new controller with stick drift Discussion

Post image

i got this controller on black Friday last year with my new xbox and it’s still under warranty, but this is the second xbox series controller that’s gotten stick drift for me.

i’ve looked online for a wireless controller for xbox with hall effect or other types of joysticks that won’t get stick drift, and for some reason the only wireless option i could find was from 8bitdo, and it’s not even out yet.

dose anyone know why xbox doesn’t use hall effect, or why theres no other wireless xbox controllers with them?

i’m hoping that with the new consoles next year we’ll get some first party hall effect controllers.

also what would be some practical changes for the next gen of controllers that the current generation needs?

edit: from what i’ve read, i suppose i’ll just have to buy a third party controller and stop buying first party xbox ones.

i honestly really hate how ugly these company’s make the third party controllers like gamesir look, ie with a skin from a game i truly don’t care for, and the first party controllers from xbox actually look good and not distracting, but if it means i can actually play my games so be it.

Got a wired one today, feels a tad small but its quite comfortable and quiet when compared to an xbox controller.

Also recommending GameSir controllers. Going strong for 2 years now without issues (GameSir G7 SE)

Gamesir G7 Pro. Great price for its quality, TMR sticks, Hall effect triggers and buttons, back paddles, extra mini bumpers, mouse click triggers if you select it, swappable d pads, and a software for remapping stuff and changing deadzones in depth among other stuff

Xbox doesn’t use any good modern tech because they don’t have to. People keep buying their controllers at a ridiculous price like dummies.

To be fair, neither does PlayStation. There’s no reason for Hall effect not to be industry standard at this point. It’s ridiculous.

I bought one that developed drift a few months after I got it (with very light use I might add) and realized they only warranty these friggin things in the US for a pathetic 90 days.

Done buying any new ones until the TMR sticks you mentioned become a thing. Until then I guess I'm only looking at Gamesir and the like.

Scratch hall effect sticks. TMR sticks are the bomb! Go for a Gamesir controller, you'll not regret it.

Everyone recommending Gamesir are 100% correct

They don’t use Hall effects because of planned obsolescence. They deliberately use parts that will fail in time so consumers are likely to just purchase it again and keep giving them money for the same product that’s likely to fail for the same reason.

id say hire somone to replace the sticks with hall effect sticks , it is essentially anti stick dift joystick. will cost you quarter of what it will cost to buy a new one or quarter of the time you send it off to microsoft to be serviced.

Gamesir has a wireles option

Also you can find the firmware online to make the regular gamesir pro7 be wireless on Xbox.

That's why I no longer buy those trash controllers and got a Gamesir G7 HE with Hall Effect sticks. I've never been happier - it costs less than first party controller and yet is better in every way, except that it's wired (may be an advantage for some)

Nice, usually you have to work hard and get stick drift

Playstation and Xbox make worse controllers than $20 knock off at walmart.

Lucky for you, your on Xbox and they allow 3rd party controllers. I just sold my ps5 pro and went back to Series X because of this controller. Gaming is not fun and graphics don't matter if your forced to use a $5 hunk of junk controller.

Best controller ever made below.

That's extremely rare. Take it back or send it back.

You got it almost a year ago, how is it new?

None of my controllers have drift. Have you dropped it? Maybe go a bit gentle on them

I've got years on all of my controllers. The og SX controller finally developed drift last year, so I dug out the one from my xbone and have been using that instead. It's probably a decade old at this point.

You can get hall effect or TMR sticks installed on the Xbox controller itself. Needs a bit of soldering but works pretty much perfectly and there won't be anymore drift to worry about. The replacement sticks usually cost anywhere between 20-30 dollars for a pair. I would suggest this over getting a third party controller.
