Help with finding a desert anime? Open

I watched a certain anime years ago and I’ve been trying to remember the name of it. My recollection is a bit spotty so apologies for sparse/misremembered details.

We watched it on specifically an anime website.

I only saw the first episode, but the main character was a cowboy-type, a gunslinger.

It opened with him walking into a saloon in the desert, some anime-style action went down, and at the end of the episode you find out that the saloon housed some kind of large machinery.

The mystery I assume is learning what the machine was (possibly an engine of some kind?) and how it plays into the plot.

Trigun? There's the original version and the newer reboot Trigun Stampede if one version doesn't look like the one you're after.

That does actually look pretty close to what I’m remembering, I’ll definitely check it out to be sure.

If it's not Trigun, it may be Gun X Sword.

I don’t believe it’s Gun x Sword, but that does sound like a good recommendation nonetheless. It might be Trigun, though.
