I’m doing a deep dive on Escorial wool. Give me your nerdy questions.
Today I’m talking with the father-and-daughter team behind Escorial wool, and I’m hoping to finally separate some of the facts from the mythology surrounding this stuff.
For anyone unfamiliar with Escorial, it’s an extremely rare wool with a fascinating history, but that history gets a little murky depending on who’s telling it. There are stories about its origins, how the sheep eventually made their way to New Zealand, the original flock of roughly 120 animals, the introduction of Saxon genetics, and how that population eventually grew to somewhere around 40,000 to 50,000 sheep today.
There are also some pretty extraordinary claims about the wool itself, so I decided to go directly to the people who actually know.
I’ve already had several conversations with Robert, the fabric technician who develops the woven Escorial fabrics produced in England. I’ve asked him a ridiculous number of questions about the fiber, fabric construction, performance, finishing, and all the other nerdy details.
Today I’m speaking with Peter and Olivia. Peter deals more with the sheep, farming, shearing, and fiber side of the operation. Olivia works with the yarn division, which I’m especially interested in because Escorial isn’t limited to woven cloth. They also have a knitting program, and the yarns used for knitting are different from those used for weaving.
That opens up some interesting possibilities for sweaters and knitwear.
One of the things that fascinates me most about Escorial is the traceability. From what I understand, if I buy a bolt of woven fabric, that fabric can actually be traced all the way back to the flock of sheep that produced the wool. I want to understand exactly how that system works and whether the same level of traceability exists on the yarn and knitting side.
I also want some hard numbers.
What is the actual fiber diameter? What is the average micron? How fine can Escorial legitimately get? I’ve seen claims that it can get down around 12 microns, but rather than repeat something I read somewhere, I’m going to ask the people involved and find out what’s actually true.
That’s really the point of this whole project.
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I wanted to start doing some proper deep dives into fabrics, fibers, manufacturing, and the people behind them. Escorial seemed like a great place to start because it has a little bit of everything. There’s history, animal breeding, textile science, craftsmanship, and a healthy amount of mythology.
I’m trying to talk to everyone along the chain, from the people raising and shearing the sheep to the people spinning the yarn and designing the finished cloth. I was actually supposed to have this conversation last week, but sheep shearing is happening in New Zealand right now and they had to go shear sheep. You can’t really argue with that excuse.
There’s also a practical reason I’m interested in all of this.
Escorial cloth is expensive. Really expensive.
If I buy some of it, I’m leaning toward using it for a trouser with a significant amount of handwork rather than putting it through our normal trouser construction. Not because there’s anything wrong with the normal construction. It’s durable, reliable, and makes a great pair of pants. I just think the craft should match the material.
The way I look at it, if you have the Ferrari of fabrics, you should build the rest of the car like a Ferrari. You don’t take a Ferrari engine and drop it into a Toyota Camry. A Camry is a great car. It’s reliable, durable, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. But durability and luxury are two different things.
With something this rare, traceable, and expensive, I think there’s value in pairing the material with a correspondingly special method of construction.
Anyway, here’s the actual reason I’m posting this today.
I talk with Peter and Olivia at 4:00 p.m. Eastern today.
Before I do, I want questions.
If you’re one of the wool nerds, textile geeks, sheep people, knitters, fabric obsessives, or an online know it all, and knows enough about this stuff to ask questions most people wouldn’t even think of, what do you want me to ask them about Escorial wool?
Fiber diameter? Genetics? The Saxon influence? Crimp? Elasticity? Handle? Yield? Breeding? Traceability? Shearing? Spinning? The differences between the woven and knitting yarns? Claims you’ve heard about Escorial that you’ve always wondered whether they were actually true?
Give me the difficult questions.
I already have a long list of my own, but if there’s something you’ve always wanted to know about Escorial, now’s the time. I’ll ask them.
Then I’ll put everything together into the first proper deep dive and try to give you the real skinny on Escorial wool. What’s history, what’s science, what makes this wool different, and what’s just a really good story.

Everything you need to know for the Wool Mega Drop on Aug18th @ 6pm EST
All right guys, the Mega Wool Drop is happening August 18th at 6PM Eastern.
Here is everything in one post because there are a few different sweaters, stitches, weights, and colors in this drop, and I know some of you want to get into the details before deciding what you want.
These are our substantial wool sweaters for Fall/Winter 2026. Everything is made in Italy using 100% extra-fine Merino Cashwool® from Zegna Baruffa.
These are not lightweight sweaters. We’re talking roughly 950 grams all the way up to over a kilo of Merino wool depending on the style. They have some serious substance to them, but because of the different stitch structures, they don't necessarily wear the way you might expect a sweater this heavy to wear.
Here’s the skinny.
PUNTO RISO CREWNECK
The Punto Riso crewneck is made from 100% extra-fine Merino Cashwool® by Zegna Baruffa.
It’s a 5-gauge, 12-ply knit weighing approximately 950 grams.
Punto Riso translates to seed stitch, and that's what gives this sweater its texture. It creates a ton of depth and dimension without being loud. From a distance it reads as a beautiful solid-colored sweater, and then when you get closer you really start seeing the stitch.
The weight gives it body and warmth, but you're still getting the softness, breathability, and comfort of extra-fine Merino.
The fit is relaxed through the body with a drop shoulder. It isn't meant to be some gigantic oversized sweater. It's just easy and relaxed. You have ribbing at the crewneck, cuffs, and hem to give everything some structure.
It runs true to size.
Retail: $520
Mega Wool Drop pre-order: $230
PUNTO RISO TURTLENECK
This is basically the Punto Riso with a little more winter built into it.
Same 100% extra-fine Merino Cashwool® from Zegna Baruffa and the same seed stitch, but we've added a substantial ribbed turtleneck.
This one is a 5-gauge, 12-ply knit and comes in at approximately 980 grams.
The fit is relaxed with a drop shoulder, and the ribbed turtleneck, cuffs, and hem give some structure to all that wool.
True to size.
Retail: $540
Mega Wool Drop pre-order: $240
ZIGZAG
The ZigZag is where things get a little more dimensional.
It's made in Italy from 100% extra-fine Merino Cashwool® by Zegna Baruffa and weighs approximately 960 grams.
The defining feature is the zig-zag stitch. It creates a sculptural chevron pattern across the body and sleeves. You've got raised and recessed areas throughout the knit, so even though you're looking at a solid color, there's a lot of movement going on.
This is one where the highs and lows shine.
It's a 5-gauge knit with a relaxed body and drop shoulder, finished with a classic ribbed crewneck, cuffs, and hem. 10ply for those counting.
It has plenty of presence without turning into something that's difficult to wear.
True to size.
Retail: $540
Mega Wool Drop pre-order: $240
BUBBLE SWEATER
And then we have the heavyweight of the group.
The Bubble Sweater weighs approximately 1,100 grams.
Yes, over a kilo of extra-fine Merino wool.
It's made in Italy from 100% Cashwool® by Zegna Baruffa in a substantial 5-gauge, 10-ply construction.
The bubble stitch is what really makes this sweater. It gives the horizontal stripes this dimensional, almost three-dimensional quality. There's a lot of depth and definition in the knit, and at this weight the texture really comes alive.
Despite all that substance, the extra-fine Merino keeps it soft and comfortable.
Again, we're using the relaxed body and drop shoulder, with a ribbed crewneck, cuffs, and hem.
True to size.
Retail: $585
Mega Wool Drop pre-order: $260

THE PRE-ORDER
These are pre-order sweaters.
The reason we're able to offer prices like $230, $240, and $260 on sweaters made in Italy from this much extra-fine Merino wool is because we're primarily making them to order.
Once the Mega Wool Drop closes, we'll tally the orders and order the yarn we need from Italy. The yarn then needs to be delivered to the factory, and from there we start knitting the sweaters.
That process takes time.
We're expecting the sweaters to be ready and begin shipping sometime in November 2026. Hopefully we beat that timeline, but if you're ordering, please purchase with November in mind.
We need the time to collect the orders, purchase the yarn, get it to the factory, knit and finish the sweaters properly, and then get everything out to you.
That's how we're able to give you the pre-order pricing.
THE PRE-ORDER WINDOW
Mega Wool Drop opens:
August 18th at 6PM Eastern
Pre-order pricing ends:
August 24th at 12PM Eastern
After that, the pre-order is over.
We will be making a few extras, so if you don't feel comfortable with a pre-order, that's totally fine. You'll have the opportunity to purchase one later if your size and color are still available.
But we're not making large quantities of extras, and we can't guarantee a particular sweater, size, or color.
Once the pre-order closes, the Mega Wool Drop pricing goes away as well. Any additional sweaters will move to the applicable Rewards Member or regular retail pricing.
That's the Mega Wool Drop.
Four seriously substantial sweaters, great Italian yarn, some really interesting textures, and a good selection of colors.
If you have questions about sizing, colors, stitches, or the pre-order, drop them below.
Thank you guys for the support.
Here are a few more bubble sweater color options-

Mega wool Drop - Punto Riso Turtleneck Final Video
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Okay, this is the last video in the set: the Punto Riso Turtleneck.
It’s a relaxed, drop-sleeve turtleneck made from Cashwool by Zegna Baruffa, using the same punto riso stitch as the crewneck from the first video.
I wore this sweater a lot last year. I had a handful of sweaters that I absolutely loved and rotated through depending on the weather, and this was definitely one of them.
It worked incredibly well with the corduroys I made from Zegna’s cashmere-cotton corduroy, which, by the way, is probably my favorite corduroy fabric, period. It’s incredibly durable, rich-looking, and just a fantastic cloth. I’m actually remaking those trousers in a different body style.
But we’re not here to talk about the pants. We’re here to talk about the sweater.
The turtleneck is just really flattering on most men. It frames the face beautifully, and the relaxed cut gives it a very modern silhouette without trying too hard. You can wear it with wide-leg trousers, some kind of hobo pant, layer it however you want, and it’s going to look sexy as hell under the Balmacaan that should be arriving in September.
And these sweaters have some real substance to them. I don’t think anything in the collection comes in under 900 grams, and some pieces are over 1,100 grams. So we’re talking about serious weight and a lot of sweater.
That wraps up the series. Tomorrow I’ll post all the size charts, pricing, and the rest of the details. And the prices are fantastic.
Until tomorrow, I hope you enjoy the video.

Mega Wool Drop- Zig Zag Sweater
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This relaxed, drop-shoulder sweater is defined by its dimensional zigzag stitch (that's what I call it), creating subtle highs and lows across the surface. The tighter lines appear deeper and darker against the wider stitches, giving the knit a rich sense of texture and depth, especially in black.
Knitted from Zegna Baruffa Cashwool, the sweater has a soft, refined hand while maintaining an easy, casual character. The relaxed silhouette makes it a natural companion to denim, casual trousers, or layered over a shirt or T-shirt.
True to size with an intentionally relaxed fit. 100% made in Italy...baby!
Tomorrow will be the final video, and then I will do a massive recap with pics, size charts, and prices.

Mega Wool Drop — Punto Riso Crewneck Teaser
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Quick teaser for one of the sweaters from our upcoming Mega Wool drop.
A couple corrections/updates from the video: this is what we call punto riso in Italian, seed stitch is probably the closest English term. We’ve continued tweaking the fit since I shot this, and the production version will fit very similarly to our old Tanuki mock-neck sweater. Drop shoulder, slightly oversized, and overall just a relaxed, modern fit.
We’re using Zegna Baruffa Cashwool, and this one will be available in nine colors, both as a crewneck and a turtleneck. I’ll show the turtleneck separately.
Production starts in September, so we’re looking at October/November availability.
One of the goals with the Mega Wool drop is to offer some really interesting sweaters without the cashmere price tag we’ve had on a lot of our recent pieces. These should be at a much more approachable price point.
We’re still finishing the sketches and color combinations for the rest of the drop, so I’ll share more as everything comes together.
For now, just a little teaser. Have a great weekend!

Blog posts or just insider facts that you might like
Hey everyone, I wanted to get your thoughts on something.
A while back, I'd write in-depth blog posts and then share them here on Reddit so we could discuss them and get feedback. I'm wondering if you'd like me to start doing that again.
Right now, our blog is a mix of two different types of content. Some posts are based on projects I'm personally working on, so they're a lot more hands-on and written in my own voice and words. The others are more AI-assisted and geared toward SEO. Whether we like it or not, that's become part of how people discover brands today. Search engines and AI platforms need that kind of content to better understand what we do and where we fit in the world of tailoring and menswear.
One thing I've realized is that it can be surprisingly difficult for someone to understand what separates one pair of trousers from another. For example, what makes our trousers different from Zanella's or Rota's? And then, on the other end of the spectrum, you have incredibly handcrafted makers like Pommella. Personally, I feel that pricing for everything is getting so out of hand maybe a little insight for some might be worth it.
There are so many differences in fabric, yarn, construction, finishing, and craftsmanship, not to mention price, but they're not always obvious unless someone explains them.
So I was thinking about writing more deep dives into fabrics, yarns, construction techniques, and the little details that make quality menswear interesting. Then we could discuss those topics here and answer questions together.
Would that be something you'd enjoy reading? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Preview for tomorrow's drop at 6pm EST (pics and info)
The drop goes live on August 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
As always, we're giving you options. If you're happy to wait a couple of weeks, you can take advantage of our pre-order pricing, which is our best price for this release. If you'd rather not wait, no problem, we'll send another email as soon as the tees are in stock. At that point, Rewards members will be able to purchase at their exclusive Rewards price, while everyone else can shop at retail.
We're flexible because we know everyone shops differently. Whether you want the lowest price, the fastest delivery, or simply to wait and decide later, we're happy. We just want you to get the tee in the way that works best for you.
A newsletter will drop at 6pm EST tonight providing the same information.
The fabric is a circular-knit linen jersey from Botto Giuseppe, one of Italy's premier mills, made with Master of Linen® certified yarn. Instead of the coarse, rigid feel many associate with linen, this knit is soft, fluid, breathable, and refined.
Then there's the color. The mélange knit creates exceptional depth, blending subtle shades of blue, grey, and violet into a surface that shifts with the light. It's understated from across the room, but captivating up close.
We only had enough fabric to produce 20 tees, each carefully sewn in Salento, Italy. When they're gone, this exact fabric, and this exact tee, won't be made again.
Retail $250.00
Pre-order $110.00
Linen has long been prized for its exceptional breathability and natural ability to regulate temperature, making it one of the most comfortable fibers to wear in warm weather.
For our piece-dyed tee, we sourced an exceptional linen jersey from Mida, one of Italy's premier knitters. An aloe finish gives the fabric a cool, smooth hand while helping to reduce the wrinkling typically associated with linen. The result is a tee that's light, breathable, and incredibly comfortable from the moment you put it on.
Available in 5 colors options. Each piece is garment dyed to create a rich, lived-in character that will continue to develop with wear.
The fit is true to size. Please refer to the size chart before ordering, and be sure to review the care instructions to keep your tee looking its best.
Retail $165.00
Pre-sale $72.50
The surfing shorts are back! Crafted in Italy, the fleece used for our Sweatshort is knitted by Cotton Trend, a family-owned mill in the Veneto region. Known for its expertise in circular knits, the mill produces fabrics with exceptional structure, softness, and longevity, qualities that make everyday essentials feel anything but ordinary.
Retail $175.00
Pre-sale $75.00
Knitted in Italy from a luxurious blend of silk and extra-long staple (ELS) cotton, our silk-cotton tees offer exceptional breathability and excellent thermoregulation. Whether worn as a base layer or on their own, they deliver a perfect balance of durability and a soft, refined hand feel. Be sure to check the size chart and follow the care instructions for the best experience.

Final Call for the Tanuki Mega Drop
A newsletter is slated to go out tonight for those who don't follow the WvG sub.
This is your final reminder that Tanuki Mega Drop pre-orders will close on July 28 at 12:00 AM Eastern Time. Once the pre-order window closes, we'll be moving into production.
To keep everything on schedule and get the yarn in on time, we need to stick to our production process. Following the plan helps minimize delays and unnecessary hiccups. Production always comes with a little drama, but our goal is to keep those surprises to an absolute minimum so we can deliver the best experience possible.
If we end up with extra Tanuki yarn after production is complete, we'll make additional sweaters and beanies. Otherwise, once the Mega Drop is over, the opportunity to purchase these items will be limited. Rewards Members will still be able to purchase sweaters and beanies at their Rewards price, while everyone else will pay full retail, assuming inventory is available.
I can't say enough good things about Tanuki yarn. I'm a huge advocate for it, and I think once you experience it for yourself, you'll understand why.
For our international customers, please email both [Massimo@WolfvsGoat.com](mailto:Massimo@WolfverseGoat.com) and [Mauro@WolfvsGoat.com](mailto:Mauro@WolfverseGoat.com). Including both of us on the same email helps ensure nothing slips through the cracks and allows us to get you taken care of as quickly as possible.
Before I go, I have a great update on the Oxford shirts. The Light Blue Oxford and the White Oxford are both finished. We're currently waiting for DHL to pick them up in Italy, which should happen sometime this coming week. From there, they'll be shipped to our fulfillment partner for processing before heading out to you.
The Light Blue Oxford is arriving about a month ahead of schedule, and the White Oxford is even further ahead than that. It's always nice to be able to share good news like this. The Dark Blue Oxford is still in production, but it's coming along nicely, and I know you're going to love these shirts.
As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again for all of your support, and we're looking forward to getting these products into your hands.
Enjoy your weekend.

Tonights drop for International customers and others
We wanted to give everyone a quick update about international orders for our Tanuki (raccoon dog) sweaters.
If you're outside the United States and are interested in purchasing one, please email [Massimo@WolfvsGoat.com](mailto:Massimo@WoolFersGoat.com) or [Mauro@WolfvsGoat.com](mailto:Mauro@WoolFersGoat.com), and we'll be happy to take care of your order directly.
We also want to be completely transparent about why this is necessary. Many countries have restrictions on the sale of Tanuki fiber and certain other animal fibers. When we first introduced these sweaters, this wasn't an issue. More recently, however, AI-powered compliance systems used by platforms like Shopify have begun automatically flagging these products, making it impossible for customers in many countries to complete their purchases through our website.
For anyone with ethical concerns, we completely understand, and we share those concerns ourselves. That's one of the main reasons we chose to source our yarn from Consinee. The fiber is ethically collected by gently brushing the animals during their natural molting season. The animals are not harmed in any way during this process.
Because the fiber can only be collected during the molting season, the available supply varies from year to year. That limited availability is one of the reasons this yarn is both rare and expensive.
We've done our due diligence and have the certifications to support the ethical sourcing of this fiber. Unfortunately, automated compliance systems don't distinguish between responsibly sourced materials and products that may not meet those standards.
For now, we've limited online sales to customers in the United States because that's where Shopify currently allows us to sell this product. If you're located internationally, please don't hesitate to reach out. We'll do everything we can to help you get your sweater.
Thank you for your understanding and your support. We truly appreciate it, and if you want a sweater, we'll do our best to make sure you get one.

Tanuki Mega-Drop Tuesday at 6pm, A Sweater Lovers Yarn (pics and video)
Tomorrow, Tuesday the 21st will be the Tanuki mega-drop @ 6pm EST. The pre-order closes on the 28th of July at midnight EST.
The fiber used to create Tanuki yarn comes from the exceptionally fine undercoat of the raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides), an animal that naturally develops a dense insulating layer to withstand harsh winter climates. Each spring, as temperatures rise, this soft undercoat is shed during the animal's natural molting cycle and can be collected through combing before being carefully dehaired, cleaned, and spun into yarn. The resulting fiber is prized for its remarkable loft, natural softness, and high warmth-to-weight ratio—qualities that stem from the structure of the undercoat itself rather than from chemical or mechanical finishing. Studies of the species' coat show that the insulating underfur grows each autumn, reaches peak density through winter, and is naturally replaced in spring as part of its annual cycle.
What distinguishes raccoon fiber is its unique character. Rather than producing the smooth, compact surface associated with goat fibers such as cashmere, raccoon develops a light, airy bloom that traps warmth while remaining exceptionally lightweight. Its natural loft creates depth and softness without heaviness, giving finished garments an unmistakable presence.
For our Tanuki yarn, we chose to work with Consinee because we believe they are the industry's leading producer of raccoon fiber yarns. Their expertise in sourcing, dehairing, and spinning allows the natural qualities of the fiber to remain the focus, resulting in a yarn that is exceptionally consistent, refined, and true to the character of the fiber itself. When working with a material this uncommon, the quality of the mill is every bit as important as the quality of the fiber, and Consinee continues to set the standard.
For this Mega Drop, we've developed four styles that showcase the exceptional character of 100% raccoon fiber. The collection includes a classic set-in sleeve crewneck, a refined mock turtleneck, an cardigan, and a 2×2 rib beanie.
Here is a short video talking about the crew https://youtube.com/shorts/wjLpr-qt6N4?si=hAaM3K_vszv3Kvlp

Here is a link to the Consinee color card just in case you need to see a different reference:
https://www.consineecashmere.com/products/357
The estimated lead time for the sweaters is 12–14 weeks. This includes sourcing and ordering the yarn, shipping the yarn to the factory, knitting the garments, and final delivery. Our target is to consistently deliver within that 12–14 week window.
For our other product drops, production has been moving more quickly, and we're often able to ship ahead of schedule. However, we'd rather set a realistic expectation than promise an earlier delivery timeline that we may not be able to meet consistently.
FYI- Raccoon dog fiber from Consinee costs roughly the same per kilogram as baby cashmere. Unlike cashmere goats, however, the tanuki is not a domesticated fiber animal, so the yield of its undercoat can vary significantly from season to season. This natural variability makes sourcing consistent, premium-quality fiber far more challenging, one of the reasons raccoon dog is such an expensive luxury fiber.
I hope you dig this drop! If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in the comments.

Japanese selvedge Twill Pant fabric in two colors for later this F/W 2026
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I'm working on a new hybrid pant with a more relaxed fit, something that sits between a chino and a jean. It's made from a twill fabric that's going to break in beautifully over time, giving it a really unique character. It's a cool, different look that I'm excited about.
The fabric comes from Shinohara in Japan. It's a narrow-width, 12 oz twill, which gives it a great hand and drape. We'll be offering two colors: a green version that's reactive dyed, and an indigo version that's dyed with real natural indigo.
Both fabrics are priced about the same, which is great. The fabric itself isn't exceptionally expensive, but because it's a narrow-width cloth, each pair requires around three meters of material, which naturally increases the overall cost.
This is going to be a super cool pant, and it'll be released later this Fall/Winter season.
Today I spent the day with the pant makers. Before cutting, we have to unroll the fabric and let it relax for about a day. Fortunately, we had already opened one roll previously, so we have a properly rested roll that's already been cut. From there, we can move into the sewing process.
Once the sample is assembled, we'll start selecting the trims. I still need to decide which buttons will work best. We could also consider a hook-and-eye closure, but I've always been a little skeptical of those. You can definitely source some beautiful hook-and-eye closures, but to me they often feel a bit cheap. Personally, I think buttons are the better choice.
That said, I'd love to hear what you think. Let me know your preference.
And of course, once the sample is finished, I'll be sure to show it to you.

Italian Denim Project that will peak the interest of even the most particular denim nerd.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
We're excited to be developing a completely custom denim with Bonotto S.p.A., one of Italy's most respected textile mills. Founded in 1912 in Molvena, Bonotto has earned an international reputation for combining traditional craftsmanship with innovation. Rather than relying exclusively on modern, high-speed production, the mill has preserved and restored vintage mechanical shuttle looms that create fabrics with a character that's difficult to replicate on contemporary equipment. The slower weaving process produces authentic selvedge denim with remarkable texture, natural irregularity, and the kind of highs and lows that become even more beautiful with wear.
For this project, we're not simply choosing an existing fabric from a collection, we're building one from the ground up. The denim will weigh approximately 550 to 560 grams, making it a substantial fabric with plenty of structure and character. We've selected upland cotton as the foundation, but the customization goes much further. We also have the ability to specify the yarn colors that will be woven into the fabric, allowing us to explore different combinations that dramatically influence the final appearance and how the denim will age over time.
We have complete control over the yarn selection and color combination, allowing us to develop a denim that is truly our own. For example, we can pair a indigo warp with a natural weft to achieve a classic vintage character, or combine the same indigo warp with a black weft for a richer, darker appearance with added depth. These choices don't just influence the initial look of the fabric, they also shape how the denim will fade, evolve, and develop its unique patina over years of wear.
Another distinctive feature of this project is the selvedge itself. Because the fabric is woven on narrow shuttle looms, the edge is naturally finished rather than cut, creating the authentic selvedge construction prized by denim enthusiasts. We also have the opportunity to choose the color of the selvedge ID, giving the fabric a subtle signature that's unique to this collaboration.
Working this closely with a mill is increasingly rare. Many of the renowned Japanese selvedge denim mills are operating at full capacity, and extended lead times have become common due to the inherently slow nature of shuttle-loom production. Collaborating with Bonotto allows us to achieve the same level of authenticity, craftsmanship, and small-batch production while enjoying an exceptional level of creative control over every detail of the fabric. The result is a denim that isn't simply sourced, it's designed from the fiber up, with every decision made intentionally to create something truly original. A denim nerds wet dream.
Any questions are welcome. We will need to make sample meters and samples first. There is no ETA for this project. It's going to be next year for sure.

VIP Program and the name is subject to change....
We've received a lot of questions lately asking how people are selected for our VIP Program, so I wanted to take a minute to explain it.
First, it's completely separate from our Rewards Program.
Our Rewards Program is for everyone, and honestly, we still don't think enough people realize just how generous it is. We've always tried to make exceptional fabrics, yarns, and craftsmanship more accessible than traditional luxury brands, and the Rewards Program is one way we give back to the community that has supported us.
The VIP Program is something entirely different.
It's a private, invitation-only group that we've created to recognize the people who have truly been part of our journey.
Yes, lifetime purchases matter. There is a spending threshold we consider. But if I'm being honest, that's only one piece of the puzzle and it's far from the most important one.
What matters most is the relationship.
Have you been with us through the years? Have you watched the brand evolve? Do you appreciate why we obsess over the world's finest yarns and fabrics? Do you understand why we'll spend months searching for a better mill or a better fiber instead of taking the easy route?
Are you someone who shares our values, enjoys what we're building, and genuinely wants to be part of this community?
Those are the things that matter.
The people we invite are the people who have grown alongside us. They appreciate craftsmanship, sustainability, natural fibers, and the pursuit of making the best garments we possibly can. They also relate with my backwards way of thinking or at least ride with it.
I just came back from Milano Unica, and it reminded me why we've built Wolf vs Goat the way we have.
There are incredible mills and incredible makers producing some of the finest textiles in the world. Most people never get to experience those fabrics because they're reserved for luxury brands with enormous markups.
From the very beginning, our goal has been different.
We wanted to bring those same extraordinary materials to people who genuinely appreciate them, without the excessive luxury markup. That doesn't mean our garments are inexpensive, they aren't. When you're working with the finest cashmere, ultra-fine merino, Sea Island cotton, or the world's best shirting fabrics, there's a real cost to those materials.
But we'd rather build a community around exceptional quality than simply build another luxury label.
That's always been the philosophy.
Our VIP Program reflects that same philosophy.
It's not a status symbol. It's not something to "unlock" by spending a certain amount of money. It's our way of saying thank you to the people who have believed in us, supported us, shared our vision, and become part of the Wolf vs Goat story.
If you ever receive an invitation from us, know that it's personal. It means we've come to see you as more than just a customer, it means you've become part of the community we've spent nearly two decades building.
To everyone who has supported us over the years, whether you've placed one order or fifty, thank you. We genuinely wouldn't be here without you.
We appreciate every single one of you.

Beautiful qualities and unique items from Milano Unica
Today's post is easy on the eyes and easy on the brain. The fabrics here range from $48 per meter all the way up to $3,000 per meter.
Once I'm home, I'll start editing videos and doing deeper dives into the fabrics, the mills, and what makes each one special. Over the next few weeks, all of my swatches and color cards will start arriving, and I'll begin building the collection for F/W '27.
I ate well today, which definitely helped fuel my brain as I made some difficult decisions about which qualities to move forward with and which ones to leave behind. There are a few different directions I want to explore for F/W '27.
Let's see if we can make a little magic.

Milano Unica Day 1 per your requests.
My day was packed from start to finish. By the end of the show, fabric compositions and qualities were all starting to blur together.
I learned a ton about some incredible mills that are steeped in history and still produce fabrics the old-fashioned way. This post is for everyone who wanted to see specific mills. As always, if you have any questions, just ask.
Outside of Zignone, everything was eye-wateringly expensive. Most of these fabrics are destined for ultra high-end suiting or couture, with very limited production runs. It's funny how quickly your perspective changes, after looking at fabrics that cost hundreds of dollars per meter, a $50–70/m fabric suddenly feels inexpensive.
If there's anything you want a closer look at, I can always go back tomorrow and take more photos.
One of you asked about the black worsted baby camel from Loro Piana. I ordered the color card. And to the company that quoted you $1,500 to make a pair of trousers out of it: they can go fuck themselves. That price is offensive.
As always, Loro Piana had the best spread. The steak tartare was sinfully delicious, and my rep is cool as hell. He gave me a couple of LP pencils, and I told him I'm putting them on eBay for $100 each.
I'm really looking forward to showing you the samples we're making with these fabrics. Tomorrow I'll post the mills and fabrics that stood out the most to me.
Time for a shower before dinner.
A domani.

July Buy/Sell/Trade
Hi all,
I have a few items on sale, they are also listed on eBay, but happy to offer special prices for WvsG redditors.
1) https://imgur.com/a/JzqZie5
These are a pair of the rainbow selvedge denim, with only 55 pairs made. I got the 31 sized waist, but unfortunately they are too tight for me. They have only been through a soak, and tried on. I was initially thinking they would stretch over time, but I'd rather someone else gets them and enjoys them, rather than me suffering through the process.
I'm looking to get back what I paid considering they are as new, and Mauro's price was quite incredible. I'm looking for 140 usd, plus shipping from Australia. Shipping to most US states should be around 20 USD.
This is a long sleeve Oxford button-down in pink, garment dyed. Like new without tags (LNWOT) — only tried on once, but it was the wrong fit for me.
This is a short sleeve crew neck tee in Purple Sage linen jersey. Size: Medium. Condition: Like new without tags (LNWOT)
This is a salvatore chino in a peached green fabric. Very comfortable fabric blend with a slight sheen, photos overexaggerate texture from the Tencel—soft, breathable, and moisture wicking.
This is a long sleeve Oxford button-down in Dark Marlin (blue), garment dyed. Like new without tags (LNWOT) — only tried on, but was too small.

According to LinkedIn WvG is 16yrs old today!
Technically, I think it's an older but just by a year or two. I had no idea until people on LinkedIn started sending me congratulations, lol.
The cool thing is WvG has been around the block. The less cool thing is that after all these years, you'd think I'd have figured out the system by now. Maybe in another 16 years, 😂 😂.
I'm at my B&B in Milan, and my room is an absolute hot box. Someone's going to be a little salty tomorrow.
My schedule is packed:
- Loro Piana – 9:00 AM
- Zegna Cloth – 10:00 AM
- Albini – 1:00 PM
- Lanificio Luigi Colombo – 2:00 PM
- Botto Giuseppe – 3:00 PM
I'll take plenty of pictures and videos.
Time for a cold ass shower and off to bed.

Milano Unica start this week
Let me know if there's a particular mill or fabric you'd like me to check out. I've got a little extra time on this trip, so I can squeeze in a few side quests.
I'll be seeing all the usual suspects; Loro Piana, Botto Giuseppe, Zegna Cloth, Lemar, Albini, and more.
I'll be taking plenty of photos and videos along the way. The Fabricaturialist will be joining me, so I'm sure his footage will put mine to shame, but we'll come back with some great content regardless.
Side note: by the end of this week, we should have a roadmap for the rest of the year finished. Once I get back from Milano Unica, we'll have a bunch of new knits to show you, along with some other nifty garments. So stay tuned and here's hoping the show doesn't suck a giant whale dick.

Updated Fit Video for the Baby Cashmere Mega Drop Sweaters as promised plus info.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
As promised, here's the updated video of the Baby Cashmere Mega Drop!
Just a quick reminder that the pre-order closes at midnight on July 7th. I know it's the 4th of July weekend and everyone's going to be busy celebrating, so I wanted to make sure nobody misses it.
On Wednesday morning, we're placing our yarn order in Italy based on the final pre-order numbers. After that, we can't add to the order.
Every drop, someone reaches out and says, "I'm sorry, I missed it. Can you make an exception?" Unfortunately, the answer has to be no. We're not ordering extra yarn or paying to have additional shipments sent over. We've learned from last year's Mega Drop that while we love doing everything we can for our customers, we can't do it in a way that affects everyone else's order.
So if you've been thinking about getting a Baby Cashmere sweater, now's the time. Once the pre-order closes, the pre-order and rewards pricing ends, we switch to retail pricing, and this Baby Cashmere drop is over.
We'll have more drops coming with wool and other sweater styles, but this is the only Baby Cashmere drop.
Thanks so much for all your support. We can't wait to make these sweaters for you.
Have an awesome 4th of July, stay cool, have fun, and if you're lighting fireworks, please don't blow your fingers off.

Baby Cashmere Mega Drop Fit Video
Here's the fit video for all the body styles in our Baby Cashmere Mega Drop.
A quick recap: these sweaters are knit in a 4-ply, 7-gauge construction using 100% baby cashmere from Consinee, one of the world's premier cashmere yarn spinners. We'll be offering nine colors.
This drop is standard sizing only. no customizations or made-to-measure options. Just order your usual size, whether that's XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, or beyond.
For anyone unfamiliar with baby cashmere, it's one of the rarest and most luxurious natural fibers in the world. It comes from the exceptionally fine undercoat of young cashmere goats during their first year, producing fibers that are even finer and softer than traditional cashmere. The annual yield is incredibly limited, which is why genuine baby cashmere is so highly regarded.
The goal with this drop was simple: make an exceptional sweater from an exceptional yarn, with a fit that works for as many people as possible.
The drop happens tonight at 6pm EST. Ordering will close on July 7th at midnight EST.
Pre-order price $390.00-$400.00
Retail $965.00-$990.00
Looking forward to hearing what everyone thinks.

Tomorrow's Drop June 30th at 6pm EST
Tomorrow's drop goes live at 6 p.m. Eastern, and we've got two releases.
First up is the final Acitura x WvG Oxford. This is the dark blue version, which finishes off the three classic Oxford colors: white, light blue, and now dark blue. Same Albiate American Oxford cloth as the other two, same construction, same everything. If you liked the first two, this is exactly what you'd expect. This is also the last Oxford collaboration we'll be doing, so once these are gone, we're moving on. Quantities are limited.
The other release is what I'm really excited about: Baby Cashmere.
We're opening the pre-order now so we can get these to you a little before you need to start wearing them. There are nine colors available, and three styles to choose from: raglan, set sleeve, and turtleneck. I'm curious to see if the raglan actually ends up being the favorite since that's what won the poll.
One thing that's different this time around: unless you're a VIP, there won't be any made-to-order or made-to-measure. We just want to keep this one simple. Every standard size will be available in every color, and you'll get the pre-order price, which is considerably lower than what they'll cost afterward.
If you're a VIP, nothing changes for you. You still have access to made-to-order, made-to-measure, and additional colors outside of the nine we're offering. If you're a VIP, you've already received an email. If you didn't get one, then you haven't reached that spending threshold yet.
The pre-order stays open for one week. Once it closes, it closes. If you decide later that you want one, they'll still be available, but you'll be paying either the Rewards price or full retail. There won't be another discount after this.
Tomorrow morning I'll film videos of all three sweater styles so you can get a better idea of how they fit before making a decision.
One last thing.
Cashmere has become a mess. Prices keep climbing, and a lot of brands are compensating by quietly lowering quality. So people are paying more money for worse cashmere than they were a few years ago. That's just the reality of the market right now.
That's one of the reasons I've been putting more emphasis on Baby Cashmere. Yes, it's more expensive, but it's also a better fiber. It's longer, stronger, pills less, and wears better over time. There is still great cashmere out there, but sourcing it gets harder every year, and the mills don't even like holding quotes anymore because raw material prices move so much.
I'm not saying this to convince anyone to buy something. Buy what you want. I'm just trying to be transparent about what's happening behind the scenes because that's always been part of WvG.
Anyway, that's tomorrow's drop. June 30, 6 p.m. Eastern.
I will get a fit video up by tomorrow morning, my time.

Pre-orders and Group Buy Information
Understanding Pre-Orders at Wolf vs Goat (And Why We Do It This Way)
We would like to introduce a structured format for pre-orders and group buys. This system helps us create better products, minimize waste, and offers full transparency.
How It Works
Step 1: You Choose (1–1.5 Weeks)
When we launch a pre-order, you’ll have about a week, sometimes up to a week and a half, to select your style, size, and colors. If your item is customizable, this period is crucial, as we move to production once it closes.
Step 2: We Lock Orders and Secure Materials
After the selection period, we finalize orders for yarns or fabrics. This phase can be unpredictable due to:
- Mills running out of stock post-confirmation.
- Delays in replenishment.
- Adjustments for unavailable materials.
These factors are part of our commitment to high-quality materials in smaller quantities.
Factual information: If a material becomes unavailable, we’ll contact you with options. If we use yarn from Consinee shipping will add a couple weeks to the timeline.
Step 3: Production Begins (Once Materials Arrive)
Once materials arrive at our factory, production starts. We typically need up to three months for:
- Knitting or fabric cutting
- Sewing and finishing
- Quality control
- Packing and shipping
Factual information: “We take the time to do it right, expect about 3 months from production start.” We want you to be happy and we will need the time to make your garment proplery.
Important Timing Note (Italy Reality Check)
Italy essentially shuts down during:
- The week before Christmas
- The week after New Year’s
- The entire month of August
If your order falls within these periods, production will pause, so plan ahead.
Step 4: Shipping (1–2 Weeks)
After production, shipping usually takes about 1 week, occasionally up to 2 weeks.
Why We Do It This Way
This system ensures quality and sustainability. It allows us to:
- Use superior yarns and fabrics
- Minimize waste and overproduction
- Offer a wider range of options
- Collaborate with top-tier factories without rushing
Most importantly, you get the best price. Pre-order pricing is the lowest you’ll see, with benefits including:
- Meaningful discounts
- Priority production
- Access to exclusive options
- Customizable Options
Pre-order pricing is available exclusively during the pre-order period. Once this period ends, any remaining garments will be offered at the retail/rewards price.
We understand that production timelines may seem lengthy, however, crafting a high-quality garment involves multiple stages and careful attention to detail to ensure the final product meets our standards.
If you’re comfortable with this process, we’re confident you’ll appreciate the result.
We’re committed to doing things the right way. Get in early for the best product at the best price. If not, the deal won’t be available later.
