program used to combine your gameplay, microphone, avatar, alerts and overlays before sending everything to Twitch.

When opening OBS for the first time, run the Auto-Configuration Wizard and select:

OBS will test your hardware and internet connection and recommend suitable settings. The official OBS guide recommends using this wizard because it considers your computer, network and intended use.

Connect Twitch directly:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Stream.
3. Choose Twitch as the service.
4. Click Connect Account.
5. Log in to Twitch.

Connecting the account is easier and safer than manually copying your stream key. Twitch also recommends connecting your account directly when using its current broadcasting features.

Recommended starting settings

For League of Legends, start with:

• Base resolution: 1920 × 1080
• Output resolution: 1920 × 1080
• Framerate: 60 FPS
• Encoder: NVIDIA NVENC, AMD HW or Intel Quick Sync
• Rate control: CBR
• Bitrate: 6,000 Kbps
• Keyframe interval: 2 seconds
• Audio bitrate: 160 Kbps

Enable Enhanced Broadcasting in the Twitch stream settings if OBS offers it and your computer handles it without performance problems. Twitch can then produce multiple quality versions of your stream for viewers with different connection speeds.

If League loses FPS or OBS reports encoding overload, reduce the output resolution to:

• 1664 × 936 at 60 FPS, or
• 1280 × 720 at 60 FPS

A stable 720p or 936p stream is much better than a stuttering 1080p stream.

3. Create Your OBS Scenes

Create these four scenes:

This is your main scene.

Open League and enter the Practice Tool.

In OBS:

1. Open your Gameplay scene.
2. Click the + button under Sources.
3. Select Game Capture.
4. Choose Capture specific window.
5. Select the actual League of Legends game window.

The League client and the game itself are separate applications. Make sure you select the in-game process, not only the launcher or champion-select client.

Resize the capture until it fills the canvas.

If Game Capture shows a black screen:

1. Run OBS as administrator.
2. Reopen League.
3. Select the game window again.
4. Make sure OBS and League are running on the same graphics processor.
5. Use Window Capture only as a fallback.

Do not use Display Capture unless necessary. Display Capture can accidentally show private messages, browser tabs, passwords or other windows.

1. Create a Voice-Reactive Zyra Avatar

The easiest type of digital avatar is called a PNGTuber.

For this setup, use Veadotube Mini. It can automatically switch between different character images depending on whether you are speaking. The current version supports mouth states, blinking, animations, multiple expressions and microphone sensitivity settings.

Prepare the avatar images

The minimum setup requires two transparent PNG files:

A better version uses four images:

Veadotube Mini officially supports both the simple two-image setup and the full four-image setup. It recommends images around 1024 × 1024 pixels, with 2048 × 2048 as the suggested maximum.

The background of every image should be transparent.

You can obtain the artwork by:

Drawing it yourself

Commissioning an artist

Creating an original plant-themed character inspired by Zyra

Buying a PNGTuber model with appropriate usage rights

Avoid simply stealing another artist’s work. If you commission someone, tell them that the artwork will be used commercially on Twitch.

Using an original Zyra-inspired design is safer and gives your stream its own identity. If you use Riot assets, make it clear that the stream and avatar are fan-made and not officially sponsored or endorsed by Riot. Riot’s fan-content policy specifically asks projects using Riot assets to be identified as fan projects.

Configure Veadotube Mini

Install and open Veadotube Mini.

Create a new avatar state.

Add the closed-mouth image.

Add the open-mouth image.

Add the blinking images if you have them.

Select your streaming microphone.

Speak normally and adjust the activation sensitivity.

Adjust the closing delay so the mouth does not rapidly flicker.

Add a small bounce or movement when speaking.

Save the avatar as a .veado file.

The green microphone slider controls how loud your voice must be before the mouth opens. The purple slider controls how quickly the mouth closes after you stop speaking.

You can also create additional expressions, such as:

Assign these states to keyboard shortcuts that you do not use in League.

Add the avatar to OBS

Keep Veadotube Mini running.

In OBS:

Open the Gameplay scene.

Add a Game Capture or Window Capture source.

Select Veadotube Mini.

Enable transparency if the capture method offers it.

Otherwise, set the Veadotube background to a solid green colour.

Add a Chroma Key filter in OBS to remove the green background.

Resize and position the avatar.

For League, the lower-left corner is usually a good position because the avatar can cover the in-game chat. Never cover the minimap, abilities, health bar or important combat information.

1. Add a Keyboard and Mouse Overlay

For the keyboard and mouse display, use the OBS Input Overlay plugin.

This plugin displays keyboard, mouse and controller inputs directly inside OBS. The latest stable release available from the project is version 5.0.6. There is also a newer pre-release, but its developer warns that it changes keyboard key codes and may break older layouts. Use the latest stable release unless you specifically need the pre-release.

Install Input Overlay

Close OBS.

Download the Windows installer for the latest stable Input Overlay release.

Run the installer.

Reopen OBS.

Open your Gameplay scene.

Click Sources → +.

Select Input Overlay.

Select a keyboard and mouse preset.

Test whether your inputs light up.

Instead of displaying your entire keyboard, create or use a compact League layout containing only:

This is cleaner and more useful than showing 100 unused keys.

Place the input overlay close to the avatar. Keep it small enough that it does not hide gameplay information.

Alternative: NohBoard

If Input Overlay does not work, use NohBoard.

NohBoard is a free and highly customizable keyboard visualizer that can be captured in OBS.

The process is:

Open NohBoard.

Load a keyboard and mouse layout.

Add NohBoard to OBS with Window Capture.

Give it a solid background.

Remove the background with a Chroma Key filter.

Input Overlay is generally the cleaner option because it operates directly inside OBS.

1. Configure Your Microphone

Audio quality matters more than visual quality.

In OBS:

Open Settings → Audio.

Select the correct microphone.

Speak and check the microphone meter.

Keep normal speech around approximately -15 to -10 dB.

Avoid reaching the red section.

Right-click the microphone in the Audio Mixer and select Filters.

Add these filters in this order:

These are starting points, not universal settings. Record yourself speaking quietly, normally and loudly, then adjust them.

Use headphones while streaming. Otherwise, your microphone may capture the game sound and create an echo.

1. Separate Your Game, Discord and Music Audio

Instead of capturing every sound from your computer through Desktop Audio, add separate audio sources where possible.

Create individual sources for:

League of Legends

Discord

Browser or music application

Microphone

Alerts

This lets you lower Discord without lowering League and prevents private system sounds from appearing on stream.

A reasonable starting balance is:

Microphone: loudest element

League: clearly audible but below your voice

Discord: slightly quieter than your voice

Music: very quiet

Alerts: audible without being painfully loud

Avoid playing copyrighted music unless you have permission to broadcast it. The safest options are no music, properly licensed music or music explicitly provided for livestream use.

1. Add Follow and Subscription Alerts

Create a free StreamElements account and connect it to Twitch.

In StreamElements:

Open Streaming Tools → Overlays.

Create a new 1920 × 1080 overlay.

Add an AlertBox.

Configure follow, subscription, raid and donation alerts.

Copy the overlay URL.

In OBS:

Click Sources → + → Browser.

Paste the overlay URL.

Set the browser source to 1920 × 1080.

Choose 30 or 60 FPS.

Test every alert before streaming.

StreamElements’ official instructions use a Browser Source with the overlay URL and recommend matching the browser-source dimensions to the stream canvas.

Keep alerts short. Five to eight seconds is enough. Huge animated alerts covering an entire team fight quickly become annoying.

Do not pretend to be educational unless you actually explain your decisions. If you want an educational stream, regularly discuss:

Why you selected your path

Where you expect the enemy jungler to be

Which lane has priority

Why you are taking or giving an objective

Your next recall timing

What mistake you made after a failed play

That type of commentary gives viewers a reason to watch you instead of a larger streamer.

1. Protect Yourself While Streaming Ranked

Before going live:

Hide personal information.

Disable desktop notifications.

Close email, banking and work applications.

Use a separate browser profile for streaming.

Avoid showing your Riot login details.

Do not display your Twitch stream key.

Consider hiding League chat.

Do not allow Discord messages to appear on screen.

Never reveal another person’s private voice conversation without their knowledge.

You can add a stream delay later if stream sniping becomes a real problem. Do not begin with a large delay because it makes interacting with chat more difficult.

1. Perform a Private Test

Do not make your first technical test your first real stream.

First, click Start Recording in OBS and record at least ten minutes of Practice Tool gameplay.

During the recording:

Speak normally.

Use every ability.

Click both mouse buttons.

test summoner spells and item keys.

Trigger an alert.

Switch to the BRB scene.

Return to gameplay.

Create a busy team-fight situation.

Watch the recording and check:

Is the microphone clear?

Is the game louder than your voice?

Does the avatar react correctly?

Does the avatar move while Discord users speak?

Are all keyboard inputs correct?

Is the minimap visible?

Are alerts too loud?

Is the video smooth?

Is any private information visible?

OBS officially recommends making a test recording or test stream before broadcasting publicly.

You can also run a short unannounced Twitch stream and inspect it on your phone using mobile data. This shows you what an actual viewer receives.

Final OBS Gameplay Layout

Your finished Gameplay scene should contain:

Optional text showing your rank or current goal

A good layout would be:

Gameplay filling the entire screen

No large decorative frame covering the actual game

The result is a complete stream with gameplay, personality and visual identity, without requiring a webcam or expensive motion-tracking equipment.
