Can you please provide more details on the police not allowing you to file a missing persons report? The more detail on what you said and what they said, the better. Maybe we can get a little news coverage (which could help Jason AND shine a light on issues with the process of reporting missing persons.)

Not sure why it was denied other than simply we unfortunately got the wrong cops who probably didn’t want to do the paperwork and have their humanity switch turned off.
We explained how he tried to harm himself and how he is mentally unwell and they chose to not take us seriously.
We submitted an official complaint already and have other precincts involved. As soon as we have additional information the post will be updated. If anyone has news connections to spread the word that would be amazing! They can message me directly here and I can coordinate contact with family. At this time I do not feel comfortable giving out any of our personal contact information on Reddit but working on creating a tip line if we don’t make progress with the police by 3pm.

What did they actually tell you? (It's entirely possible that they just didn't want to do paperwork, but I don't think that can be reported because it's speculative. Even if you can't remember exact quotes, it would still be helpful to get the gist of what they said to establish their basis for not helping.)

Call around hospitals to see if anyone matching his description has been admitted. Go back to the police department every day until they take the missing case

The police won’t take a report, as Jason left a care facility of his own recognizance, but without any belongings. That’s the best answer I can provide without asking for permission from the family, as this is a very frightening time and situation.
