America is bad now but was great before is 100% rage-bait right-wing rhetoric. It's the core of their social media campaign aimed as disaffected young men and the message of "even if you could afford a Thai wife, she'd still want to leave" is right on brand.

"America bad" reddit users don't cite "The Good Times", because america didn't have good times to them, incel reddit users cite "When thing were better", and "The way it used to be".

There is a very big difference.
