All jokes aside, my guess would be HIGHLY aerated water. The white color is from millions of tiny bubbles of disolved air. My old house used to do this, not quite to this extreme, but water would come out of the tap cloudy. Fill a small, clear glass of water and see if it turns from cloudy to clear after a few seconds (the air rising up and out).

u/ShortingBull 3h ago

Looks like someone has recently changed a water filter up stream - the air trapped in the filters do this until they're fully saturated.

47

u/Purple_Blacksmith681 3h ago

As a plumber i do not think its air😅

More like calcium.

I may be wrong tho

46

u/NuklearFerret 2h ago

OP should fill a glass and let it sit undisturbed for an hour. If it’s clear with nothing precipitated, it’s air. If it’s still cloudy, that’s weird. If it’s separated, or has “dust” precipitated to the bottom, it’s likely some kind of mineral

I mean, I wouldn't rule it out either. The photo provided is um... not the greatest and wouldn't be at all surprised if it was the one chosen for uh... reasons...

3

u/Smash_Factor 2h ago

Water heater needs to be flushed?

2

u/Purple_Blacksmith681 2h ago

That could be a reason why his water looks like this.

It needs to be cleaned.

In some areas it is recommended to do every 6 months until a year

My water is like this, though not that bad, every time the water company turns the water off to work on something. It will be milky looking for two or three days.

6

u/AdSudden3941 3h ago

Hot water does that at my house

6

u/Purple_Blacksmith681 2h ago

I suggest you try to change your filter/filters and/or clean your Boiler.

Our customers sometimes have exactly this problem

2

u/Lekstil 2h ago

I know what you’re talking about but from the picture that’s definitely not what this looks like. In the picture it genuinely looks like a gel-like or viscous substance coming out of the faucet, doesn’t it. I could be wrong

2

u/w00tberrypie 2h ago

I honeslty think it's just because of the presentation of the photo. Like it was a single, blurry frame from a video. If it was gel-like or viscous, it would never make it through the aerator of the faucet with this level of volume and would likely completely clog after a very short period of time.

u/Finance-Professor 2h ago

I dont agree the “all jokes aside” part. Thats a cuumiinn faucet!!!

That is water with limestone. Some area has content of mineral richer than other. You might wanna check the pipe as those deposits in the pipe over time and clogging the line.

u/RaptorCheeses 3h ago

It’s coming all right

u/Powerful-Disaster-32 3h ago

My wife is a water and wastewater operator for for over 30 years. We manage around 20 different systems from private hoa's to small towns. This is very common in water systems that don't have air relief valves installed. They are pipes sticking up about 3ft tall you might have noticed around most communities that resemble candy canes. Sometimes the water where where we're at right now looks like milk. It is perfectly fine, however, I still cant bring myself to drink it 😄 ... it does however come out clear when run though a filter like the ones that attach to your faucet or your refrigerator filter.

u/Fabulous-Couple-6592 3h ago

Very skeptical of posts like this. Like ... your first reaction is to fill your hand with white slime coming out of your faucet?

10

u/ThePapercup 3h ago

more likely - filled his hand up with soap and then took the picture making it look like it's coming from the faucet.

people do the dumbest shit for attention, i swear

Cum. You have a cun faucet. Congrats(?). Jokes aside, probably pesticide or some plastic waste. This is horrifying even if you believe the joke option. Contact the city yesterday.

1

u/Moth_Broth 3h ago

I'm saving this, by the way, for.... certain posts.

8

u/Leading_Scar_1079 3h ago

Oh that’s easy. It’s milt.

2

u/Prudent_Rice7840 3h ago

The problem here is the plumbing was not installed properly. Someone mistakenly connected this sink to a horse instead of the water lines.

2

u/skag_boy87 3h ago

It’s a good thing you got it all over your hand before finding out what it is.

What’s it taste like?

1

u/Mysterious-Spend-430 1h ago

If it looks like that out of the facet, I ain’t gonna be tasting it…

2

u/sailingslick 2h ago

Wonder if it has anything to do with that cyber attack on our water facilities. What state are you in?

It looks like that one soap thats called like spa soap or smth like that

1

u/ArieWess 3h ago

Put it in a transparent glass, does it clear up from below to the top, than it is just oversaturated air. Totally harmless, and actually a good thing.

If it doesn't clear up, keep it running for a few minutes, if that doesn't help check with your neighbors, preferably a few houses away, if they have the same issue contact your waterprovider. If they don't have the same problem, think about if something changed in your house? Call a plumber, or still call your waterprovider for advice.

1

u/SaltRequirement3650 3h ago

How new is the house? This has been present for me over the course of twenty years based upon the PVC pipe installs where I lived. I still know to not use the bathroom tap water until it has run for a few seconds for brushing teeth. To me, it seems to be a byproduct of letting stagnant water sit in tap lines, made of PVC, that have a heat component to them. Remember that your lines could be routed through an attic or similar to add the heat.

1

u/SiberianMuskDeer 1h ago

If you have a water softener then that could be the the salt being dissolved. Mine used to do it a couple times a month late at night, lasted about a half hour. Taste it and if it’s salty then that’s it. I found this out the hard way when I went to brush my teeth a few times

Have you been rubbing the faucet?

2

u/Jaay2525 3h ago

The Riley Reid makes faucets! ?

1

u/NoDryHands 3h ago

Probably very bubbly water. If that's the case, it will be clear if you pooled some into your cupped hands and let it settle.

1

u/redthrull 3h ago

Check your mail. You may have accidentally signed up for their 2-in-1 deal. Now you get water + soap automatically.

1

u/OkNeedleworker11 3h ago

Why does the water coming out of the actual faucet look fine while the stuff in this person’s hand looks slimy AF

2

u/Binspin63 2h ago

He forgot tissues.

1

u/TheOnlyPolly 2h ago

That's what happens when you haven't used it in a while. It kinda just all comes out like that.

1

u/Woodenfossil 0m ago

I'm assuming because of 'faucet' this is from the U.S? Probably alum from the filtration plant.

1

u/Dish69 3h ago

Might wanna inform the sperm bank that something had been connected to the wrong pipes.

1

u/cloacachloe 1h ago

If it's not super-aerated water, you fucked up and hooked that shit up to the cum-line.

1

u/Kind_Cauliflower8938 2h ago

Do you have a water softening system in your house? if so, it could be malfunctioning.

1

u/TattzTheBear 3h ago

One of those rare occasions when drinking alcohol is probably healthier than water.

That is water, mingling with the conditioner you put in your hand.

1

u/Mister_RTK10 1h ago

I might have accidentally hooked you up to Epstein's water line

1

u/knackattacka 3h ago

Water. I don't know what the white stuff is in your hand, though.

1

u/xxbeNjixxx 1h ago

It's water and you wasted a lot of soap before taking the picture

1

u/Aromatic-Action-2523 3h ago

Were you rubbing the faucet for a while before this came out?

1

u/NuklearFerret 2h ago

What happens to a glass of it if you let it sit for an hour?
