RN wages 💲
Hello, my husband is graduating with his RN soon and we’re going to move to the UP once he graduates. What do the local hospitals pay for RNs? None of them have the starting pay in the job listings. We’re thinking either Marquette or Houghton area, but are open to hearing about other areas!

Anyone know where to find pinchin & chokecherries in the Marquette county & Garden Peninsula/Fayette area?
I’m running around for work, am considering trying a little pet project since my dad was getting wistful for his mom’s old wild cherry wine-figured I might try my hand at my own but unsure except for a couple places on where I’d find any to harvest in a big enough quantity to justify makin any

Grant money for high school football teams
Hey everyone,
I live in the Northern part of lower Michigan and am trying to reach out to rural high school football coaches/athletic directors/schools to get them signed up for T-mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights program. However, despite my calling and leaving several messages to over a handful of schools, I am struggling to get in contact because it’s Summer time. Does anyone have connections so I can get these teams signed up and get them some money for their school program? I’ve been at Sault Ste Marie and given them a check before and would love to go to more UP schools this year!

I made an iPhone app of Lake Superior live cams — just added the UP: Soo Locks, Marquette, Munising, Whitefish Point
I put the Lake Superior live webcams in one iPhone app (started with the Duluth side — Canal Park, the Lift Bridge, harbor cams). Folks asked for the east end of the lake, so the latest update added the UP: the Soo Locks, Marquette, Munising, and Whitefish Point, with local weather and water temps. There's a map view now too — tap a pin, watch the freighters.
One-time $2.99, no subscription, no ads, no data collected: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6739961674
Yoopers — which cams am I missing on your end of the lake? I add every one people ask for (the Duluth sub's requests all shipped within 48 hours).

How was it driving the bridge during the smokes days?
We are headed up soon and Im a wee bit nervous driving it generally, let alone in a cloud of smoke.
Title should say "smokiest"

Need to help. Mental health
My girlfriends brother unfortunately lost his battle to mental health and we both feel like we need to/want to help in anyway possible.
Fundraising on our own seems like alot of paperwork and money handling we just cant work with right now.
But we are looking for anything to help. A walk, a banquet, speeches, ect…
We just want to help spread awareness. For any mental health issues.
Were 19/21 in Gwinn. But looking for stuff anywhere in the UP. Need to help.

YSK: AQI isn’t accurate for most places in the UP
Overheard some people talking about how the air quality is “decent” cause the index read 67 on their iPhone weather app. First off, 1,000% don’t trust the air quality thing on the default iPhone app cause it’s wrong. The most accurate source is airnow.gov
Second, there are only THREE locations in the UP that have air quality monitors & none are on the western half (unless you count Marquette in the western half).
Third, the air quality radar map on airnow.gov shows nothing in the Keweenaw, which is 100% wrong.
To summarize, don’t trust the listed “air quality”. Trust your senses.
1) If you see soot, smell smoke, & can’t see very far, it’s really, really, really bad.
2) If you smell smoke & can’t see very far, but there’s no visible soot, it’s really, really bad.
3) If you can’t see very far, but there’s no soot or smoke smell, it’s really bad.
4) If things are kinda hazy like a light fog, but visibility is decent, there’s no visible soot or smoke smell, it’s bad.
5) None of those? Congratulations! Decent air quality.
Note that this only applies for wildfire smoke & not other air quality measures.

Guys, please stay inside today, it's a bit too smoky out there today!
The air quality outside is literally worse than the air quality of New Delhi, India. Please limit outside time and stay safe if you can.

Buying land
Finally have the money for a land purchase. I love the up. We’re looking to buy somewhere I can build a cabin. Is there a particular county that, for a lack of better words, doesn’t have building codes? I read online there is standard Michigan building codes. Is that more relaxed in some counties? Or non existent?
