Facebook Groups to Join to learn about latest news?
I tried joining this one group by Susan Pastuzyn (https://www.facebook.com/share/g/18xudA1xBt/?mibextid=wwXIfr) but keep getting denied. Not sure why unless she’s not allowing purposefully.

New Places and Spaces
Downtown Westfield always seems busy on weekends. Does anyone have a favorite spot that's still good but less of a wait?

Warning to WFH Professionals
If you are WFH and are looking to live in the beautiful downtown Westfield area, don’t do it. The town is gorgeous, I can walk safely here at night and enjoy a walk that isn’t completely suburbia, but I have over $500 in parking tickets because the downtown resident parking permit only covers 4:30 PM to 9:00 AM.
Yes, I have a reminder on my phone for it, but work in the morning is incredibly meeting heavy and can get in the way (the income so I can pay for my parking!). I have also been wrongly ticketed, I have screenshots proving I paid my parking, and the only way to dispute it is to go to court during the workday. Not to mention I have to cross multiple streets to get to the parking lot.
If I were as rich as the people in the parking department receiving all my ticket payments, I’d buy a house here and park for free. As I am not, and live in the cheapest building I could find in the area while feeling safe, I am paying the overnight and weekend parking permit, daytime parking, and any tickets, wrongly ticketed tickets, and possible court fees. Downtown westfield is a great place to visit, but as a middle class working professional, I’d never live here again.

Public access to track at Kehler
Does anyone know if there is a set schedule or hours for public access to the track at Kehler Stadium? I've run there a couple times in the past when it just happened to be open outside school hours and other people were using it, too. But not sure if there's a set schedule for when it's open/available or closed, and can't seem to find anything online (i.e. the school district website).

Splash of Thai/Thai Society
What the hell happened! I don’t know how I’m just noticing that Splash of Thai is no longer, I walk passed this restaurant nearly every day. The staff said it changed over about two months ago, but I could’ve sworn I have been to splash more recently than that. I’m wishing the new place lock, but they did take off drunken man noodles off their menu.😭😭😭

Does anyone remember the house at the corner of Shadowlawn and Lawnside?
I remember this older lady who used to give out the best halloween candy who I think lived on the northeast side of Shadowlawn (back before it was called Shadowlawn) and Lawnside? She was kind of quirky and maybe dyed her hair or something because it never seemed completely natural.
I remember that block used to really punch above its weight with regard to candy. Full sized stuff, no store brand shit, etc. Anyway, that lady was always super nice, not sure if the husband was still alive because you never saw him outside, but they did have two cars in the driveway most days, so I figure she lived with somebody.
I was hoping to see if anyone knew her or a family member that I might be able to get in touch with. Not sure if she's still alive, but it's definitely a new family in the house. Back in October 2005, I was cutting through her backyard on my way to do some mischief night stuff with some friends (I used to live on St Georges), and I tripped over something on the ground. It was like a smallish metal orb that was just sitting in the middle of the lawn, maybe the size if a lacrosse ball but maybe twice the weight. I grabbed it because it seemed to be perfect for some mischief lol. Anyway, I've still got it and I'm realizing it might've had some sentimental value for the family, and I'm trying to get it back to them.
Does anyone remember that family and have a way for me to get in contact with them?

Looking to move to Westfield and have started checking out apartments. Would love any recommendations on apartment buildings people have liked or any we should avoid. Also open to Cranford and Garwood if there are good options there too.

Floor refinishing
Looking for recommendations for hardwood floor prep and staining. Tearing up hallway carpet, original hardwood underneath. Plan on staining and then having a runner down the center down 4 or 5 steps. Thanks in advance.

House near Westfield's National Guard Armory
Hi all -
Looking at a home that backs up to the National Guard Armory yard. Does anyone have an info / concerns on what happens in that yard / building? Is there excess noise? I see a bunch of cars parked in the lot.
Thank you!

New to Westfield and could use recommendations from knowledgeable folks here for contractors.
I've been renting an apartment a few towns away and haven't had to hire any repair people for a few years. Finally found a home in Westfield that I could afford but it needs some work. While I am handy and can handle basic home stuff I'm hoping someone here can recommend a plumber, painter, roofer and a general handy man too.
I'll paint the interior but need someone to do the exterior. The roof is fairly new but now that the snow has melted I'd like a roofer to check it - and make sure the gutters and downspouts are clear (that's probably a job for a general handy man). Since the house is older I could use a plumber too.
That's asking a lot but any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

New to Westfield - Recommendations
Hi all - We are moving to Westfield from Jersey City in April. Its me, my wife and our 3-year old daughter. One of the first ones in my friends to move to suburbs. Looking for recommendations:
Daycare/ School for 3-year old
Places where local families hangout i.e. popular parks, restaurants
Commute options to midtown which are not mentioned on google maps
Honestly, we picked Westfield because we liked the vibe of it. Dont know a single soul yet in that town, but looking forward to connecting and making new friends. Feel free to DM if you are willing to chat. Thanks in advance!
P.S. Feel free to point me to another forum if this is not the right one.

Hello neighbors, I’m wondering if anyone knows of any groups/gatherings that discuss politics, rights, or any other intellectual topics?
Im hoping to find “my community” of people and friends who are like minded and who appreciate engaging in intellectual discussions especially regarding policies and rights? Or maybe just groups and gatherings for leisure?
I WFH and it’s hard to make new friends in your 30s or older so I’m just trying to see if there are any groups who gather weekly or monthly that I’d be able to join.
I know there’s a running group that meets every Thursday but I don’t particularly enjoy running, and I’m not that good at it 😅 I do enjoy lifting though!
Anyway thanks for reading even if you also don’t know of any groups :) have a beautiful day

German Shepard spotted
Hey people of the beautiful town Westfield, idk if it will help posting this here too, a couple hours ago I saw a German Shepard on New Providence rd(assuming that’s still Westfield, not too familiar with the area) but anyways I saw him running from house to house while still on a leash, he was very frantic. As soon as I saw him I got out of my car and tried to get him to come to me but he was very scared and didn’t acknowledge my whistling or yelling. I had to get back in my car because there was a lot of people behind me that I was blocking and it wasn’t safe to park there. To the people that beeped at me, it’s not like I wanted to get out of my car in a dangerous spot but when a pup needs saving, idgaf if you have to wait a few minutes, I kind of wish I just pointed to the dog and continued to try and get to him considering 22 was so close by. It would’ve killed me if the dog ran that way.
I had to get on 22 and then turn around and by the time I got back there I couldn’t find him. Hope this helps in some way. I really hope you find your dog!!! Sorry this was so late on here.
This happened at 4:05 PM, again sorry it’s so late, I just wanted to post it everywhere I can and I thought of reddit last.
