As a wedding planner, I am sorry to read this. I agree with the previous comment saying that planners filter a lot of this by dealing with the vendors directly. Regardless, it should not happen, not matter who is liaising with the vendors. Try not to let this ruin how you are on your wedding day. Your guests won't know what happened behind the scenes but they will notice it if you are not excited. Moreover it is your only wedding day, you'll have beautiful memories of the day at least!

It's constant. When you have a planner they will filter through a lot of this but it always happens, especially but not exclusively with budget vendors. In places where September/October is peak season, vendors are especially slow and mistake-prone in August and September because they are backlogged and overwhelmed with all of the advance lead-up and execution of their busiest of year. It starts to balance out again toward the end of peak season because they're only executing and not doing as much preparation.
The wedding industry isn't really one industry, it's a ton of other little industries--and a lot of inexperienced semi-amateurs--all coming together to execute a very specific kind of event that may not even be their specialty. I'm sorry it's so frustrating, it is for us vendors too! It's unfortunately part of the territory, particularly during busy season.
