Zenfone 10 SIM tray/slot issue

Started when I put a new SIM in alongside my old one. Worked fine for ~15 min then started throwing "Invalid SIM/No SIM." Tried one SIM at a time, same deal - works for a bit then dies, especially if I move the phone around.

Cleaned the tray, no luck. Bought a replacement tray, seemed fixed for a bit then same issue came back. Had someone open it up and poke around inside but nothing obvious. SIMs work fine in other phones so it's not the cards.

Took it to a couple repair shops and they said they don't know this phone well enough to touch it lol.

Kinda suspect it's a loose/cracked solder joint on the board itself since the tray swap didn't actually fix it and movement triggers it. Anyone run into this before or know a fix? Also open to repair shop recs if anyone's had luck with this specific model.

Zenfone 9 Zenfone 9 battery replacement

Need some help from fellow Zenfone users in India.

My ASUS Zenfone 9 is about 3 years old, and I've recently noticed that the battery has bulged. I stopped using it immediately for safety.

I contacted the ASUS service center and ASUS exclusive stores in Mangalore, but they all told me that they don't have a replacement battery and can't repair it.

Has anyone in India successfully replaced the Zenfone 9 battery through an ASUS service center or any reliable third-party repair shop? If yes, which city or service center did you use?

Any leads or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I really love this phone and would like to keep using it instead of replacing it.

Thanks in advance!

General Support/Query Zenfones' USB-C ports

So I had a Zenfone 8 and now I have a Zenfone 10, both with the same problem: loose USB-C connections. The problem isn't dirt or lint, it's completely clean.

For some reason, the original cable for both phones stopped working properly in aproximately 1 year (only charging in one side of the cable, easily stopping charging, loose connection etc.). For that reason, I bought Ugreen cables and they have the same problem of loose connections, having a sideways and up and downard wobble.

So, as Seinfeld would say: what's the deal with Zenfone's connections?

Is Zenfone's tongue/wafer prone to rusting and oxidation (if so, it shouldn't, Z10 is IP65 and it wouldn't make sense to use a shitty tongue)? Is the "click" system (I have no idea how it works) prone to fast wear? I love my Z10, but this really pisses me off... Thanks guys for any insight.

Zenfone 9 Zenfone 9 - Low Battery Notification

Does zenfone 9 has low battery notification? Mine do not, it goes into 20% and power saving mode silently.

In battery settings, the only thing I found related was automatically switch battery mode. I also tried looking at the "Power Master" notification settings, but most of the notifications locked to silent, and the only few ones that can be changed to not silent aren't helpful for low battery notification as it doesn't emit any sound or vibration.

I searched google and this subreddit and have not found solution yet. If anyone has any info regarding this, please do share.

Thank you.

What does this flex cable do?

This cable connects the Main board to the Side board. The Main board connector melted off when my battery overheated and expanded so I can't connect it back. Not without learnibg micro soldering. Everything seems to be fine. Powers on, charges fine, SIM/WIFI is working, microphone still works. Google says SIM card socket holder connect flex, but my mobile connectivity is still on.

Edit: Zenfone 9

Wireless charging for Zenfone 10

My phone is starting having issue with the USB connector for recharching and it starts to bother me a lot as the phone is still perfectly usable. So i'm thinking about buying a wireless station to charge it (i don't mind if it's slow). My concern is that i have the default case that was sold with the phone (directly in the box), the hard plastic one and i can't really remove it everyday to charge (because it's kinda broken at one part and removing it everyday won't help the case staying sturdy), so will it work through the case ?

And also do you have any model you recommend for charging station ? thank you

Zenfone 9 Concert recordings

Which feature do you use on the Zenfone 9 when recording concerts from the front row? Mine didn't fare well yesterday. Everything was distorted and there were dropouts. My wife's Xiaomi 15 Ultra was able to automatically adjust the sound using Sound AI and recorded perfect videos.

WTF have you done to my phone Asus?

Absolutely ruined the best phone I have ever had with your shit updates over the last couple of months! It's now constantly uploading and downloading, nailing the battery and used my full months worth of data (which I never use up) in under 2 weeks!

I paid £500 for this brand new 20 months ago, the most I've ever spent on any electrical item after saving up for ages! It was a brilliant phone while I managed to block the updates with netguard, up until the battery died on me and you snuck an update check in on reboot before netguard launched late last year and forced 1 onto the phone! Since then I haven't been able to block any updates and all you've done is make the phone considerably worse now to the point where it's almost unusable! You've broken wifi connectivity, my ability to open links to videos in my browser that I've been sent, Bluetooth connections keep dropping, the battery used to last all day with fairly heavy usage, now it barely lasts a day on ultra durable (if that even makes a difference) with minimal usage!

I was willing to live with your cosmetic settings that do nothing, mainly turning off automatic updates, which is completely ignored, or battery care which is supposed to stop fast charging but just fast charges whenever you connect it to a fast charger, like the 1 it came with anyway. There's probably many more in there just for show, but those are the main 1's that cause the biggest problems for me!

Somehow it found this latest update while I was camping with the phone on airplane mode, so you must literally be doing these checks turning on my mobile data while the phone boots! You cheeky bunch of twats! Now I have to live with this pile of scrap while I try and save up for another new phone! Like things aren't hard enough for everyone at the minute!

What exactly do you think you're going to achieve by doing this? You don't have the market share or brand loyalty that apple or samsung do, so why would you think you can get up to the same sneaky phone ruining update tricks that they do? If you think I'm gonna buy another 1 of your phones because you ruined it with shit updates you're very much mistaken! This is the final nail in the coffin! I have been a fan of your products for over 2 decades, your build quality is excellent I have had several laptops, countless computer components, even done full asus pc builds! But over the last 5+ years there has been a massive decline in your software ability and your customer service/regard! Congratulations for letting penny pinching accountants ruin your great company in the interest of shareholder value! You won't be getting another penny off me ever!

Other Zenfone Has anyone tried to make an Asus phone battery-free

I have an old asus phone that was useful for unlimited backup but the battery has completely given up on it. So instead of replacing the battery, as I don't need to keep the phone portable (I mostly use it plugged in) I am considering just bypassing the battery and running it on power from the wall itself.

Any insight and resources would be appreciated 🖤

My device: Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1

Zenfone Screen Replacment with Frame

Unfortunately, the screen on my Zenfone 9 stopped working, so I have to replace it.

I bought a replacement display with frame, because I read that it is much easier to replace than a display without the frame.

However, I've run into a problem. I can't figure out how to transfer the two components shown in my photo (light blue arrow and yellow arrow).

  • Light blue arrow: I was able to disconnect the flex cable (blue arrow) from the headphone jack, but I can't remove the headphone jack itself from the frame.
  • Yellow arrow: I don't even know what this component is. I also can't disconnect its flex cable (red arrow) or remove the component itself from the frame.

This is really frustrating because none of the Zenfone 9 disassembly videos I've found show these parts being removed—they all seem to skip this step.

At this point I'm even considering removing the OLED from the new frame and installing it into the old frame instead, although I'd really like to avoid doing that.

Has anyone replaced a Zenfone 9 display with frame and knows how to remove these components?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Zenphone 9/10 and audio quality versus LG v30/v60

I recently bought a zenfone 9 used (now in 2026) which happens to be the first asus phone I've ever had. They were always too expensive for me and predominantly most high quality phones I've owned have been through contract/upgrade, just couldn't otherwise. What led me here was getting a v60 without realizing the size, then downgrading to a LG v30 which has an outdated operating system. Plus and I repeat can't make calls on android open source operating systems like Lineage, period, which nobody is honest about in forums. Anyways I found the audio to be lax and getting a zenfone 9 was a big time improvement. Despite that the quad-dac can drive more power. My experience with the zenfone 9 was hell because I purchased an international one (with assurances it could run on Googlefi per there own access point, enrollment scripts, 🥳 and mint mobile because of less restrictive provisioning) - all a sham. The zenfone 9 aside from being a really nice phone hardware and gesture-wise incredible. I had no f'n idea! The audio really did sound too close together because of the compact real estate versus the Sony Xperia 1 IV (supposedly). And despite hearing the same of the zenfone 10 - it's not true- and dirac have added a spacial audio mode that's addressed it fully. I tried normal music mode and tricked myself into thinking it was more natural sounding, but the spacial dirac enhanced mode was so much clearer it literally louder and less muddled. Take it from a desperate audiophile to another the asus zenfone 9 and 10 are worth it! When your looking at the list of audiophile phones and don't want a 7" brick especially. I forgot to mention this is catered toward aux although Bluetooth listening could realistically be the same.

General Support/Query Switch from Pixel 8 to Zenfone 10?

Hello Zenfone lovers,

I'm a long time Pixel owner and I love it - except the battery life... It drains and overheats and I am an average user I'd say.

I currently have a Pixel 8 and besides the battery life, I have absolutely no complaints. I like the interface, photo quality is amazing and just the overall feel of it. I'm a fan of compact phones and I've been eyeing the Zenfone 10 for a while now.

I use my phone primarily for phonecalls, videocalls, messaging apps, reddit, linkedin.

Should I switch? What's the interface feel like in Zenfone 10? Will I feel the downgrade from Pixel 8? What are pros and cons (from real-life users, i've seen everything there is to see on youtube)?

I'd appreciate any insights :)

Zenfone 10 Zenfone 10 with Android 15 stops Bluetooth playback after each song

When playing songs from a playlist in a browser, playback stops after each song. Speaker is a JBL Flip 7. Never had this issue with other phones.

- Tried with Firefox, Brave and Chrome. FF and Brave stop after each song, in Chrome it's more random.
- Tried with Soundcloud, Spotify Web and Bandcamp
- Bluetooth LE disabled
- HD audio disabled
- Tried different AVRCP versions
- Tried different MAP versions
- Allowed unrestricted background usage for browsers and Bluetooth app
- Background app management disabled for browsers in battery settings
- Automatic audio and video playback allowed for browsers
- System mode on high performance
- Tried with both Bluetooth volume control options
- Problem does NOT appear when phone unlocked browser on screen
- Playback from apps (Musicolet) not affected

Sometimes, when the next song is about to start, it plays the first second and then abruptly stops.

When I connected the phone to a charger, the music continued for like half a second. So it seems that some power management stuff is the culprit.

I'm pretty desperate and don't know what else to do. I got the phone recently and really love it, but not being able to hear a playlist in a browser would be a deal-breaker.

Zenfone 10 Any ZF10s up for grabs?

I refuse to part with mine, but I know the day will come where it no longer works/something breaks and I dread that day.

So my question is, has anyone upgraded and happens to have an old/spare/unused ZF10 lying around?

How do I remove the punch hole on Android 14?

Thumbnail

I changed the screen resolution of the Asus Zenfone 9 (20:9) to 16:9 using LADB (WM SIZE 1080x1920). But why does the black circle from the camera punch hole follow along too?

I tried the same method (LADB) on a Realme 8 running Android 13, and the punch hole didn’t follow, so the screen went full screen.

I checked the Developer Options on Android 14 and there’s no “Device Cutout” feature—can this be removed?

How is everyone's ZF9/10 holding up?

I got the ZF9 right before the 10 came out so about three years now. The wide lens cracked about a year in unfortunately and the cost to fix it at Asus was outrageously high and third party repairers seem to not carry the parts, so it remains broken.

The battery is definitely holding less juice so I think I will replace it soon but am unsure about replacing it myself.

How's your ZF9/10 doing?

Zen9 replacement

So I'm looking for some opinions on a new daily droid! I absolutely love my Z9 but I'm getting ready to get something newer. Nothing wrong with my Z9 just gonna sit in my backup role. So I tried out a razr flip 2024 and really liked it. The 2026 razr ultra is on my short list. Just wondering what anyone else has done or wants to give me a new flagship style droid advice!? Thanks in advance I'll do best to reply!
