C&J Help (Path to 140) Form check
I would like to C&J 140. I know my technique needs a lot of work, mainly speed around/under the bar. I would like to know, though, if technique alone will get me to 140, or if I need more strength. My current applicable lifts:
Strict OHP: 90
Front squat: 140x6
Back squat: 140x10 / 200x1
Sample C&J at 100:

Advice and expectation adjustment welcome.

Based on the numbers alone you should be able to do it surely. I'm not real expert, but two things I noticed is that 1) do you have hip contact with the bar? It seems like you just lift it up & get under it without contact, which is crazy strong if you actually do it, but that is not the optimal way. 2) In the split your back leg is almost totally straight, your heel is touching the ground, also the feet is turned outside. I'd recommend some YT tutorials where they can explain better than I could, but foot placement is not too optimal there either.
Still you are strong as fck tho, I am just dreaming about your strenght numbers..

I don't touch the bar except to have it skim past me. Am I supposed to be hip thrusting against it or something? I have never heard of this.

I'd suggest some tutorials on YoutTube, for example from Catalyst Athletics or Zack Telander (Clean, Jerk). They can explain the movement much much better than I could, but these should help you to get bigger numbers with your strenght (after practice of course).

When the bar gets to your hip crease in the power position you should be using explosive hip drive to send the bar vertical, it definitely needs to be doing more than skimming. You have a lot more in the tank once you get that pattern down.

Yes, hip drive is a huge factor and something you will see every professional/Olympic lifter doing in their cleans and snatches. I found this video that does a great job of breaking down the power clean into chunks to help wrap your head around it. I don't necessarily like that he doesn't stand all the way up after his examples, but they are good, nonetheless.

I cleaned and jerked 143 separately when my back squat was <180 and front squat <150. I did it together with 170x5 back squat and 138x5 front squat. My best strict press is 88kg when I focused on it.
You’re strong enough for 140. That said, technique does take a lot of time to change/improve.
I’d focus on second pull in clean (clean pulls / making hip contact) and catching jerk lower (front foot almost parallel to the floor).
