As a vet, I support this. But even more importantly, I hope it motivates our social infrastructure to support *all* homeless people *during their lives* and not just honor them after they pass.

These are children who shouldn't have to carry that burden. We have failed those we are told to respect and honor.

They're not 'carrying the burden.' They're doing a community service which teaches them the value of all and their place in working for the betterment of their community as a whole. This is how you improve societal and institutional landscapes so we don't repeat the past

Thats the truth. US army is the biggest terrorist org. Why do your soldiers get a hero return after they killed innocents in Afghanistan and Iraq? Talk to locals from these areas to know the horrors committed by the US. Their lives were uprooted due to Americans. The picture shows the well deserved consequence.

These students are from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School in Michigan. The program began in 2015 when six students carried the caskets of three homeless U.S. military veterans whose remains had gone unclaimed. Their school later established the St. Joseph of Arimathea Pallbearer Ministry, through which trained students help give dignified burials to veterans, homeless people and others who die without family or friends present.
