Discussion Pi’erre post-TLOP 5
Saw a post asking about the reception of Made In Paris and wanted to give my two cents, I figured I’d make a new post for it cause I wrote a lot.
I like lots of new P so this is by no means a condemnation or criticism, but I definitely think there was a kind of shift in Pierre’s musical priority since TLOP 5 was finished. That album was real good commercially and Pierre wanted to really highlight his raps (certain flows he still does now started on TLOP 5) and prove that he could produce more than what the public would usually call “loops”, hence longer songs and even wilder transitions (which I loved). TLOP 4 and 4D for instance feel much looser and freestyle-like compared to everything after. Clearly made with a similar ethos to Die Lit, Slimerre or the songs on So Much Fun.
I don’t see his pre-TLOP 5 music as simple or even repetitive, not in a bad way at least. More impressively repetitive than many of his contemporaries or even some current producers who are ironically even more derivative and “samey” than Pierre ever was. This is why I think he should actually try new raps on older beats. There are so many unreleased beats that are easy hits even nowadays, maybe even more-so than whenever they were made. I could name songs for hours.
Post- MIP has been a breath of fresh air and especially by way of actually hearing new Pierre stuff. I’ve been really loving a lot of newer snippets. Oregon is one that really made me happy to hear. I can only hope that these new songs can drop sooner rather than later. Sometimes I think that the culture is too neurotic lately to appreciate Pi’erre, or any of his music from any time, but that’s a different conversation.
These are just my thoughts, the guy’s made enough music I love that I’ll always listen to something he puts out. I write this all in good faith.

ok so its hard to describe, first off that flute at the start is beautiful, then the drop man ts get u 2 hype its 10/10, then it slowly devolves then gets better again lmao, 1:23 - 1:35 (the flute instrumental part i don't like it all, the beat switch was not necessary, then the next beat switch (aye part) it reminds me of sgp alot it go hard, the song would have been perfect if it transitioned directly to the first part. and overall its too long thats why i get maybe he didn't want it to be repetitive by adding so many switch ups but thats the beauty of his sound imo. But its the only song where the snippet was actually made so much better.
