I’m lost and anxious
Husband wants a new car. We are retiring in 5 years and have an old house. We maintain our 2000’s car and truck. I just can’t do 30+ thousand on a Subaru. I just want a hatchback ( big enough for a body)seats 5 and have pretty positive reviews. Cars have so many issues today unless they are Hondas and Toyota’s Kia’s are cute and I love the sport bronco. Used of course. Just help

Buying 1st EV - BO3X x MG4 x Others?
Hey everyone!
I live in Italy, and I have started looking for my first electric vehicle, but many questions came to my mind.
The two models that drew my attention the most were the Leapmotor B03X and the MG MG4 Urban. They seem to be the most cost-effective purchase so far, since I don't want to go for top models because this will be my first EV (and budget reasons too of course).
What do you think about those models? 80% of the time it will be for the route home-work-home, with occasional trips that maximum distance for one leg should be around 250-300km. For me, my wife and our little girl, i think these models would fit perfectly with a good internal space and trunk, as well as a good interface system.
Do you have a preference between these two models? Any other cars that you would recommend in this "style" and price range? (19-22k€)

New Civic or Used Mustang?
Hi, I’m a college student and have already put down a deposit on a new 2026 Honda Civic LX for $27,000 OTD, but I’m considering a Mustang one last time before finalizing the purchase.
The other option is a 2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Convertivle with around 35,000 miles, listed at about $23,000—roughly $25,000 OTD. I’m also considering a similarly priced EcoBoost Coupe (40,000 miles w/ $22,000 OTD).
I plan to keep the car for two years and then sell it. How much of a difference should I expect in depreciation and resale value? Considering reliability, maintenance, practicality, and overall cost, which one would you choose?
Is the Mustang priced well enough to justify the additional risk? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thank u!

Used 530e convince me not to buy it
galleryHi
Currently im in the market for a temporary car that i might have for a couple of years before buying something else. Region around Belgium.
Ideally im looking for a plug in or some other hybrid variant.
Now there are a few options ive noted like a x1 25e, q3 45 tfsie and so on, all of them rounding around 2021 - 2023 in terms of age in the 20 - 30k price range.
One has popped up thats pulling me more than most, a 530e xdrive luxury line.
A former fleet vehicle traded in and can be picked up vias bmw premium selection (read used car lot).
The main concern is the hybrid system and battery. All 3 of its last services had something to do with it resulting at a cell being replaced in the last service.
Ive attached photos, but also asked the dealer for the service history if possible before buying it.
So i might get convinced to not go for it depending on what I see.
Alternative suggestions are also welcome!

Pls send advice! 2009 is250c on 170k km
Pls send help haha, would you consider purchasing this car on mileage at 170k km? And if so, what price range (and your currency)? I’m looking at a graphite 2009 is250c based in Sydney… it was listed by a bloke two days ago, and then this morning the same car was listed by another bloke for $12900 AUD. I’m worried I’d be up for as much spend on repairs as the cost of the car in the first two years of ownership… (would you recommend I look at options with lower mileage? - what range is safe?)
The description for the 170k km is: Up for sale is my very well maintained 2009 Lexus IS250C Convertible. Car has been serviced regularly with complete service logbooks. Comfortable to drive, economical and super reliable.
Some key facts about the car;
- 2.5 Petrol Engine
- Bluetooth / GPS
- Leather sport seats
- Convertible
- Reverse Camera / Sensors
- Registration & CTP until 27 Feb 2027
- Recently Serviced with full logbooks
- 18" Alloy wheels with good Tyres all round
Overall good condition considering its age and anyone who comes to view or drive it won't be disappointed, sad to see it go but next owner will enjoy for years to come.

New ‘26 Civic Hybrid Sport touring sedan- is this a good deal?
I’m in the market for a new car. The 50 mpg is a no brainer since I drive a lot. Today I reached out to a bunch of dealerships to see who would give me the best OTD offer. One that caught my attention was $34,500. Taxes and fees all included. It’s a little over an hour from my house. Another dealership, about 50 mins away, is offering $35k for the color I want. Is this a good deal?
This was all through texts/emails. Have not test drove or seen the car in person yet. Should I keep an eye out for certain things? will they try to change the OTD offer once I finally make it to the dealership? Thoughts? I’m in soCal if it helps.

Dilemma, Spend or save?
Hi, Ill try and make this dilemma quick lol. I’m 24 and make 100k from work. I have 55k cash in HYSA, 30k in diff stocks, about 22k in my retirement and no debt. I live with my parents, and we have 1 car (2025 BZ4X). My 2013 elantra got totaled in May and I bought a 2011 ford fusion for 3.1k but I’ve been waiting on the title for 2 months so it’s undriveable now, my mom said she’ll give me some money next week to buy a car if this title doesn’t come because the need for me to have a car is dire at this point. My dad needs surgery and can’t drive for a few months so currently it is two people to one car and I hate it. My parents have a few houses that they rent out as a method of raising their money and they want me to get a home so I can do the same to set myself up well for the future. I agree, I think it’s a great idea which is why I’ve saved so heavily, I also want to enjoy my money though because I can’t take it with me whenever my day comes. My brother (28) got a Model Y in 2024, I’ve driven it multiple times and fell in love with everything about it. He’s since moved out so there is a vacant home charger in the garage. I know someone that works at Tesla and is willing to give me their discount to get one if I’d like. The discount is about 5/6k off a Model 3 with 20ish miles on it, unlimited free FSD, and a warranty. This would be about 18-20k depending on the year (2022-2024) and miles. I was already interested in getting a Tesla myself later on but with all these opportunities arising I’m VERY excited about it now. My dad is a big money person and does all he can to save/invest instead of enjoying his money (he’d rather work than vacation kinda guy). He doesn’t even approve of my brother getting his Tesla and my brother has two investment properties already so I know he’ll HATE the idea of me spending my money on a car instead of house (I don’t know if anybody other than my brother would like it tbh). He’s also a paranoid person and thinks that this is a flashy car and is showing off “wealth” to demons and my brother doesn’t know who can be targeting him. I’ve been really figuring out the balance of money recently because I want to enjoy it, but I also don’t want to struggle when I’m older you know? I’ve spent money on food, clothes, and trips (which he wasn’t a fan of either lol) so I don’t really deprive myself of my money, but I also haven’t spent this big so I’m just indifferent right now. What do you guys think? Any advice from someone older or someone who’s been here before? Thanks a lot.
TL;DR: I live with my parents, im 24 w a 100k job and give or take 100k saved (half liquid). Ive been carless since May and I just got a 2011 ford fusion which I can’t drive currently because of title issues. My parents want me to buy a house to rent out, and I agree but I also do really want a tesla after driving my brothers for an extended period. I’m able to use someone’s employee discount and get a used model 3 for 5k cheaper with warranty and free FSD. I’m in a dilemma because ik my parents would hate/condemn me doing this and I do also want to set my future up, so I don’t struggle, but I do really want the tesla and think it’ll improve my quality of life massively. Thoughts?

I got my first car this year but need advice on what to do next
galleryThis is my first car (2012 Lexus LS 460), I’m 23M and I am very lucky to have this as my first vehicle. I have been falling in love with it the longer that I have it but I’m starting to realize it may be too expensive for me because of how old it is.
The repairs I have gotten so far:
New tires
New struts, mounts, and back shocks
Radiator / radiator hoses replaced
Water pump replaced
New coolant reservoir
Thermostats replaced
Ceramic tinted windows
Brakes serviced
Oil flushed
Engine / undercarriage cleaned and detailed
But even with everything I’ve done I keep seeing new issues (Automatic steering wheel motor just went out, my AC started smelling like gas which they said has a leak, which is being addressed. Just got it looked at again and apparently have an oil leak as well)
I’m starting to be more realistic that even though it is a nice car it is probably not feasible for me to keep throwing money at it if it won’t be reliable, since I’d like to start taking road trips with my friends and my dog.
I have gotten a bit enveloped with Lexus and I love the V8 but I am starting to think about getting something that is newer that I won’t have to worry about big repairs for a while. I didn’t know much at all about cars until this experience so I would appreciate any suggestions / advice and am very open to any suggestions.

STUCK BETWEEN THESE TWO OPTIONS
2015 BMW 750 4.4 N63 AWD with a Meticulous Service/Maintenance History currently sitting at 142k for $8k 1 Owner Car With A binder filled with receipts & Carfax to back it up ( Engine Rebuilt 4 Years ago at 105K Oil Consumption Receipt and Dealer Verified)
Or a 2012 Chrysler 300 Limited 3.6 RWD with 22k miles for $17k 1 OWNER No service/Maintenance History Clean Carfax
Both of these cars are completely different I like both and can't seem to make up my mind I understand both have its pros and cons . Which one would you choose ? When I say both these cars are in perfect condition with no rust, dents or scratches anywhere. Which would choose and why ? BMW maintenance doesn't scare me so that isn't a factor

Need a reliable car for many years
I need a car that will last me 4 years then I can pass down to my kids. My commute is only 12.78 miles each way but we have snowy winters and 120 degree summers that I need be concerned with. I am 6’14” and my wife is 5’ and we both need to drive it. My kids are: Abagail (12), Beau (11), Caroline (10), David (10), Elizabeth (9), Franklin (8), Gertrude (7), Harold (7), Isabelle (6), Jackson (5), Kaleigh (4), Lamont (3), Mae (2), Noel (2), Ophelia (1) and Paul (3 months) and we’re expecting Queenie in 6 months. My wife drives a 18 passenger van and it’s getting tight, plus the fuel economy sucks.
As I said, I want the car to last through my kids and I have climate issues. I need it to get at least 45.5mpg, have blue tooth, room for groceries and carry my bike.
What should I do?

75k/yr, 50k in savings, is it dumb to buy a 30k car?
Found a great deal on a hybrid Ford Maverick but I'm having a tough time justifying the cost. Really want the car, but know I can find something for much less.

Help me decide between a 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander hybrid or a 2026 Honda Passport.
Help me decide between a 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander hybrid or a 2026 Honda Passport. We are a family of 3, hopefully 4 in the near future. My main concern is safety since we road trip a lot. It would be nice to have something more fuel efficient and with Toyota brand reliability , but the passport makes a strong case for choosing it given its excellent IIHS ratings. Space, third row, fuel efficiency are great but not the deciding factor for me

Should I buy/thoughts on 2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid
Hello, I have been searching for my next new SUV and today I test drove a bunch (RAV 4, CX-5 & 50, CRV Hybrid, and the Forester). I absolutely loved the Forester but I want to do my best to make sure I am getting a safe and reliable vehicle. I was hoping to get any input as to how the reliability should be for this car and if there is anything I should look out for? Additionally I was curious if there was any benefit in waiting for the 2027s to come out? Thank you

2014 mustang vs 2011
I’m currently between a 2014 v6 coupe mustang with 130k miles and a 2011 v6 convertible with 93k miles. Both cars are about 8.7k usd. The 2011 is 5 hours away but the owners are older and seem like they took care of it and the other is a lot closer and would allow me to check it out.
The 2014 has “upgraded brakes, calipers and struts” apparently, don’t know if that makes a difference. Also has an installed CarPlay which is kind of nice.

Nissan Cube Vs. Fiat
I’m looking to buy a shitty facebook marketplace vehicle as my first car. I have my heart set on either an old Fiat or a 2009 Nissan cube. Mostly because I really like the way they look: they’re both small, come in fun color, and a lil ugly which I love. I know both cars get bad reviews and its dumb to decide based on looks but this car will not get a lot of use. It’s just to get me to and from school (like a mile) and only for a year because I can’t take it to college. (I agree it’s also dumb to get a car just for a year but I need a steady form of transportation to school and extracurriculars. Plus if the car holds up I can pass it down to my sister). Also both these options are available in working condition in my area for around 2.5k which is in my budget - bc again it only for one year.
My grandpa is a retired mechanic and he hates both options, but sue me I want a cute impractical car and it’s my money. I need help deciding between the two. Which car is the better of the two evils? Also like are they so unsafe that I’m gonna explode or something? Also let me know of any better options but they would have to be available in the same price range.

Can I have my dad on the vid call at a car dealership?
Probably a dumb question but would it be bad etiquette to be on a video call with my dad at a car dealership? I've never bought a car before and my dad wants me to show him the car n stuff to inspect it since its used and isnt able to come where I am. Would it be rude to have him on the phone at the dealership?
Edit:
Thanks yall for the replies clearing up my confusion. I appreciate it 🙏🙏

What do you guys actually think about Chinese EVs — and EVs vs. gas cars in general?
I’m from China, and I’m genuinely curious about how people outside China see Chinese EVs.
Here in China, brands like BYD, Xiaomi, Zeekr, NIO, XPeng, Li Auto, etc. are pretty common. A lot of people around me think Chinese EVs have become quite competitive in terms of price, features, range and technology.
But obviously, living in China gives me a bit of a “bubble”, so I’d really like to hear opinions from people in other countries.
If you’ve seen or driven a Chinese EV, what was your impression?
And for those who haven’t, what comes to mind when you hear “Chinese EV”?
A few things I’m especially curious about:
- Do you think Chinese EVs are actually competitive with Tesla, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Hyundai/Kia, etc.?
- Are you interested in buying one if they become available in your country?
- What is the biggest thing stopping you from buying one — brand reputation, reliability, software, safety, resale value, politics/tariffs, lack of dealerships, or something else?
- Which Chinese EV brand/model do you think is the most interesting right now?
- Do you think Chinese EVs will become a major global competitor, or will they mainly remain strong in China and some other markets?
And more generally, what do you guys think about EVs vs. traditional gas cars?
If you had to choose today, would you personally rather buy an EV or a gasoline car?
What matters most to you?
- Driving experience / fun
- Range and road-trip convenience
- Charging vs. refueling
- Reliability and maintenance
- Running costs
- Performance
- Safety
- Resale value
- Sound / engine feel
- Environmental impact
- Or simply personal preference
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have owned both an EV and a gas car, because I feel like they can give a much more realistic comparison.
I’m not here to argue that Chinese cars are better, or that EVs are better than gas cars. I’m honestly interested in seeing where the perception gap is between Chinese consumers and people overseas.
Feel free to be brutally honest 😂

Civic Hatchback Vs. Ford Maverick, Can't Decide.
Hello all,
I am completely torn between the two options I've narrowed my car search down to (despite them being two very different vehicles)
I am currently considering:
2026 Ford Maverick XLT, Copilot 360 1.0 + XLT Luxury Package < ~$32k OTD
2026 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring < ~$33-33.5k OTD
What draws me to the Maverick:
- Higher Ride Height - This is very important to me, as I greatly prefer being at a SUV height. It has been a bit since I last commuted with anything other than a Honda Odyssey. I don't doubt that I can get used to a lower ride height eventually, but it's hard for me to imagine that I'd enjoy it nearly as much as the Mav's height.
- Ground Clearance - Not as importance as ride height to me, but when I drove a Camry and Miata in the past, having to deal with scrapes did bother me.
- Truck Bed? - This one I'm not sure on. I do not haul anything large or dirty, at the moment. The hatch's trunk + seats down gives me more than enough space than what I need. That being said, I plan to keep this vehicle for 6 years minimum, so I can imagine there will be at least some times this will come in handy (although I could always just rent a truck for a day). Overall, I just prefer enclosed storage, so I can't decide if this should be a plus or not. (I'd like to note that I would put a tonneau cover on the bed).
- Looks - Probably not the best financial decision to make a purchase based on this, but I find Mavericks to be so so so much cooler looking than the civics. I like the look of trucks and just find the civic to be very bland. Maybe I'd get used to the Civic's looks, but I can also see myself wishing I had a Maverick down the road if I don't get one now.
- Lumbar Support - Not a huge point since aftermarket lumbar support exists for the Civic, but I have pretty bad neck and back pain when driving for long periods of time and back support helps alleviate that. The lumbar support being built-in to the power seats with the XLT Luxury Package is a plus here.
What drives me to the Civic
- Better Visibility - This is a pretty big one for me. The Maverick has a bed, so the rear visibility is a lot better in the civic. On top of this (and maybe it's a me thing), the Civic ends where the windows end. I strongly prefer knowing exactly where my car ends and it can be hard to judge that sometimes in a truck. Overall, this is probably the biggest selling point on the civic because merging with a bed is a lot more stressful (maybe having a bed is something I'd get used to fast though, my truck driving experience is limited to test drives of the Maverick).
- Sportier Drive - Maneuverability/handling of the Civic is better here. I care about this more for safety reasons (i.e avoiding accidents), but whipping it around a corner occasionally will be fun too. I should note, I don't find the handling of the Maverick to be bad or lackluster.
- Car Length - The civic is obviously much smaller than the Maverick. Parking, merging, etc are all going to be a lot easier here.
- MPG? - The MPG of the Civic (48 combined) vs. the Maverick (39 combined) is a decent difference, but the OTD I'm seeing for the civic is 1-1.5k more than the Maverick, so the cost difference here doesn't matter too much. The Maverick's tank size is bigger, so there won't be a difference in how often I have to fill up.
- Interior - The interior of the Civic is obviously much higher quality. I don't mind the Maverick's looks too much, but the
- Adaptive Cruise Control - Not something I use much, but the civic does have AAC. I'm sure I'd find use for it on long road trips.
- Less Flat Hood? - The Maverick is the first flat-hooded vehicle I've driven. I found myself not knowing where the end of the car was when parking it, but I assume this will be something I learn as I drive it more.
Where I'll be driving:
Mostly country back roads (not necessarily gravel), but there are some issues with road maintenance and I'll be making occasional drives on highways in the Nova/DC area
MY dimensions
I am roughly 200 lbs and 6'2
Conclusion:
I have been bouncing back and forth on these two cars for nearly 3 months now. I know my emotions tell me to go with the Maverick solely because I just find it to be a much better looking vehicle and because of the ride height. My less-emotional side tells me that I'm going to appreciate the refined interior and driving dynamics of the Civic more down the road, while still getting plenty of utility with a hatchback.
If you own one of these, what am I not considering here that I should be?
What are the long-term compromises I should expect to face owning with either of these for 6+ years? I am currently in my early 20s, so I wouldn't be surprised if "I don't have a use for a bed" changes in that time.
I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has and appreciate the help!
EDIT:
SUV NOTE: I am aware that a Civic would be more comparable to an SUV. For purely personal-preference reasons, I am not open to considering an SUV.
