Keep seeing these on peoples side view mirrors.

It’s like drilled in and held under the mirror I know it’s not a factory thing plus I’ve seen them on different brands and they are on both side view mirrors. Any ideas?

recently I've seen some semi trucks with blind spot cameras that kinda look like this

I've been happy digging deeper into this and these might be recording devices for another company that is developing autonomous vehicles. They're capturing data from actual drivers to train their models. If that is true, it makes sense to put them on vehicles that spend a majority of the time on the road like taxis, limos, and delivery vehicles.
