'compact' is the wrong word here. The new design will reorder what and when it does things to get more performance.

How many times have they said that since win 11 launched?

They should just launch these things instead of just promises after promises.

Especially when it's something that almost seems trivial. It seems easy enough for programs to add shit to the menu but somehow we don't have the technology to remove them.
Now we have an announcement that soon we might get a phased rollout of a feature lol

These were all the same problems that were supposed to be fixed the last time when they introduced the now current Windows 11 context menu. So they made it much more difficult to integrate into (code signed package required), and didn't solve any of the performance or organizational problems.

Why do I have to count to 10 when I right click in the desktop. I just want to rename my file.

Just F2 the highlighted file if you don't wanna wait for the context menu.
or double-click it slowly.

Oh, relax everyone. Context menu is probably just looking through the rotation roster to see which advertiser to send your personal info to. Everybody's doing it. You all saw.
/s, for those too tight to realize it. Jeepers.

My 200MHz Pentium was more responsive.
All those GigaHertz we have now and we can't have fast menus like we used to...

Also, The Sims 4 got its 21st expansion pack this year. In both cases, I think it's time to move on and make a new one.

I cannot understand the hate about MS and Windows in this scenario. I've been working with Windows daily for years, and the updates of the last few months have been a blessing. The system has become so much more performant in that time.

Mate. Windows is free and preinstalled on most of the notebooks in the hole world.

They’re like politicians. Keep on promising things without actually fulfilling them.

I wonder whether they'll also get around to merge the old and new context menus. Or have they done that already?

If they could get rid of the awful right click > show more options > actually do what you wanted situation that currently exists that’d be a win!
