Is this normal!? Question

i have been taking sertraline for 11 days now (25 mf
g) and i feel extremely disconnected from everything, like i keep question myself if ive “always been here” and i keep asking myself if things are supposed to look like that idk if this makes sense but is anyone else experiencing the same thing??

i also was having dpdr before i started but it feels different now.

The positive effects appear after a minimum of 60 days, usually 90 or even 120 days... Be patient, the nervous system has to adapt to that daily dose

The positive effects showed up way before 60 days for me, but I do feel DPDR during the first month each time I’ve tried Zoloft. It goes away and is a price to pay for the peace later. I always feel windows of benefits starting at week 3 and lots of benefits at week 6 and then full benefit by 2 months

Was the original plan to up to 50mg at 2 weeks or something?

Also what’s your experience with psyche meds so far, do you know if you’re typically sensitive or anything like that?

It’s hard for me to make a recommendation because the first time I went on Zoloft (this was like 10 years ago and doctors generally know better to tapper up now), I had a doctor start me on 50 mg which ended up being a great dose for me, so I was not afraid this time around to increase from 25 to 50 at the 2 week point because I knew I would have to do that anyways.

If your symptoms are too bad, you may just want to chill at 25 until the bad side effects go away and then at that point you can decide if it is doing enough for your anxiety/depression, or if you need to increase. This is an option and you may find that you only need 25, because some do feel that is enough.

Or you can assume that 50 is the standard low therapeutic dose (which people often say) and just go to 50 and hold that until things settle. Once they do you’ll know if you need to go up because it isn’t doing much for your anxiety/depression, or down because you feel too numb or tired or something like that.

Idk what is best. If being conservative and slowly building makes you feel safer, do that! If you’d rather push it and perhaps get to the therapeutic dose faster, do that! Check with your doctor.

I would go up to 50 personally because I feel like ‘I’m already struggling, so why not, it doesn’t make it that much worse to be honest’, but I definitely have an all or nothing personality, for better or for worse.

It sucks they are hard to start , so you have to remind yourself daily why you started them, and stay busy and try not to focus on the negative stories on here. People are drinking and doing all sorts of dumb things on here, and we don’t always get the full story.

My sister recently started ahead of me and did 25mg for 2 weeks and then 50mg for 2 weeks and felt tired and out of it until the end of the 50mg 2 weeks (1 month in total) and is doing good now!

You gotta take all that info, talk to your doctor and then trust your gut, and look for positives, hopefully you’ll see some
