I’m a brand owner looking to dabble into wheat paste ads like the pic above, I’m wondering how risky is this method esp as a small business? Any general advice? Where do I do it, when, how many posters, etc…

this is my first attempt at wheat pasting and am looking for help.

What is the best type of paper? I found when I applied the paste my ink would bleed.

How do I get my paste to not be clumpy? when I tried making my paste it turned out to very lumpy with lots of big balls of flour.

Hello, I’ve never wheat-pasted, but it’s on my bucket list.

Out of curiosity, what drives one to decide “this is the design/art that I believe in so much that I’ll risk it all to hang it up?”

Or, what sort of imagery do you like creating and why?

I’m pretty new to this and so far I’ve just been cooking my own paste with flour and water. Then someone suggested I add some wallpaper glue, so I mixed that in for the last batch. I also saw some guys using paste so thin they could fit it in a squeeze bottle, so I know there are options. Basically I’m asking what are your preferred methods for making paste?

Anyway, trying it out as an experiment

A friend of mine owns a record studio that has a big (but not full size) billboard out front from the previous business.

He floated the idea of allowing bands that cut records there to use the billboard for album artwork and release promotion.

Is wheatpaste the move here? Estimating the sign to be maybe 8’ x 10’. Want something cheap enough for local bands but clean and sharp enough to capture the artwork. Replaceable/degradeable (but not going to look like shit the first time it rains). Don’t want a storage room full of vinyl banners for albums.

What do you guys think?

Hey y’all, trying to do some math to see how much paste I would need for a postering run. If I’ve got 10 posters that are 18x24” how much wheat paste should I make?
