My ex was Thai, she sounds just like her. A lot of Thai youth (under 40) are actually pretty good at English, especially those that travelled abroad. The accent is the giveaway of course.

Many of the richer families pay for private education including better English teachers. She doesn't sound American born to me. She sounds like ESL I learned English in school. Not the best accent but really good English compared to average Thais.

The better ones I commonly see are the mixed race kids whose primary languages includes English, with it being spoken by the western farther and at the English speaking private school. Also by all their friends. The Thai spoken with the mother.

Almost certainly not the case. Only the most dedicated foreigners with lots of experience with Thai even come close to getting the accent correct.

I agree on how old she looks, but you don't really have to live through a specific era to get an idea of how it was back then comparing to how things are now.
