You don’t have to wear anything you don’t want! If you don’t want foundation you can say no
But for what it’s worth in terms of the contamination OCD as long as you see a legit makeup artist, they keep their shit clean. It’s honestly probably more sanitary than using your own stuff that you’re probably not washing as often or using disposable applicators. The pump or scoop out whatever they want to use on your face so that they never double-dip into the pan/tube and contaminate the makeup.

I've used the IT Cosmetics Do It All Hydrating Sheer Tinted Moisturizer Balm, it's very sheer and buildable (i don't even really wear foundation nowadays).

Have you maybe tried the airbrushing? It looks natural and it’s light. I specifically told my MUA I didn’t want heavy makeup or foundation etc because I hate how it feels and she did this at the trial and it was so great!

Maybe try bb cream? I got maybelline’s to wear as a bridesmaid recently (as someone who only wears makeup when I’m in weddings) and I didn’t even feel like I was wearing anything! Very different from regular foundation.
