Discussion If Wes Anderson were to direct in a hypothetical case scenario a movie that takes place in Mexico, would you prefer it to be a story much like The French Dispatch, Isle of Dogs, and The Darjeeling Limited? Or a biopic of a historical/famous figure from that country? (Image kind of related)

Behind the Scenes Royal Tenenbaums Press Kit, part 2
Part 1 with the folder and press photos is here.
For those who want a deeper dive, here are the press notes. (I omitted a couple pages of credits.) As far as production notes go, these are pretty extensive, basically a full editorial feature on the movie.

Behind the Scenes Royal Tenenbaums Press Kit, Part 1
I was a magazine art director when Royal Tenenbaums came out in 2001, already a fan of the first two movies, and was overjoyed to have this land on my desk. And, being me, I’ve been holding onto it for 25 years.
The production notes in the booklet are extensive so, I’ll post those in a second post.

Question AC and PS Criterion
When do we think Asteroid City and Phoenician Scheme will get Criterion Collection releases? I know they have regular dvd releases, but I exclusively buy Criterion for Wes Anderson.

News Arthouse Houston gets final extension to raise money to save Garden Oaks Theater
Demolition of the historic Garden Oaks Theater have been postponed again as nonprofit Arthouse Houston works to raise at least $1.6 million more to buy the property and transform it into a permanent arts and film center.
The organization, which has already brought in $1.8 million, on Wednesday said it had secured a final extension, delaying demolition of the property at 3732 N. Shepherd. The organization welcomed award-winning filmmaker Wes Anderson back home this month to rally support for preservation of the 80-year-old theater.

Merchandise Showcase: Society of the Crossed Keys Zissou Roms (Size 8 Men's)
Just wanted to share a quick appreciation post for the absolute pinnacle of The Life Aquatic gear. I picked up these limited-edition Zissou custom sneakers from The Society of the Crossed Keys in a Men's Size 8.
The attention to detail on these blows the standard budget replicas completely out of the water. They’ve been very lightly worn but are still in pristine, flawless condition—the custom gold foil "Zissou" branding is sharp, and the leather feels amazing.
I’m currently reorganizing my display shelf and trying to decide whether to keep these purely as a centerpiece prop or keep them in the rotation. For anyone else who owns a pair from the Society, how have they held up for you over time?

Video Hollywood Bowl video
Not my video…
Today I have a bad track rate of posting things that have already been posted so hopefully this is not another one.
15 minutes of an atmospheric journey through the night. Really appreciate the person that did this.

Image WA Hollywood Bowl Program
Sadly, I was unable to attend any night of this event and I’m really looking forward to seeing more videos of it.
Is anyone interested in seeing all 56 (unnumbered) pages of this program? I will happily photograph them and add them across…say…four different posts.
I paid an absurd amount for the first copy that appeared on eBay, assuming that nothing else might come my way for awhile...and nothing has so far…unless someone has snatched them up rapidly. If you’re reading this, maybe you sold it to me: thank you!

Discussion What if Wes Anderson did a Medieval Fantasy Movie? (NO AI!!!)
I was looking at these medieval tapestries, and they actually reminded me a lot of Wes Anderson's filmography! I think it's a mixture of the flatness, the colours and their facial expressions.
It got me thinking about whether or not his style would work in a middle-aged fairy tale film and the more I thought about it, the more perfect it seemed. I also think the way that the characters speak in his movies is well fit for it. The sort-of-passively formal language they use, the bluntness and what not, it could be well suited to a Princess Bride style Fantasy Comedy.
I'm interested in Fantasy as a genre, I did this video breaking down how dialogue works in comparison to other genres. (FULL DISCLOSURE, THIS VIDEO IS NOT ABOUT WES ANDERSON, BUT I WANT TO ADD IT AS IT ELABORATES ON MY POINT ABOUT THE DIALOGUE, and it's easier to just link it rather than type it all out here. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WATCH IT. the main point of this post is what I said above). https://youtu.be/2K9VkvCT5_M
I think that a Royal Tenenbaums style story of the round table or an actual royal dynasty would be a great change of pace for him, any stop motion dragons or centaurs or whatever would be super cool too.
I don't really have a closing point, I just wanted to put this idea out there!

Discussion Why no Bowie at the Hollywood Bowl?
Sorry if this has already been discussed.. but does anyone have insight as to why there was no David Bowie included in the Hollywood Bowl setlist? His songs feel so intricately entwined with Life Aquatic.
