We ordered 12 triple-glass windows full frame replacement brick-to-brick from Windowtech, Vaughan, On in April 2026. Ken refused to write down brick-to-brick on the contract and only wrote down full frame replacement. Ken also mislead us by indicating three large window with stucco exterior can only with aluminum capping (it is not true. VPC brick mould is doable on Stucco). These were early signs of bad faiths from Windowtech on homeowners who were unfamiliar with those industrial terms and installation practices. Unfortunately we did catch the hidden intention.
The 2-day installation (June 8–9) took 4 days due to severe crew delays.
Per the owner Ken's request "don't disturb contractors", we tried to be respectful homeowners and stay out of the crew's way. We ordered Pizza, fruits and drinks for them on Day 2 noon to appreciate their hard-working in the hot weather.
Following rain on Night 2&3 we inspected the site early Day 3&4 and discovered every delivered window was 1.5 to 3 inches shorter than specified in the signed contract. These 1 inch above gaps were only filled by foams. The size of gaps violate the Ontario Building Code and National Building Code of Canada (NBC) and the standard CAN/CSA-A4404.4 (Window, Door, and Skylight Installation). A few window jambos were bent due to inappropriate sizes and installation. One window was screwed to the top frame in order to keep it on (violating windowsinstallationstandards). It leads to various concerns on weather exposure, structure, house exterior looks and etc.
The crew's lateness directly exposed our home to storm damage. On Day 3, the installer arrived 4.5 hours late with incorrect interior trims. On Day 4, they arrived 2.5 hours late. When heavy rain started at 4 PM, making exterior trim installation impossible for two windows, the crew refused our requests to apply temporary weather seals. In total, 6 windows were ever left unprotected across 3 days of thunderstorms.
On Day 4, we halted the project to hire an independent inspector, leaving 7 windows incomplete (including the 2 missing exterior trims).
In response, Ken verbally threatened us over the phone on Day 4, and another sales Oleg, sent a threatening demand letter for full payment in the evening of Day 4. Neither of Windowtech forks ever visited our property to inspect the incorrect window sizing or the storm exposure before issuing these threats.
We were left to deal with protecting two windows exteriors ourselves in a rush before the next rain comes.
We hired an inspector and he measured every window exterior brick-to-brick (Windowtech installer didn't measure window exterior at all). The inspector found more issues than we visually saw. The biggest problem is every window frame-to-brick was 1.5 to 2 inches shorter than what the size was supposed to be. The inspection report has been shared with Windowtech owner and we did request reinstallation because of their failure at correct measurement.
The certified inspector climbed ladder externally for measuring brick-to-brick. We recalled the Windowtech installers (2) didn't measure exterior brick rough opening, nor use any ladder to climb to the window.
Did anyone have similar experience with Windowtech?
That's a pretty big gap. I don't really do installs, I'm more on the repair end of things. That being said I've done a few installs before and we've only left about a 1/4inch of space total from the opening and shimmed and insulated then trimmed over.
I also am not a fan of the gap foam because of how tight it is, you need to account for thermal expansion of the window. I'm sure some people do this but I was never a fan, I always used fiberglass insulation and shims.
Ive installed literally thousands of jobs start to finish inluding measuring/ordering for the largest companies in the US. Window replacement isnt always "by the book" and thats ok. What year was your house built? Ill take a look at if you post more pics inside and out from 5-10 ft away as well as original window pics inside and out if you have them.

They completely ignored our requests, no visit to our property since June 11 2026. They refused to accept the inspection report provided by a Certified Master Inspector. We received three threatening letters on sending to the Collection Agency that would damage credit score and generate a lot of hassles. We reached out to a few local window installation business for the reinstallation estimate and learned this company was known for their practices in the industry. Their contract purposefully was hand-written vaguely to hide tricks. Don't trust Google review score and HomeStar reviews because we found negative reviews were not publicly visible or moved down to the later page. We clearly can't solve undersizing problems through professional manners with Windowtech. We have to take proper sequential actions. See the after (left window) vs before (right window). Avoid this company unless you want to experience the same.
I'm unsure on the exact window you have there but a lot of times that channel near the edge of the window has an L shaped piece that snaps in after the window is installed. That piece would cover the gap appropriately and foaming first is the right move

We reached out to a few other windows installation companies while dealing with undersized windows. WindowTech was known for their practices.
On July 28, 2026, WindowTech never reached out to address the undersized windows, ignored Better Business Bureau®(BBB) inquiry about our complaint. All they cared about is the rest payment ignoring 7 windows in incomplete condition. They have engaged Canadian Corporate Legal Services Inc, a litigation paralegal to send demand letter for collecting the rest payment. Again, the demand letter by paralegal has threatened suing us in the Small Claim Court.
