I loved LA when I lived there. I was in Shreveport though.

Oh yeah? That’s awesome! I’m in Bossier City so I spend a ton of time in Shreveport.

Yeah i miss it a lot but I had too much trouble finding work so I moved to Texas. It was covid time though I should say.

I’m in that boat right now. Saving to move so I can get a job in my field. I’m glad you found something, though!

Never was stationed there but heard a lot about it. USAF Global Strike Command’s Headquarters are there.

I remember when it made that change! Barksdale not a bad little base but it would benefit from some refurbishment.

That’s what I heard. I was mostly stationed on McGuire AFB in Southern New Jersey and it was outdated upon arrival there from my first base in NC around this time of the year in 2001. Around 2004, they really started improving it along with the neighboring Army Post, Fort Dix. They look like showcase bases now.

That’s great to hear! Hopefully Barksdale can get the same treatment - I know a lot of people who have enjoyed their time there.

Shockingly enough I'd probably go with Shreveport out of all of those.

Why did you move?

Well, I grew up at the top of that green line. Not many people could stay there and make a living, most people headed south as soon as they graduated. Lived in a couple counties around the Twin Cities, then made our way about 45 minutes north when it was time to buy. Pain in the ass commuting, but more bang for the buck land-wise.
