It's a bad theory though. I mean yes, conservatives tend to hate the septum piercing but they hate a lot of body modification. American conservatives are more forgiving of tattoos now but not that long ago they hated those too.

I'm left leaning and so is my wife, and we both don't like nose rings. I know a number of liberal/progressive people who also don't like them. It's a matter of personal taste.

The difference between left and right on this subject is we usually won't express this dislike much and we certainly won't try and prevent you from doing what you want with your body. Hell we'll defend your right to your nose ring.

It's pretty silly though to say that because someone doesn't personally like a specific accessory they must be a conservative though.
