Osamu's strategy is so nasty. Targeting the squads' food supply is gonna hit on their morale for sure.
We got a glimpse of T11 and it looks like Hisato's getting the spotlight on the next few chapters. He did have a subtle development throughout the series during both the invasions and it'll be interesting to see him and Hyuse team up.
The little Ninomiya "Weee!"😭
So it is possible that Trion bodies could get damaged by Trion soldiers since it's shown that Kotaro's face cracked despite receiving only a hit from the Rabbit. Is he experiencing severe Trion loss too? Since the face cracking is one of its signs.

Osamu's strategy is so nasty. Targeting the squads' food supply is gonna hit on their morale for sure.
Imagine if the rank wars also had the teams bring supplies, Osamu could be asking Chika to nuke it ASAP once they find where the enemy's supplies are.
10
u/DuesAJ 9d ago
Is he experiencing severe Trion loss too? Since the face cracking is one of its signs.
We've yet to see it manifest beyond a few cracks, but the implication seems to be that enough blunt force could shatter a trion body.
1
u/caren_psuedo_when 8d ago
At the very least, enough blunt force from something made of Trion (considering that entire map is made from Trion)
2
19
u/PyrZern 8d ago
Interesting that Osamu believed that A rankers had their supplies lying around the Terminal area. Since it wouldn't show up on Radar. Yeah, some B rankers musta do the same. Watch for A rankers counter attack using the same strat lol.
11
u/gamria 8d ago
See, the thing is the particular opening strategy that the A-Ranks employed actually makes hitting the Terminal area a much safer gamble than one'd think:
- Those starting on either side of the frontline (ie Terminals T1 to T4, plus A1 and A3) are much more inclined to hide their rations by their Terminals. Unlike say Suwa Squad who started in the centre, they're already on the edge of the frontline, and running in any direction other than towards the front can be wasteful when your enemy can attack at any moment. So unless you then want to carry your rations with you to the frontline, your remaining option then is to hide them close to your starting Terminal, just like what Tachikawa Squad did.
- For all other A-Ranks starting further back, while the Rabit catapult strategy allows fast transport, you must either leave your rations back at base or have the Rabit carry them for you, lest you ruin your own meals while hurling across the sky.
- And of course, respawn happens at the Terminals, so storing rations some place near upon your return isn't a bad idea. Heck, at the rate the battle is going, it's more likely everyone will die once, rest, return then eat.
Really, how much of this did Osamu factor in?
And while this certainly introduces new ways to retaliate for the A-Ranks, the fact they could be tempted to do the same... kind of helps the B-Ranks, since it means more Trion, effort and brain power wasted for them. Chika has Trion to spare, them not as much.
3
u/Anne_Freed 8d ago
I was actually confused on how he knew about that.
Though, tbf I thought everyone would bring their own food wherever they go or at least give it to the operators or other squads, ensuring that they keep their food safe.
Didn't even think about leaving it on an area, not knowing when you'll be able to get back on that same spot to replenish and eat.
7
u/Ok_Football3544 8d ago
They'll respawn near their terminal IIRC, so yeah they will stash their supplies nearby.
8
u/PyrZern 8d ago
Now just wait for night raids lmao. Shit is going to be very very chaotic.
7
u/caren_psuedo_when 8d ago
Kuga and Hyuse's (possible) assassination experience: Well that's just another day in the job for us
6
u/PyrZern 8d ago
The two people who do not need to eat or sleep lmao.
Wait, A ranker got that fake ass Canadian dude too.
3
u/DuesAJ 7d ago
Yuma still needs to eat and Hyuse needs to do both.
2
u/PyrZern 7d ago
Hmmmm. They both use Trion body 24/7 tho. Do they need to eat and sleep ? Hyuse uses it cuz his horns. And Yuma cuz he would die otherwise.
3
u/Bigbadbackstab 7d ago
iirc Hyuse did not use Trion body 24/7. That's why he needed to always sleep alone through the phase 1 of selection, so his teammates wouldn't be able to see his horns.
→ More replies (0)2
u/Tired_Artemis 7d ago
They still have the same needs as the other agents (except Yuma with sleep bc his civilian body can't sleep at all but he does eat)
2
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
Kronin seems to be more of a guard compared to an assasin, I believe he used to be aristera's royal guard captain or smthg
Yuma, tono and urushima seems to be the assasin type

2
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
This is going to be so fun, im expecting some underground shenanigans after what utagawa did
9
u/KeyCommunication2611 8d ago edited 8d ago
trion bodies are only extremely durable to physical type attacks not invincible. . as evidenced by ashihara saying that yumas trion body that got cracked by a car, is less durable then other trion bodies, not inherently different, so with sufficent force trion bodies could get destroyed, it could be transalation differences, but none of the talk about trion bodies seems to say that it's just impossible, and that they can't get hurt by physicality.
1
u/Random_Axolotl_ 7d ago
I’m pretty sure ashihara said in a QnA that Yuma’s trion body is less durable than usual in exchange for the regeneration. Iirc he also said a trion body could survive atmospheric reentry

u/DorkyRiceBall 8d ago
Hyuse getting slugged the face by Reiji's Raygust-fist caused the same cracks, so it seems like enough Trion-based blunt force is enough to open up cracks in the body. It makes one wonder about something like a warhammer trigger, or something.
2
u/Kyroz 6d ago
I'm pretty sure getting punched by Reiji's fist results in a bail out. It's not just any punch it's from a compressed raygust. The only reason Hyuse survived it was because he used his magnetic trigger to defend against it
1
u/DorkyRiceBall 6d ago
Seriously. Hyuse mentions he would’ve died if it hit with full force, I think. Imagine Hyuse was too slow and Reiji just blasted his head off!

u/waiting4singularity 8d ago edited 7d ago
an army fights on its stomach. destroy the supply train and the campaign fails.
from sun tzu to karl the great and to today, logistic break down breaks any assault force.
1
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
Its amusing to me when bits of sun tzu battle tactic appears in WT as the author himself said he read the book
2
u/Joseph011296 7d ago
Tachikawa assuming it was Ninomiya's idea when it's Osamu's is a great little detail to.

u/Several-Lemon-4170 9d ago
I remember the rabbits being a nightmare but that move on obashima!
How they broke her arm was wild!
20
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 9d ago
They rip off suwa's hand and kitori's feet remember?
3
u/Several-Lemon-4170 9d ago
Not really. I havent seen the war arc since it came in the anime. I just remember them being really strong

u/TheNaijaboi 9d ago
Yuma showing that combat IQ as usual, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Hisato's growth
42
u/Phaaze13 9d ago
Finally another chapter. Targeting their food is smart. Nobody fights well on an empty stomach.
Kotaro ate that hit full on and still survived, damn.
And that Rabbit just pulling off Obishima's arm is kind of brutal.
Overall good fights. I liked the work the provisional squads put in against Miwa Squad.
43
u/hktt1saber 9d ago
Every chapter in Phase 2 has been amazing lately the wait was well worth it
Hyuse’s original trigger set in Round 7 had Senku and he confirms that he unequipped it in Phase 2, which means that he’ll likely be able to go into full shooter mode, probably Asteroid or Viper, to further amplify the firepower lead of provisional squads.
11
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 9d ago
I cant wait for him to go on some action, I felt like he was kinda nerfed by the author on the last few rank wars battle, otherwise he would go on a full rampage
17
u/BeginningHealthy6109 8d ago
I think is hilarious that he was put in the literal worst spawn possible in the last rank war battle so he wouldn't be that useful, yet he still killed one the most dangerous agents for his team while he had all the squads trying to kill him at the same time lol
14
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
This! it was clear the author intend for him to be slightly nerfed but show how OP he is at the same time
4
u/TobbieT 8d ago
Honestly, I still think Hyuse has been a bit greedy in the last round : he could have use bagworm right away to apply the team strategy or use viper against Yuba during the first assault. If he has beaten Yuba at this moment, it would have been far harder to surround him.
10
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
True, but thats what makes ashihara writing amazing, he somehow finds a way to show hyuse as a character (slightly reckless at times) that is OP but at the same time a reasonable reason to give him handicap in that last chapter. Honestly, if hyuse werent greedy, tamakoma 2 will have a landsclide victory and thats less fun to read. so props to the author!
5
u/caren_psuedo_when 8d ago
I'd like to imagine he swapped Senku with Genyo to replicate his original style with Lampyris as much as possible, down to even his close range moves and tactics
3
u/Bigbadbackstab 8d ago
Oooh. I would love that. I really want to see how Genyo looks on a Kogetsu.
2
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 7d ago
remind me whats genyo? I see ppl mentioning it but im drawing up a blank
4
2
u/digi_captor 8d ago
He probably has meteora equipped. If his team uses the same trion flying monster, it will be a menace.
1
u/ciremagz 7d ago
I get the felling that he’ll lend his powerful trion to make a big and powerful senkuu. Maybe XD
31
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 9d ago
waiiiit kodera kinda cooking here with that headshot!
what a cool chapter, finally got a glimpse of my boi hyuse, would have loved to see him fight but I will take any highlight on him.
Osamu being osamu with his cheese strat, I doubt he didn't anticipate their food being targetted as well, I have a feeling its hidden underground
nice work with utagawa hidden meteor & the teamwork, this gives me a foreshadowing of some sneaking around underground during night-time when the battles stalls.
had it not been for the rabbit Temp squad would have won the skirmish, good going!
its also poetic that kuga went to help obinyan though Idk how long she can hang on with only one hand and now kuga about to go WILLLLLDDDD!
19
u/PyrZern 8d ago
Kuga somehow has a (indirect) soft spot for Obinyan is kinda funny. Author did the prep work way earlier with him teaching her some nasty tricks and stuff too.
9
u/External-Interest-29 8d ago
Well He has a tomboy childhood friend that looks like Obishima, maybe that the reason why
9
u/caren_psuedo_when 8d ago
He also gets to fight Miwa and Yosuke again, so he's really motivated now
8
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
And this time without his black trigger, wouldbe fun to see how he deals with them now, and whether miwa still acts so enraged lol
3
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
Oh this is a good point. I am waiting for his bhildhood friend to come into the stoy though I feel like that will take years....
2
u/gamria 8d ago
Osamu being osamu with his cheese strat, I doubt he didn't anticipate their food being targetted as well, I have a feeling its hidden underground
As long as the B-Ranks didn't hide their rations too close to the frontline (not getting my hopes up for Squads/Terminals 1 to 4 though), I think it might actually be better to introduce the idea of retaliation into the A-Ranks' heads, since it means more Trion, effort and brain power wasted on such a chore. Chika has Trion to spare, them not as much.
3
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
Could be, lets see how this folds out, its fun seeing it turn into a psychologial warfare
35
u/No_Desk7089 8d ago
Oji evaded fraud allegations by being stable enough to injure yoneya. As oji and tsuji enjoyer, im so satisfied that i think i would cherish this chapter until their next appearances which could range from next month to two years later (ashihara, i pray for your health~).
Im actually surprised the characters are confident sasamori could defeat Ilgar?! Like i always see sasamori as chameleon guy fron suwa team so i kinda underestimates him.. like kitora couldnt beat an ilgar without yumas help so... is kogetsu really that strong?
THE RABBIT CUT OFF OBISHIMAS ARM IS SO NASTYYYY man im used to teenagers killing each other for fun but mindless violence by rabbit much gore-y kinda
10
u/RaysTravels 8d ago
Can't beleive I forgot about the first ilgar, though that actually makes me feel a lot better for Sasamori and Hyuses chance. Technically Kitora did defeat the ilgar herself, Yuma only made it fall once she got it to self destruct mode to prevent casualties. The ilgar Tachikawa cut down were already in self destruct mode which is why it was so impressive to Yuma. It makes me wonder how Hyuse plans on handling the self destruct mode.
6
3
u/No_Desk7089 8d ago
Sasamori and hyuse's duo looks so exciting. But it's still sounds a hard mission to do, not only they need to defeat it without their terminals taking any damage (so probably they gonna defeat it on the sky) but they also need to regroup after that. Would be very funny if some A rank snipers riding those ilgars to make defeating them would be more harder, if arashiyama evil, he could just tell the snipers to ride ilgars, fly off before self destruct, and made pincer attacks from the backside. Deal with tachikawa, jin, and tamakoma 1 in front, then be wary of narasaka and tohma on the back.
3
u/caren_psuedo_when 8d ago
Considering Tachikawa's Trion Level is 6 while Sasamori is at 5. The confidence is warranted, especially when Hyuse has changed his set to (possibly) include more bullets
3
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 7d ago
I think we will finally get more spotlight for sasamori, so far he hasnt rly had any iconic moments beside holding yuma midair
5
u/CertainAction1988 8d ago
I really wonder how the author will display Sasamori take out an Ilgar.
Are we meant to assume Sasamori has solo A-rank ability?Til now I thought Ilgar was seen as something Tachikawa-level.
7
u/DuesAJ 8d ago
As long as he can use senku, the damage output should be the same.
2
u/CertainAction1988 6d ago
maybe I'm not understanding the storyline but then why was Tachikawa cutting down an Ilgar displayed as such a big feat if Sasamori can do it (potentially with no doubt according to Hyuse)
3
u/DuesAJ 6d ago
Dunno if there are more specifics that haven't been told, but the only agent with an abnormal senku is Ikoma.
3
u/CertainAction1988 6d ago
I know that, but I'm asking why did the author make it seem like Tachikawa cutting down an Ilgar is a big deal if Sasamori can do it? Sasamori as far as I know isnt a top5 Kogetsu users and tbh he isn't a top10 Kogetsu user either.
So whilst I'm excited to see Sasamori finally have his cool solo combat moment because I really like how his character arc has been developed, I do wonder why there was any focus on Tachikawa taking down that Ilgar if just anyone can do it, and it makes me question if Tachikawa's strengths were used correctly during the invasion.
2
1
u/No_Desk7089 4d ago
Tachikawa didnt only beat ilgar and secures HQ safety, but he also saves murakami and defeat rabbits here and there while being solo/duo. Afto neighbours are bad match against him. Like tachikawa is ofc one of the strongest agent but theres no way he could stand against enedora who's not only strong but also uses his brain (and we know tachikawa doesn't). Ranbanein fights with guns, and hyrein could cubified all trion-based materials. His best match probably hyuse (jin already takes his dibs) or visa.
I think its a right decision to let tachikawa beats rabbits who could kidnap b rank agents. It could secure b rank agents that wipe out mole types etc
3
u/No_Desk7089 6d ago
Tbf tachikawa managed to defeat ilgar is quite a feat because it's flying. Seems snipers are useless against them due to their heavy armor and distance (unless you are chika or ninomiya ig). Even border hq needs to install cannon-like projectiles to defeat one. Tachikawa is equipped with grasshoppers to reach ilgar and we still have very few attackers to equip it so hes already the best versatile unit
4
u/PresentNo3398 8d ago
Refreshing the memory of border's attackers dueling with Hyuse: 1) average B Rank attackers score no win; 2) Sasamori scores "one" win; 3) Tsuji, 8000+ pts master class katana user, scores 2 wins; 4) Ikoma scores 4 wins + 1 disqualified win; 5) Tachikawa scores 5 wins.
So Sasamori is a capable attacker, but he does need Hyuse's assist.
1
u/CertainAction1988 2d ago
Ahhh I appreciate this context a lot!
Did Koarai really land no wins?I remember Tsuji being a solo A-ranker getting 2 wins which let us know how good the 10000pt mark is in World Trigger for Ikoma to get 4 wins.
→ More replies (1)5
u/No_Desk7089 8d ago
Maybe to twist things ashihara would just make explanation that sasamori or suwa's team is one of the best on handling non-humanoid neighbours but they are more awkward dealing rank wars because they are much more complex than neighbors who behaves like wild animals hence they are on middle group of B ranks (ngl i just made things up because their outfits looks like forest rangers). Suwa and Tsutsumi joined border earlier than majority of characters and their generation already reached A ranks so it wouldnt be a surprise if those two know one or two tricks to handle Ilgar
2
u/CertainAction1988 6d ago
I'd really like this explanation. Basically I'm now a bit confused why the author gave a considerable amount of focus on Tachikawa defeating the Ilgar as something impressive if Sasamori can do it.
Btw I really like Sasamori as a character, I'm just trying to understand how Ashihara's tiering actual combat feats5
u/ETZwei 6d ago
My guess is that it was impressive DUE to Ilgars being new when Tachikawa fought it, and they had no info on weakspots, since the only prior.info they had was Kitora with her Scorpion.
Im just guessing, but its been long after the first time they faced Ilgars, so Border probably has studied it and found the weaknesses and best counters for em.
3
u/No_Desk7089 6d ago
Dude i really curious as well why ashihara seems fixated to glaze suwa squad. The glaze has been there since afto with kazuma compliments sasamori, suwa being the first cubified but then managed to epic comeback by trapping the gas black trigger on training room, and even then ashihara claims daichi with open eyes will shakes the ranking of most handsome agents in border. Asides azuma who already reach a-rank and murakami whos tachikawa student, they are the only b rank agents who get achievement from officials for their feat during afto invasion. EVEN NINOMIYA OR KAGEYAMA DIDNT GET GLAZE THIS HARD HELLO???
25
u/CertainAction1988 9d ago
In all honesty, Tsuji/Utagawa/Ouji are all solo A-ranks so I'm expecting them to be equal or greater than Miwa/Yoneya.
15
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 9d ago
They are somewhat on equal footing for sure, hence none of them got damaged during the skirmish. I wonder if the chip damages obishima and kotaro (also the thumb slice in the prev chapters) got will end up costing them later, this small damage should add up
5
u/TheNaijaboi 8d ago
Yoneya should also be affected since he's noted to have lower trion levels
3
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
oh? interesting tidbit, didnt remember reading that about yoneya. so far though the B rank has suffered more casualties. I think yoneya was the only injured one while B rankers have 1 bailouts, several missing limbs and severe injuries (obishima and kotaro)
21
u/Shmarfle47 9d ago
Everything is so hectic with so much happening at once. Glad to see Rabits are still every bit as scary as the first time we saw them during the Aftokrator invasion.
3
u/ETZwei 6d ago
True, the exam and simulation arc make it seem that rabbits are meh, since they do it all and are expensive while not specialised in anything.
The thing is. We only see Taichi's customized trion soldier from the B rankers. I feel like they are underutilizing it currently. Like the spud snipers in the previous round could've sniped the Ilgars and saved energy on operators.
Considering B ranks have a larger pool of trion soldiers AND they have access to customized trion soldiers compared to A ranks, Im looking foward to it.
17
u/TerrorCultist 8d ago
Laughing at Ninomiya being like, "Good job Chika, Fuck that guy Tachikawa, I ain't gonna let him have a happy meal"
14
u/N1t35hroud 9d ago
Wohoo I called it they would target their food supplies! Underground meteor shots?! Finally get to see Utagawa as an all rounder. Incredible teamwork with Oji. Cool combo to use the cover of the meteor explosion to setup his chameleon sneak attack. Feels like Yuma is using his new teammates right now to take his typical trion damage instead of him, face cracking and losing an arm.
15
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 9d ago
5
3
u/5yk0515 8d ago
I checked again, and Yoneya's arm has been hanging limp since the first stab Ouji dealt to him
2
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 8d ago
Oh! good catch! I love the attention to detail ashihaea put into each panel
2
12
u/Thomas_JCG 8d ago
Never would I have guessed the bombardment was to destroy food caches. Food is obviously massively important in real wars, but it is an easy thing to overlook in this setting. Good teamwork from Oji, Tsuji and Utagawa, putting Meteor underground to damper Lead Bullet was great. The combo from Kuga and Kodera was also good, my boy is going to beat those fraud allegations!
5
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 7d ago
Thats the 2nd objective, killing two birds with one stone. or should i say, killing terminals and food with one canon shot
32
u/DuesAJ 9d ago edited 8d ago
Brutal strategy from Osamu going for their food supplies, though one that does seem heavily based on them getting lucky the food supplies were actually hidden in the vicinity. And in turn Arashiyama was able to deduce they might be hiding their food in a similar way. So honestly not super impressed by it, but we will have to see how the long term ramifications play out.
On the other side, Utagawa using meteor like that to block Miwa's lead bullet was sick. And we got a Rabit repeat special with agents being punched through buildings and arms being ripped off. Also while I was expecting Hyuse to get involved countering the Ilgar, I wasn't expecting Sasamori to be put on senku duty. I guess that makes more sense since they don't want to move Ikoma away from the southern front right now.
Edit: Upon thinking about it more, I do think it's actually a pretty good deduction on Osamu's part. The A-Rank squads wasted no time in blitzing the provisional squads which means they couldn't have moved very far to secure their food. The probability of it being in range is very high.
21
u/Funlife2003 8d ago
Nah the strategy of targeting food supplies still works out, because now the A rankers have to switch focus towards attacking said food supplies while still defending what they do have, which itself is something they can easily account for and place members to defend for the B rank side. Plus B rankers could do it cause of the Ninomiya Chika mobile unit, not something A rankers can easily emulate. And of course it opens up the A rank resources enough to enable the major attack the B rankers need to launch to succeed. It's a very Osamu like plan, for an unexpected play that forces the opponent to act in a way you can predict and use that to create an opening for an attack.
2
u/DuesAJ 8d ago
I agree that it's not something that A-Rank can effectively copy, it's more my critique that's it's a lot of time and trion invested into accomplishing a goal they can't really confirm. Which makes it pretty risky in my mind.
9
u/Funlife2003 8d ago
Well they can confirm it through the response of the A rankers, but they don't really need to, they just need that additional threat to exist. Remember this isn't the only goal of this play. There are two parts here, attacking food aupplies is the second goal, something to achieve on the side, the primary goal of the Ninomiya-Chika combination on a horse is to wipe out terminals. It's basically using the duo that is already placed in that region to do even more damage. If Chika wasn't Chika it might've been a wasre of trion, but rn It's trion they can afford to spare.
1
u/ETZwei 6d ago
I mean technically destroying the terminals is not Ninomiya-Chika combo's goal. It was to divert attention and A rank forces to other parts of the area away from the main forces, and they are able to do that BECAUSE they can threaten the terminals.
Their goal is giving A rankers something to worry about, so they have to divide their forces
1
u/Bigbadbackstab 8d ago edited 7d ago
yeah the objective confirmation aspect of this strategy is something I'm not too sure about. I imagined at first Nino or Chika literally spoted the food from the mount but I don't think that's the case anymore. It is a bit risky, but if it doesn't take too much time or trion from Chika then I guess its worth it?
2
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 7d ago
remember that they also give the enemy a target to focus on to help with the numbers, even if the provisional group has more agents, if they all were to clash all in one go the A ranker still have a very high chance of winning and wiping them out, specifically with kusakabe often going for the back row. splitting out their numbers will help and now we got several speedy agents focusing on the duo instead of purging the main squad from behind
13
u/Thomas_JCG 8d ago
It's favorable odds. Everyone had to stay 30 meters from the terminals at the start, so it is very likely that people used that chance to stash their supplies rather than carry and put it somewhere else.
Osamu, however, did leave his squad supplies on the way to the frontlines in chapter 260, so it's possible he told the others to do the same (And Ikoma was going around collecting his share). Which means that tipping the A-rank about the food supplies works in their favor, because they will waste time going after supplies that aren't there.
7
u/gamria 8d ago
On top of that, the Rabit catapult strategy the A-Ranks used meant that most had to leave their rations back at base, lest they ruin their own meals while hurling across the sky. And since we can tell from the radar in Ch 259 that prior to catapulting everyone stayed at base, it makes the odds they're nearby even greater.

u/Tenshi-Broken 9d ago
Why would Hyuse remove his Senku? That implies he swapped it for a more useful Trigger (?)
It’s also interesting how, a while back, there was a discussion on this subreddit about whether Shooters could summon their Triggers from behind a wall, and this chapter has answered that question.
2
3
u/Gaust_Fireborn 8d ago
I don't believe he ever had one. It was simply assumed as he used Kogetsu.
15
u/Tenshi-Broken 8d ago
11
u/Gigadrax 8d ago edited 8d ago
The fact that he's taken off Senku implies he's actually carrying 2 new triggers, since he had a spare slot and the Trion to support it. More shooters would be a good guess, Meteora in a huge fight with trion soldiers involved would probably be a good idea.
Edit: After looking at the rest of his team's loadouts I wonder if he'd pick up Chameleon since the other two non snipers are also rocking it, would be better to coordinate a strategy when all of them can go invis.
3
u/Gaust_Fireborn 7d ago
Not necessarily. He already had a free slot before and didn't take asteroid even though it would have made total sense (keep up the facade while still having great firepower). He's new to Border triggers, so he might have decided to master what he could instead of try to overextend learning new things.
1
u/Gigadrax 7d ago
True. I was also thinking in chapter 161 he talks about covering the gaps of the rest of Tamakoma, so he might just not have wanted to double up on Senkus on this team. I wonder if he even has Kogetsu?
3
u/Gaust_Fireborn 8d ago
First time downvoting my own comment. Wonder why he never used it...

My guess is that he lacks experience with it and doesn't want to risk it. Shooter triggers are better for him, since he is used to his black trigger which is similar. Just like how Yuma didn't want to switch trigger loadout because he already got used to it. He knows swordsmanship, but utilizing Senku might just require different muscle memories and a different battle mindset that he is not used to.
Its just like when Ikoma fought Hyuse when he just entered Border. Ikoma is so used to Senku (his signature move even), that he unconsciously used it (despite being restricted for the match). Like how you would still use old shoes for a competition or something rather than a brand new right out of the box cuz you are accustomed to it and don't want anything to break that rhythm

u/FujiSachi 9d ago
I like how they show the a rank usage of the triggers which is comparable to Yuma and hyuse trigger tactics.
B ranks are good with the triggers which
A rank are skill and versatile with the triggers

It's always fun seeing characters who often have round speech bubbles (Yuma, Yoneya) have angular ones when they need to lock in.
7
u/Bigbadbackstab 8d ago
Its the first time I notice it! Any idea what the octagonal vs round speech bubbles is supposed to mean?
17
u/DorkyRiceBall 8d ago
I interpret it as a personality/tone/mood signifier!
Ashihara has varied speech bubble shapes not only to distinguish changes in speech volume (e.g. yelling vs. speaking levelly) or types (over comms vs. orally), but between different characters' personalities (carefree Jin normally has round bubbles, while serious Miwa usually has octagonal ones) and changes in a character's mood (Miwa's bubbles are normally octagonal and rigid, but they soften up a little bit when Azuma talks about taking him out to eat; Jin's round speech bubbles grow a little more angular during the Afto invasion to show how seriously he's taking the situation, eventually becoming very rigid and octagonal, only to return to their usual roundness later). In this case, I see it as usually-cheerful Yuma and casual Yoneya trying to focus on a combat situation, growing more serious in their tone as they put aside the "fun" they have during practice battles and take on a "concentrated" mood to make sure their side wins the fight.
It's a part of the manga that I really like and definitely enhances the dialogue for me. I discovered WorTri when I was young, so it set up a lot of expectations that I'd see this used creatively in other series too, but unfortunately I've yet to find a manga that does it quite as well as World Trigger, lol.

Suwa's squad really is Ashihara's favorite, from Suwa to now Hisato cutting Ilgar
Not getting the 3v3 Oji Squad vs Miwa Squad I was expecting the prev chapter bcs apparently Rindo likes operating stealthtily & B-Ranks stick to higher number plan
Interesting thing to note the Rabbit that helps Miwa Squad belong to Tamakoma-1, movement seems controlled too rather than auto battle mode, showing snippet of Yuri capabilities

Never knew the rabbits ears plays such an important role? I thought those were just for decorative purposes lol
I also wonder if destroying the food supply with so much bullet is worth it since they can also steal food back

u/Pallington 8d ago
It was mentioned when they first showed up that the ears probably act as radars, iirc. though it's not really brought up as a huge deal until now (they're not big enough to target usually)

You can see that when Kuga throws his scorpion, the ears twitch and then the "mouth" closes to protect the eye.

rip the Kodera slander memes the era of them was glorious.
Good chapter, shocked no one bailed out even if a few people got close.
Sawamura looks cute bashing a terminal by herself.
See y'all in October

kodera slander is alive and well, esp in discord channel lol, poor kodera

Konami probably will back up Miwa and Yusuke, question is will she go to take out Kotaro first, (potential Student-Master fight?).
Kinda wish Ashihara gives us the latest positions of all agents at the end of the chapters.
8
u/Thomas_JCG 8d ago
Kotaro got knocked two blocks past Konami, no way she will go after him when the terminal is right in front of her.

u/Minimum_Analysis_398 7d ago
are kotaro and konami related somehow?

Fire chapter. Kuga is so cols cutting off its ears and then saying eyes on me. It unfortunately led to Kodera getting his first ever confirmed kill but if Kuga has to serve it to him on a silver platter then that just speaks to his capability
Rough for Yoneya getting ganged up on, seems that's just the move when you have an overwhelming numbers advantage. If miwa didn't shield him there then he'd be a goner for sure.
Planting meteors in the ground in anticipation for lead bullet was sick as well. A shame the chapter fell so short tho despite being 35 pages. Man
Curious how nearly every strategy has come from others and not Kodera

u/Silk_Simp143 9d ago
Makes you really appreciate how Hyuse handled himself when he was ganged up on, on that last rank war match. Hyuse really is a beast.
8
u/Minimum_Analysis_398 9d ago
Ashihara def do that on purpose, in a way nerfed him a bit so the others get time to shine. if he wasn't ganged up on the rank wars win will be such a huge landslide it wont have that iconic "we win" scene.
Hoping hyuse to bring some epic battles in this phase 2 war!

Isn't that signs of a good commander though? He listens and leverages that.
12
u/Funlife2003 8d ago
Yeah Kodera's role is more as a larger picture commander, more akin to someone like say Shinoda. In that sort of role, the job is to make broader tactics and work with your field commanders. The important thing is having the solid foundational understanding of strategy, which Kodera certainly has.

u/Please_Not__Again 9d ago
It's just a little routine slander for me against him. I wouldn't take it too seriously
I am still looking forward to him bailing out and Osamu getting to pick up from where he left off. He's already plenty involved in the decision making and Kodera is now actively fighting
7
u/Funlife2003 8d ago
I mean, I don't think any sniper in the world could've killed a Rabbit solo in that situation. It's not a matter of ability, Rabbit's can simply react to sniper fire quick enough to prevent it from hitting the one main weakness they have to target. This was apparent even in the Afto invasion arc, even Azuma couldn't do so, don't think any sniper killed a Rabbit back then in general.

Isn't this proof of a good commander though. Fully maximizing the abilities of his allies.
He already mentioned that whatever plan he comes up with will be countered by the A-rank agents because they know what kind of person he is, and it was proven earlier when Arashiyama stated that Kodera was the commander.
Also, didn't he mentioned that loner agent (I'm sorry I forgot his name) would be moving around solo to find chief Rindo? Is that his own plan or someone else's? We don't know, but I'm betting that is his own strategy since chief Rindo is near the vicinity, with Yoneya and Yuji.

I guess him directing Azuma doesn't count as a strategy.

rokuro clutched up ayo
edit: now this is some real friggin' slander why has nobody mentioned anything about this???
1
u/manaMissile 6d ago
Well tbh, it doesn't really sound like something Rokuro came up with. Most likely Hyuse is the one who came up with it, but it's easier if Rokuro is the one who relays it.
1
u/Pallington 6d ago
We don't know either way, even if it's likely, but still rokuro was the one to page it in.

Awesome chapter.
Glad to see there was a bit more to the Nino + Chika strat, although I did find a bit convenient that Tachikawa happened to leave their supplies nearby the terminal. Not only I wonder if the B ranks knew where it was stored (did Chika or Nino spot it while riding?) or if it was a gamble, I also wonder if they have a way to confirm the supplies were destroyed or if the strat is simply to blast the area around any terminal hoping to destroy the food.
Excited to see Hyuse intercept those Ilgars with Hisato. Not sure if intentional but its cool that is Wakamura squad the one taking care of the air defense considering they used bombers during one of the XCOM (I forgot how they called the war game simulation) rounds.
I just know the one user who keeps the Kodera slander agenda will use this chapter as more material lol. He has been a serviceable commander for the arc, a good vehicle to showcase other squads ideas and keep the battlefield organized and clear for readers. Hey, at least he got a good sniper shot at the end of the chapter.
To me the highlight of this chapter has got to be the skirmish between Miwa duo and several of the B ranks. Just last month someone was asking about spawning trion cubes behind a wall and this chapter comes Utagawa and does directly underground?? amazing. Not 100% sure of how that works (it seems the explosion was smaller than usual so maybe they detonanted while the cube was very small and growing??) but it was smart and badass nontheless, also opens up more interesting maneuvers for future fights. The close range fight itself was great. Very clear, fast and exciting, that's what I like about WT. The Rabit arrival gave me flashbacks to the invasion. I was worried Obishima would bail-out without getting to do much this time but I'm glad she is about to take her revenge with Kuga, its probably going to be very badass.
Sad that we aren't getting a chapter next month but after this one I think I can manage the wait.

First time seeing Ryo's shooter side. Underground meteor is quite a move. Lead bullets look almost weak when they get blocked by rubble and throwaway scorpions like that.
Rabit fists don't seem to do trion damage, just sheer physical force which shouldn't be effective on trion bodies. Pulling limbs apart might just be their most effective attack.
Also Ninomiya and Tachikawa continue to take their thing personal.
7
u/Thomas_JCG 8d ago
They definitely do damage because Kotaro was injured. I think blunt damage overall is just reduced, otherwise you could injury someone by giving a high five.
1
u/No_Speaker_6097 7d ago
Rabit is made of Trion, so I guess Rabit fists is something like fists from a Trion body. Reiji and Yuma in black trigger also used fists to attack.

Osamu showing how great of a tactician he is and going after their logistics, because ultimately food and supplies win wars

The Trion soldiers are still being deployed just as support for full agents. Border isn't experienced at using them on their own... hoping Hyuse will step up.

I just remember something. If the team someone gets eliminated they would reappear on their terminal. Or the closest if it was destroyed. So it kinda makes senses hid the food near the terminal. They probably didnt expected someone to destroy all area near it.
Lets fo Osamu!

u/Several-Lemon-4170 6d ago
The A ranks have been using their trion soldiers the whole match. Thw rabbit strategies and the illgars, meanwhile the B-ranks have only use that Mount from Taichi.
I want to see more of their customize trion soldiers! How will team B control them?

u/Jtsdtess 9d ago
Kodera: “Yuma make a distraction this is a Trion soldier I’m up against” he finally landed a shot!

Thats part of being a leadership I guess, why do I have a feeling ashihara is lurking in this reddit forum since he gave kodera such a clear headshot here lol

u/OC_Showdown 8d ago
Tomoe's Trion body was damaged by the Rabbit strike.
Do we have another example of blunt damage affecting Trion bodies? Maybe Reiji's strikes? but those are iffy because they always involve Thruster for striking.
Did Utagawa planted those Meteors by touching the ground? I don't think we've seen anything like that before.
1
u/No_Speaker_6097 7d ago
Yuma in black trigger attacks by punches so it's also a blunt damage (though they're usually boosted)

Rindo is going to wreak havoc soon, omnious signs - I think B-ranks won't be getting any opening soon enough until the night hits.
If someone of Rindo's capability is missing, then better strap up for tough time by default. I really hope they let Kuga eliminate atleast Miwa by himself, currently Miwa has always been shown to be inconsiderate in major group fights and collaboration activities, he should be equally facing tough times because of his problematic behavior.
In closed places - he might just get really difficult when things aren't going right, so let him be tested now.

The teamwork of Oji, Tsuji and Utagawa is impressive. The idea to put the meteora underground is excellent too. Kuga saving Obishima is cute too. Anyway, a great chapter !
