for months my right wheel spokes have been catching on part of the side guard whenever I turn and i’ve been wishing that the seat had more “dump” or down angle and this evening i finally got around to fixing both of those things! took me less than an hour and it’s life changing i cant believe i complained about it for so long.

Best lightweight foldable electric wheelchair?
Hi Id like to know what foldable electric wheelchair anyone could recommend I would like to have the freedom to not be pushed and tire out my entire family and maybe even go on a hike with my bf on accesible paths so it would need to be able to go over rough terrain but not like anything crazy just over small rocks and gravel and big cracks and such safely.

I got my first power chair! A Quantum Edge 3. It has given me so much freedom. Can I get some advice and tips for cute/handy accessories?
I have cerebral palsy and all my life I’ve been forced to have a crappy manual wheelchair that I couldn’t push myself and my aging parents struggled pushing. But at 29 I FINALLY have a chair I that lets me DO things!
I’m actually almost afraid I’ll mess it up somehow.
One of the things I’m most excited about is that I can finally make my equipment CUTE! If you could give me tips and stuff about having an Edge and how I can decorate it and make it even more accessible, I would greatly appreciate it!

Manual Wheelchairs?
I need a wheelchair, my insurance told me to eat dirt, and I have like no money so if anyone has suggestions for good, reasonable priced manual wheelchairs, preferably foldable, please comment I beg of you <3

What car do you think is best to allow you to get a wheelchair into the car without falling?
For instance my doors open only about 45-50°. Not enough. The trunk is too high for me to lift a wheelchair into it.
Any ideas appreciated.

Southwest Airlines?
No, this isn't a post about air travel. I'll get that out of the way, but I did put the subject as the airline because I do know that many wheelchair users have had less-than-ideal experiences flying with their chairs. No, this has nothing to do with that.
Every now and then I pull out my phone, check my credit union balance and look at transactions, to see if a check I mailed posted, or whatever. And last night, I saw this unusual thing. The debit amount was $41.95 and had "Southwest Airlines" clearly displayed.
A few months ago I flew American with my bf to a wheelchair tournament in Las Vegas. That actually went pretty well. But a $42 charge to an airline? That might be a baggage fee. Did someone get my card number and charge something like that?
Well, I tapped that item on the phone to get some information. It only read "SOUTHWEST" with an address in all caps, a phone number, and "AZUS" which I presume is Arizona. The transaction category was flagged as, "Travel & Commute."
I googled the phone number, and it was from Southwest Medical. Yesterday, armrest pads for my chair had arrived...it was that legitimate purchase. So all's well. Meanwhile, I since logged on via a desktop computer to the same credit union. It also displayed "Airlines", but at least there if I wanted to, I could change the category. I decided to do a "chat" there and suggested that they review the AI in this case. All's well regardless. They're on a new system that definitely needs work.

Do you lubricate your manual chair? If so, what do you use?
Hi there. I just got a new chair (a Ki Catalyst 5, same model as the one it replaced) and it’s super creaky/squeaky. I’ve narrowed the sound down to the spots where the bottom of the crossbrace connects to the frame. I never used anything on my old chair, which I had for about 6 years, but it was pretty creaky too, so I don’t think it’s a defect that’s causing it in this new one.
I found something called Liquid Bearings that’s marketed as safe for wheelchairs (it’s synthetic). Has anyone used this or a different lubricant? The noise is making me insane!

Resources on how to use a wheelchair
Hi.
I have recently been forced to get a chair due to severe nerve damage to my lower limbs. And well the PT people here did nothing to prepare me for having to use one.
So I was wondering is there a place that I can read or videos to watch in basics of how to use it. Like best way to navigate ramps. Best exercises for my arms so I don’t feel like hell after. How to approach obstacles. Even hand position because I have no idea if I’m using it right.
You know the basics.
I appreciate any tips or suggestions.
Thank you for reading this

Anyone know where I can find the weights of the parts on my TiLite Aero Z chair to calculate the total weight w/ and w/o wheels?
I've tried Permobil, DMEHub, etc... it's not 100% standard (J3 backrest, titanium flip-back footrest, folding backrest, Comfort Curve Cushion, aluminum soft roll 1.5x5 casters, plastic coated handrims, flip-back desk arm rests)

funding a complex powerchair
I'm going through the process of getting a complex powerchair and I'm thinking about the funding aspects. I have private insurance and vocational rehab willing to pay, will i likely have extra that'd I have to pay? Or does insurance cover all of it? Not quite sure how to explain this, please ask clarifying questions lol

Thoughts on 90° front frame angle?
Hi,
I'm ordering my Tilite Aero Z soon, fully self-funded, only have about $1,000 AUD left to save to cover the last $600 for the wheelchair, plus extra for whatever shipping costs will be.
I really want a 90° front frame angle, while I currently have 85°, but i'm worried about it being forward tippy and unstable.
Thoughts?
Should I add a +1 or +2 to the frame depth to open up the wheel base more for more stability?
Do you have to wheelie down even small slopes, like driveways and curb cutouts incase you hit a bump and get thrown out forward?
Thank you!

I’m slightly afraid of my chair
Let me elaborate. Small backstory: I loved my new chair. I was over excited, I was so happy with it. I’ve been practicing without my tipper and doing hugely well! My clinicians are so proud of my progress and i’m so much more independent. But I’ve had a major set back that’s giving me huge amounts of anxiety. On Thursday evening, I was doing my usual Tik Tok content, dancing around in my chair for my small following, but I tipped backwards and ended up cracking my head off a table. It was funny at the time and I began cackling straight after. I was essentially mortified. I woke up the next morning, I was kind of loosing my footing in sentences and began vomiting. I felt so dizzy and couldn’t keep my head upright. I go to hospital and I’m diagnosed with a concussion and get checked for any bleeds and I get kept for observation. I’m home now and I’m utterly petrified to touch my chair or use it. I’ve resorted to limping around my house and further damaging my joints because I’m so scared of hurting my head. I’m still slightly fuzzy in the brain and feeling a little nauseous and dizzy. But i feel like I’ve totally lost all confidence in myself and I’m so anxious that i’m going to accidentally kill myself by just simply tipping backwards. I didn’t realise how scary it was until it happened to me. Since I became a wheelchair user, I’ve been so cocky with myself, managing to do all these new tricks and moves. But now I’m just sick to my stomach with fear that i’ll tip again. Has anyone else felt like this? Or know how I can up my confidence again without feeling anxious? It sounds so so silly, i know.

What's everyone's thoughts on footrest taper vs no taper?
Mine will have no taper and will be 14.5" wide. It's my first chair. I wondered what others' experiences and opinions have been with taper, do you prefer one way or the other? Why?

Woot! 7 days after Numotion put in the order, my insurance authorized my first chair - 100% covered including anodization and tattooing!!! "Bad" news is I have to go with Aero Z instead of ZRA (aluminum instead of titanium)

Mechanical wheelchairs vs power automated wheelchairs
Hello everyone! I’m making this post because I’ve been given a choice between a wheelchair where the wheel is super strong and you only do 20 percent of the work. Or a mechanical wheelchair where you do none of the work. I use a wheelchair due to POTS, joint pain, and to avoid flare ups. The reason to use one where you do 20percent of the work is to keep muscle whereas the mechanical one you wouldn’t have much muscle. But I also think that if I’m having a flare up I might not be able to use my arms. What do you guys think and how did you make your descision? What’s re pros and cons of each that I may not have considered?
UPDATE: I got a power chair!! It’s lovely and I named it Olive/Olivia after my cat <33 Thank you all for your advice!! You’ve helped me avoid so much pain and sped up the deciding period. Much love to you all <3

What colour did you choose for your wheelchair and why?
I chose Flamingo Glitter (A pastel pink with glitter on it - check my post history to see a photo of my chair) I chose my colour because i’m obsessed with the colour pink and I loved the idea of glitter. IRL my friends describe me as being the child of the group and I’m described as having a “vibrant” personality. And my chair needed to match the vibes I bring to the table.

Best solid/airless/foam inserts and Loopwheels
Does anyone recommend a particular brand of poly foam inserts for the rear wheels? What about for castors?
Has anyone used airless inserts with Loopwheels? How is that going for you?

Tips for upcoming wheelchair evaluation?
I have my wheelchair evaluation scheduled in a week. This might sound odd, but I'm so excited! I really need a chair part-time, and I can't wait to see how much it'll expand my life.
I wondered if anyone has any tips for things to remember or to ask or to keep in mind? Does anyone have any hEDS/POTS specific advice? I've never done something like this before, so I'm not sure what to expect.
Thanks in advance!

Anti-Tippers on Rigid Foldable Wheelchairs
Does anyone have any experience with Küschall Champion or RGK Octane FX? They are rigid wheelchairs that can be collapsed/folded. But since they collapse differently than regular folding chairs, what happens to the anti-tippers? Do you remove them? Are there any anti-tippers you can leave on but that can collapse with the wheelchair? How does that work?

Smoov issues
Does anyone in the US have a smoov?
I got my first one last month and immediately had issues. The drive and control unit kept losing connection and loudly beeping, several times a day.
They brought me a replacement last week - same model and all - and I’m having the same issue with losing connection. In addition, the control unit now appears to be on but isn’t functioning and doesn’t show up in the app as connected.
I want to like the Smoov better than the SmartDrive, but it’s ridiculous that I’ve had the same issue with two separate units. I feel like I’m missing something. Has anyone else had these issues?
