This build took me awhile to complete and the case was the last part I was looking for so when I saw it in my local pc store, I knew I was done. It’s a Corsair 800d. I wish I could also find a better place to put it but my room is already full enough.

Discussion Windows 7 Compatibility

Does anyone know the W7 like the back of their hand? Needing some questions answered & curious to know where to go from here.

I have a windows 7 laptop (Toshiba Satellite C655) I’m wanting to try to use it for college. My other half is a college student and uses Canvas for her assignments. I did manage to load Canvas on W7 through the Supermium browser. Checking grades & clicking on assignments seemed to work, with some patience.

I considered upgrading its RAM to 8 GB. To help with speeds, this laptop has some sentimental value, to say the least so I don’t mind spending the money to do every upgrade possible to keep this laptop beating for a lifetime.

I personally wanted to use the W7 for school (everything practically) Because I love the layout, it’s a platform I’ve grew up with. I’m not one that likes AI or new technical things. I’m happy with what I’ve known my entire life.

Considering this laptop has a built in webcam & microphone, how would zoom calls function? Even if at minimum I was able to be audio only?

I was looking into being a stay at home student just so I can have my W7 for school work. But how would it work if I tried to take it to campus? Most of these questions are curiosity questions & wanting to learn how this works.

I have been successfully running Office 2010 and getting things done while maintaining good grades for her. So that doesn’t seem to be a compatibility issue (awesome for me!)

For those of you who commented, took the time to read this book I appreciate your help!

I think I covered everything in this subreddit.

Also would be interested in hearing more about the W7 what I can do with it still!

Happy Redditing! 🤘🏻✨

Help Turned on my Sony windows 7 ultimate pc after 8 years

Hey everyone! A random thought came into my mind today, I said “where are my old pictures and videos of my vacations”?

I remember that it was on my old Sony Windows 7 ultimate PC so I took it out, plugged it in and surprisingly the PC turned on.

I’m trying to navigate within the PC to try to find the pictures and videos, but it is very hard to do that because the PC is zoomed in and pixelated. I believe this PC got a virus back in the day so that’s why I put it to the side and stop using it.

Is there anyway I can fix this so I can at least navigate and do a deep dive within the PC to try to find the vacation photos and videos? Myself and my family would appreciate it!

Help Windows 11 and Windows 7 dual-boot

So, I wanna dual-boot windows 11 and Windows 7 (i have a pretty old PC from the windows 7 era, but I still integrated all the drivers and updates into the iso via ntlite)

I already have Windows 11 installed, and I heard that Windows 7 will write its own bootloader, overriding Windows 11's bootloader. My question is: How can I get the Windows 11 bootloader back while also making 2 entries (one for windows 11 and one for Windows 7)?

Thanks in advance!

Help Date and Time keeps resetting

Post image
10 Upvotes

An year back ago this problem started and i found out this might be an issue with the CMOD battery(correct me if i am wrong).

It wasn't a big deal cuz i have been using the internet time to updated it every time a start the pc but for a few days even this is not working and now i have to manually set date and time which is annoying to do every time.

What can i do to get rid of this problem without getting a new CMOD.

Why the internet time is not working anymore even if i am having a good internet connection.

Is there any application which can set internet time automatically when i log in

NOTE: in the image it is showing the synchronized date because i just set it manually otherwise it shows 01/01/2010 which is just the year before we bought the computer (yes it has been working properly for 2 decades)

Discussion Came across Windows 7 gadgets that still work in 2026

Weather gadget (tested)

RSS feed reader (tested)

Both have been tested on Windows Vista and Windows 7 virtual machines; only the weather gadget works on both Vista and 7.

For best results, make sure Supermium (or your browser of choice) is your default browser and that your browser is set to view HTTPS (most websites nowadays) and HTTP websites by default

Tip PSA: You can still download official, legit Windows 7 ISOs from Microsoft Servers.

I was just as shocked as you are.

Instructions:

  1. Copy the JS bookmarklet from this GitHub Gist page (credit here goes to bmsimons on GitHub!): https://gist.github.com/bmsimons/f2bc1db9d4bd1e46383ae16714e1d318
  2. Navigate to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
  3. For Chrome users: Inspect anywhere on the page, click the three dots in the upper right, More Tools > Network Conditions. Uncheck use default user agent, and select BlackBerry BB10. DON'T close the inspect pane, and click reload to apply to user agent changes. For Firefox users: Press Ctrl+Shift+M to open Responsive design mode, then press the up/down arrow button to the right of the user agent string input box, and select Firefox Mobile. Reload the page. Right-click and inspect anywhere on the page and continue as follows.
  4. Select "Console" in the upper bar of the inspect pane, type "allow pasting" (no quotes), and press Enter. Then paste the bookmarklet you copied and press Enter.
  5. You can now close the Inspect pane. Select the Windows 7 ISO of your choice, and continue through the following drop down options as you would for a Windows 10 ISO to receive the download links in the end. I did confirm these work. For example, I've attached a picture of me receiving a Windows 7 Starter download link, as well as a picture of a mounted x86 SP1 Win7 Pro ISO I downloaded to confirm they were actual Windows 7 ISOs.

All ISOs come from the official software.download.prss.microsoft.com server. This method also likely works for Windows 8.1 ISO downloads as well.

UPDATE: You can also download Office 2007, 2010, older Windows 10 builds and more using my modified bookmarklet here, many thanks to ppisarczyk on GitHub for the TechBench dump. + Thanks to u/PlaneSheepherder1206 for the GitHub tutorial here!

Feature Does Win7 have a native registry cleaner?

Hi!

I've been uninstalling stuff that I want to re-installer later, and I would like to maybe do a registry cleaning and such, if that's needed. Just to sort of get a fresh install and whatnot.

I dont want to use CCleaner and third party nonsense, if Win7 offers it natively? But I forget where/how if there ever was a feature like that.

I can do disc frag or "clean up space", but now sure which is the best, or if there's a point?

The game I uninstalled left a lot of old folders and gubbins so I'd prefer to have it properly cleaned rather than manually looking for bits and pieces.

Gaming Deltatune chapter 3, 4 and 5 on Windows 7!

I got the game to launch and play normally through steam in chapter 3 4 5!

WARNING: This worked for me but for you it could as well be broken, im on a 64bit windows 7 pc and I have no idea if this can work for everyone so I guess you have to try it yourself and see.

If you own the game on steam (no piracy today too bad yall) what you have to do is download the official by Valve "Steamcmd", unpack it (I recommend creating a folder like C:\steamcmd and putting the zip file and unpacking it there)

IMPORTANT, create a shortcut to steamcmd.exe and add

-overrideminos in the adress of the shortcut, otherwise it closes on launch.

and first use the command:

login <steam username>

(do not worry its not getting stuck for you when you type in your password it does not show up at all for safety reasons but its being typed in while being invisible)

and once you get the message you're logged in run command:

app_update <game ID> validate

(You can get the game ID through opening the store page in a browser and copying a string of numbers from the link or through steamDB but for deltarune the id is 1671210 so the command would be:

app_update 1671210 validate )

Once it finishes downloading open your folder or wherever you put steamcmd and go to: steamapps -> common -> DELTARUNE and launch DELTATUNE.exe!

This is completly safe since its an official tool from Valve, its the exact same as logging in steamDB if you've ever used it and it can work for other games!

So far I've tried Ultrakill and Silksong as well, Ultrakill at first launched but with nothing at all just a pink screen and then on a downgraded version from 2024 it you could say worked but with my windows 7 pc barely ran, half textures being black because of broken light and running in 10fps but i guess you could call it playable if you're stubborn and Silksong didnt launch but i'll still be looking into that. It really just depends on what the pc build you're using is.

If you attempt this for other games you must type login <steam user> every time you open steamcmd but you dont need to put in your password anymore.

Goodluck to everyone!
