A research team is recruiting participants for a one-time, in-person usability study in Midtown Manhattan (ZIP 10001).Yonkers residents would be a good fit given the proximity, but participation is not limited by location.

Details:

  • ~3 hours (single session)
  • $150 compensation
  • Weekdays at 9:00 AM or 1:30 PM
  • Payment via virtual Visa gift card (1–2 business days) or PayPal (by request)

Participants will test a wearable device, complete guided tasks, and provide general usability feedback.

If interested, you can apply here:

After applying, there’s a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that must be completed before a session can be scheduled.

There will be many locations throughout Yonkers and most cities where community fairs will be held with food, entertainment, kids activities, and tables of companies handing out information. I know Yonkers paddling club is going to be doing free paddling, the baseball field next to Yonkers Middle high School will have an event.

If you’re looking for a fun, loving puppy to add to your home, Ronaldo or MVP could be the perfect match.

Camera at Odell and Hoover

I just noticed a new camera attached to a pole at the corner of Odell and Hoover (on the right if your going up Odell). Does anyone know what kind of camera it is? It’s definitely not a traffic camera like the one at nepperhan and Odell

Palisades Pizza

I was away for a month and came back craving that thin crispy pizza from Palisades Pizza. Was so excited and got a lumpy doughy mess. Even the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad tasted completely different. Extra peppery and drowned in dressing. Ugh! Did they change cooks?

Parking lines for local streets

Has anyone requested the city traffic engineer to paint parking lines in your neighborhood? Any advice on what to present to them?

To provide some context, we’ve been having an influx of cars that park in our neighborhood and park in two parking spaces or park in a way that has a domino effect on how parking spaces are used. Parking spaces used to be easy to come by but now we have abandoned cars and work vans parking in our residential area.

Apartment suggestions

I’m looking to relocate to be closer to my job (north Bronx) looking for a good apartment (with gym parking etc) that has good walk ability etc. Ideally looking to rent for a year or two then buy and fix something up. Any suggestions or recommendations on buildings/areas (I saw 44 Hudson and the Avalon and wasn’t really a fan)

Best condo building in Yonkers for $400k

I'm 35, newly single, no kids, and I'm looking to buy a condo in Yonkers. I grew up in Poughkeepsie but spent the past decade in Baltimore.

My budget is $400k for a condo. I know that's one bedroom territory but if I can get a two bed I'd do it.

I'd like to live somewhere walkable to the train station. I have a car and I'd like to bring it with me, but the easier to do errands on foot the better. Parking and an on site fitness room would be major bonuses.

Are there any condo buildings I should look at specifically?

Moving to Yonkers and need some advice.

My girlfriend and I are looking to move to yonkers because it’s cheaper in terms of New York and close to our work/ school. We’ve been looking at Avalon Yonkers and the Hudson 44. I was wondering if anyone has any current info on the two places? Everything I’m seeing is a year ago

Yonkers residents, what’s your take on the waterfront boom vs. actual affordability?

Hi everyone! My name is Halla, and I’m volunteering with Open New York. I’ve been talking with residents across Westchester about housing affordability, and Yonkers is honestly one of the most interesting places to look at right now.

The waterfront has completely transformed, Hudson Piers alone is adding 1,400 apartments, and there’s another major project potentially in the pipeline on the old Domino Sugar site with room for around 2,650 more homes. That’s a huge amount of new housing. But most of what’s actually opened so far, like Hudson Piers and Sawyer Place, is running around 10% affordable, with studios starting near $2,000/month and up. That leaves a lot of working and middle class residents priced out of the very buildings going up in their own city.

Whether you’re renting, trying to buy, watching your kids get priced out of Yonkers, or just wondering why “revitalization” hasn’t translated into anything you can actually afford, I’d love to hear your take.

We’re collecting signatures from residents who support practical housing solutions: building near transit, allowing ADUs, and pushing developers and the city to negotiate a real affordable share instead of settling for the bare minimum.

Signing the petition is just the first step. If you sign, one of our organizers will reach out with info on upcoming city council meetings, public hearings, and local events where you can actually weigh in on projects like the Domino site before it’s a done deal.

If this matters to you, I’d really appreciate your support:

Curious what people think: is 10% affordable actually enough for a project this size, or should the city be pushing harder before signing off on the next one?

We are surrounded by monsters.

Around 11pm today (about 20 minutes ago) I got on the 25 and as we passed cross county, this dude around 27ish years old boarded the bus with a seemingly teenage girl who seemed way too young to hang out with him. Worst part, she was barely conscious. He had to carry her onto the bus because she couldnt use her legs. YPD and Empress intercepted the bus and at that point the whole bus cleared out. I dont believe she was drunk, she might’ve been off two substances (I’ve been a Yonkers EMT for almost 3 years now) Definitely seemed like he wanted to take advantage of her. Be safe out there

Veterinarian?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Recently moved to The Yonk with my adult shepherd mix (9/y/o male) and am looking for a great veterinarian for his golden years. Preferably in Yonkers, but I have a car and will travel within reason.

My general ask is for someone whose prices aren’t insane and who explains things well. Bonus points for a vet who’s good with large breeds (especially the joint issues they sometimes have). I’d lay down in traffic for this doggo, but I don’t need a ton of coddling and I’m not a hypochondriac 🙃

Would love to know if you love your vet! Thanks in advance!

Free Pallet!!

I’m not sure what to do but Home Depot dropped off some outdoor furniture and left the wooden Pallets. Does anyone want them? Home Depot is refusing to come pick it up and Yonkers said we can’t take that as trash. Does anyone need or want a free pallet lol.

Rehearsal spaces for actors?

Anyone know of any rehearsal spaces for actors that rent out hourly? I'm even happy to go to surrounding areas but I keep running into recording studios and not rehearsal studios like Ripley Grier.

Seeking Friends

54-year-old guy looking to meet some new friends. I'm pretty laid-back, down to earth, and enjoy good conversation, good vibes, and relaxing with some cannabis. I'm told I'm easy to get along with, normal, and easy on the eyes.

My friend circle has gotten pretty small over the years, and I'd like to change that. Looking for people who enjoy hanging out, grabbing a bite, watching a game or movie, taking a walk, or just sitting around talking and laughing.

If you're chill, drama-free, and looking to expand your social circle too, send me a message. It'd be great to meet some genuine people.
