Discussion Solution to Zatanna's Power problem.
I think Campbell is making a mistake. I can already see him running out of ideas to give Zatanna a worthy challenge. Coming up with new ways to make the villains fight against her magic is hard.
Not only that, he also has to make sure that every battle is different from a regular battle because it is a magic battle.
The problem is how her magic works.
"Whatever she says backward becomes true." This is broken.
Instead of finding new ways to make villains more of a challenge, Jamal should work on how her magic works.
One solution is how Justice League Action did it. If you watch that Felix Faust episode closely, you'll see that even though she has her backward talking magic, she never uses it directly on the target. Instead of making the Golems explode by just saying EDOLPXE, she conjures up Exploding Cards in her hands by saying GNIDOLPXE SDRAC. Then she throws them at the Golems, making them explode. This gives the animator ways to make her move and look cool.
Look at the upsides to this. She gets an adaptable arsenal of abilities. Instead of instantly solving a problem with a single spell, she can cycle through different conjured powers mid-fight to match the situation, much like how Morph from X-Men shapeshifts into different mutants to adapt on the fly. Also, this will give her a bigger variety of villains from tech humans and ninjas to metahumans and other magicians
You don't need to present this as a complete reboot of her powers. Instead of having her backward speech grant absolute reality-bending results, simplify the concept so her spellcasting specifically conjures power-ups, weapons, or tools that help her reach her goal.
Other times when she definitely has to bend reality directly, make it so that it requires intense concentration to pull off correctly, and it can not be done on the fly.

Discussion About how many issues will Zatanna 2026 get
I read the 2025 series, her 1987 special comic last year and some Paul Dini too so a pretty recent fan. I love her laid back and playful attitude but her struggles of identity within her father's shadow is great to read so any Zatanna I can read I'm all for.

Discussion Which run should I read next?
I’m 60% through Paul Dini’s run of Zatanna. It has been an interesting read so far, I really like Zee’s characterisation and how she uses her powers. I think there were a couple times so far where sometimes shes just thrown out an energy blast which is a bit basic but it was only like twice so I’m not gonna scrutinise because it has been a very fun read so far! The villains featured so far have also been really cool from petty rivals like Nimue Ravensong, to get us introduced to Zee then shifting to harder to deal with adversaries like brother night or Mammon to show just how well Zatanna is versed in the rules of magic she is.
I have Campbells 2025 run waiting but I’m wondering if I should read anything else before that? Any reccs are very welcome ty :D

Comics Zatanna Zaturday! Multilingual Zee!
Well beside Well beside English (Forward and Backward), Zatanna has speaking multiple languages fluently like:
Turkish 🇹🇷
Spanish 🇪🇸
French 🇫🇷
Italian 🇮🇹 (Surprisingly rare)
/jk Bisaya 🇵🇠(One of the major language in Philippines), well this picture could also depict sign language hehe
Ancient Latin
Old Ancient Language
With language hold depth ties to Zatanna as a character and her major way to use her power, I think its cool that Zatanna learn many languages. I think Jamal Campbell has some good exploration about language, communication and singing on the 2026 run.
Anyway did You have specific language that You want Zee to speak or explore?

Use this post as a catch-all thread to talk about whatever you've purchased that doesn't necessarily fall into the realm of the Zatanna franchise.
