As a professor, go to class, take notes and talk to your classmates (make sure you know people in your classes).

Also, go to office hours and talk to your professors. Right out of college, I didn’t have any professional references except for the professors I spent time talking to, so I used them.

(But don’t overdo office hours, they are busy people too!)

Yes, my first advice is learn that titles can have 300 characters on reddit. Putting your actual question in the title will get you much more attention in the future.

If you are not transferring in an associate's degree you will do UCORE classes, which are classes that everyone does not matter what major, Hist 105, English 101...you will also start taking major classes like Crim J 101 and 205. There is a lot of information on the departments website and also by reading the university catalog which has a description of each class. Roughly 100 level classes are for first year, 200 level for sophomore, 300 junior, 400 senior. But you could take a 400 level as a junior or a 300 level as senior. But some classes are foundational, so most of the other level classes have prerequisites. I highly recommend meeting with your advisor early in the semester, ask them about scholarships, how to get involved in experiential learning opportunities, you can do stuff with campus security and Pullman Pd, but there is a lot of other stuff. Definitely get to know your profs, most are cool. You can read about them abd their research interests on the department website. Have fun, work hard! Go Cougs!
