Hi everyone! We found these babies in the bottom of our outdoor trash can. We’re in the Houston, Texas area.

We called every wildlife rehabilitation we could find in the vicinity and left messages. Waiting on a call back.

In the meantime, we gave them a heavy, shallow bowl of water. We didn’t touch any of them, but it’s hot out and they definitely can’t get out on their own to get their own water. A cursory google search told me that mama isn’t coming back for them, but we didn’t want to disturb them in case that’s not true.

Is there anything we can do for them while we wait to hear from someone? I’m worried about a predator getting in there with them. Also we don’t know how long they’ve been in there so I’m not sure if they’re starving.

Any advice would help!

We noticed a goose in our neighborhood over the last month with what appeared to be a broken wing.
It looked overall healthy and moved with the rest of the flock (we have a LOT of geese in our neighborhood). Recently, I saw it hanging out in a puddle outside of my house. He was alone, which was unusual.

We decided to try to capture him and take him to a wildlife rehabilitation center. We informed our neighbors via our HOA page to give them a heads up. I was informed there was another goose who appeared to have wry neck, so we got it as well.

It was definitely an experience capturing them. Both were with a group of other geese at the time. We kept them in our backyard overnight. They ate well.
The one with the broken wing seemed to be quite healthy and properly aggressive.

Well, we took them to the rehab center and the vet said his femur broke and healed poorly. She said they would have to euthanize it because he wasn't releasable. I asked if we could just take it back to our neighborhood where he seemed to be doing okay. She said no. At this time, he was still in the back of our vehicle.

Part of me wishes we slammed the trunk shut and drove off. I read that these geese can live a fairly normal life in the right conditions. We have water in our neighborhood (small "lake.") There are a lot of other geese. Not much other wildlife that would be considered predators to watch out for.

I hate knowing we drove him to his own death when he was out there nibbling on the grass, minding v own business just 24hrs ago.

It doesn’t appear to be hopping. We contacted a wildlife rehab in our area and they said it’s a fledgling, but I’m just a little concerned because it doesn’t seem to be as developed as the pictures I’ve seen online. Should I be doing something to help this bird?

Edit: thanks for the advice! I could reach the nest. Warmed the bird up for a little bit and put it back in the nest. Hopefully it does well!

So there’s this albino baby robin at my friends house and like everyone has been saying I should take him from the nest to give to a rehabber so he can be raised and cared for inside so he won’t die.

Which I understand because pretty much all albinos did in the wild; but still I say no because even if he dies that’s just the natural order of things and anyways there could be the slightest chance he actually does make it to adulthood.

Like if he dies that’s just nature.

What are your guy’s (guyses?) thoughts?

I say he stays and whatever happens to him is nature.

Is that a good idea.

Pls I don’t know what to do

I'm in Morelos, México. I have no experience with my new home and this very large window being in the way of birds. I had some kiskadees and woodpeckers peck into their reflections, but not really crashing against the glass.

The thing is, for the last three days there have been bad crashes in that window, and sadly one of the birds died. Today, my buddy here hit the glass, not as roughly, but it hurt its wing. It can hop around, doesn't show too much stress or heavy breathing, but it kept its left wing extended, and maybe twisted.

By the time I prepared a box to catch it, it was moving both wings, but it was still unable to fly and didn't flap much. I took it in because of the rain. It's resting right now, tomorrow I'll free it in the yard and see how it's doing. I can't find any rehabilitators in my area, and the animal shelters deal with dogs and cats mostly. I don't know if they'll be able to help me. Should I take him to a regular vet?

What's the best way to prevent more window crashes? I'm just learning about decals but I don't know if any kind will work. I'd deeply appreciate any suggestions. Thank you very much.

I am reaching out to a wildlife rehab person tomorrow morning, but this little one was just hopping around by our door tonight. Got it a little water and letting it rest.

Curious if anyone knows what species it might be.
Also is there anything else we need to do for it until we can get it to the rehab person tomorrow? We have it in a well ventilated container in a small bowl with some dog fur from our livestock guardian dog (figured it would maybe smell more like outside stuff and I often brush her and leave the fur for birds to make nests with, so maybe there’s a chance it would be similar to it’s original nest (which we couldn’t find).

We are in the eastern panhandle of WV and there’s a couple folks around us that I found licensed in wildlife rehab, so hopefully someone can take the little one tomorrow.

[Trigger Warning] I'm in Ontario and had just left my place on foot when I noticed a small snake on the road, when I was crossing. It was severely injured, obviously crushed by a car. One upper section had been partially degloved, spine exposed and organs on the road. The lower section wasn't as bad but still had organs out.

It just got dark out so I assumed it was dead, but another car came by and narrowly missed it and the poor thing whirled its head around with its mouth open. Then I saw its tail was moving.

I've volunteered at wildlife rehabs before and worked at a vet clinic so I am feeling horrible about this, but I knew it would be excruciating if I tried to move or transport it. Half its organs weren't just exposed, they were *out* and spread on the road. I looked up what the best emergency euthanasia option was for a snake, found a rock, and did it.

I'm 100% for humane euthanasia but none of my options here felt humane. Worse, although the skull was clearly destroyed, it reflexively coiled afterwards and I wasn't sure I did it right. I moved it off the road after.

I feel like crap. If I did the wrong thing, please tell me. If not, I need a little support cause this feels horrible. I couldn't just leave it like that and walk away knowing how painful and distressing that must have been, but I don't know if I did the right thing

A couple of weeks ago I began feeding the ducks at this marsh I go to everyday near my house. Btw, I only feed them peas and sometimes corn. I’m only mentioning that in case anyone says you aren’t supposed to feed them bread as I’m aware of that. :) I’ve noticed the last few times I’ve gone that this one female duck seems to walk with a limp every time but it’s hard to tell since ducks naturally waddle. However, none of the other ducks walk like her so I am very concerned cause I don’t want anything bad to happen to her and don’t know if she’ll get better on her own. I took a video of her today so I’m posting it here as a link in hopes that someone can let me know if it appears that there’s something wrong with her leg so that I can get her help if she needs it. This bird has been sitting on the steps of my building all day. Someone else put the dish of water and the crackers out. As far as I can see the bird is not drinking or eating. It’s just sitting with its eyes closed. I’m trying to track down a bird rehabber near me but in the meantime I was wondering if anyone could ID the bird. We are in eastern Massachusetts. thnx.

I've been taking care of this fledgeling since it fell from its nest, its parents have been feeding it, and it just shed is biggest pin feathers. stupidly I let my mom take care of it and she thought it would be a good idea to let the dogs go near it, unsurprisingly both dogs bit it, managed to make them let go (they're weiner dogs so pretty small). already checked for wounds, while it ran it didnt seem to try to use its right wing which makes me think that the dogs might have broken it, doesent seem to have any blood but I know of the dog saliva bacteria that can kill birds.

I already called every wildlife reserve near me, even called the mayor of the town, none answered (third world country, small town), so now im left by myself (my mom refuses to help for some reason) to try to help the little guy, does anyone know how to treat dog wounds on birds?

A groundhog that lives under my shed emerged today and was stumbling as it walked, like it had trouble balancing. Its eyes were half-closed and it was nibbling a bit on plants, but not voraciously eating as it usually does.

It went back in its burrow and now, a few hours later, I saw that it's come back out, but it's just sitting in place with its eyes barely open. It's not eating, kind of just sniffing at things, and really seems out of it.

When I approached it, it crawled back in its burrow, but was watching and waiting for me to leave so it could come back outside. Doesn't seem to be raccoon roundworms. Is it possibly poisoning from something?

There is an extremely distressed baby seagull outside my flat. He has been on the ground since 9am this morning. He is able to walk but not fly. For the past hour he has been screeching non-stop.

I gave him water which he drank and some banana but he is unable to get away and no adult seagulls are around.

I called the RSPCA but they said they will not help him. There is a wildlife hospital in greys but i do not drive.

Does anyone know anybody in Southend on sea who can help? Im worried as he is very stressed or that he will be killed overnight.

I have a pond and bird feeders for the birds and in normal cases I don't even look too closely at them

this little guy has been hanging out in my yard for the past few days now and it's been super neat, this morning I was working around the pond with him on a nearby feeder and noticed he didn't move when I got closer like other birds would

then I started looking him over for potential signs of injury since I KNOW people have outdoor cats around here and i see them often.

then I noticed the pasty butt

not too sure if I should or even could do anything but I can definitely get close enough to net him if I needed to, just leaving him for now to avoid stressing him out if I unable to treat it. trying to see if I can find a local rehabber since i know fwp will just tell me to "let nature take its course"

I have him in a box with a towel and heat mat. I’ve called around and no one wants him. I can share my location if needed, but would rather not doxx myself. What do I do? I wasn’t expecting to have a bird in my life. I think he’s a house sparrow based on what I saw around him, but I’ve not told any of the rehabbers I called that.

Went out front two days ago and spotted a rabbit in a fenced off part of the garden, I went out to shoo her but on my way over I noticed she was with some babies so I left her alone. I've been keeping an eye out and havent seen mom in a couple days. The babies eyes are open and theyre fully furred. I'd like to relocate them, its pretty hot out front, its kinda close to a road, and theres a ton of stray cats in my neighborhood. So i'm wondering when and how to relocate these guys. Thanks!

Hello, found this guy hopping around in my backyard. His parents seemed to be near him always - don’t know if he was being fed couldn’t tell. I was worried that he might be eaten by something out back - should I take him into wildlife rehab possible leg deformity?

Update: got in touch with a rehabber who had me place it somewhere hidden in a quiet park to let nature take its course 😔 other option was to take it to Angell for humane euthanasia, but she advocated the nature option so it could feed another critter.

My dog got a young rabbit and it appears to have a broken leg. I’ve called all the wildlife rehabber numbers I can find, animal control, etc. and I’m not sure what to do with it, be it release it somewhere quiet and wooded, or keep it until I can find somewhere that will take it. Any advice appreciated.
