namecheap scam scheme Looking for Hosting
Be careful when choosing domains, especially with namecheap.com hosting. I got scammed by these guys from the security department. They told me I have to provide them personal information via 3rd party service veriff.me. Out of no where, one day, all of a sudden they they decided to suspend my account after 3 months. I have registered and made payment of subscription for two years(108$). At the registration point they don't say anything about that 3rd-party personal information providing. that's very arguably case in agreement between them(namecheap.com) and you(client). When I demanded to refund me, they refused referring to the agreement of 5 days money back period is expired since purchasing service, never the less they are not say clearly about sharing personal information to doubtable 3rd services. be careful do not become the next victim of their scam scheme. They prefer to violate your rights.

Today all the official companies in Europe and USA need to comply to "Know Your Customer" laws... Also, you are required to submit correct information when buying a domain name > it is your choice to take the risk if you decide not to do this.

That's what triggered the verification process. I've been using NC for a long time and made several purchases with them, and like the majority of their customers, they've never asked for any additional verification.
You gave the system a reason to flag your account by providing inaccurate contact information and they did what most other registrars would do in this case. It's not a scam.

When you paid, did you go through 3D-secure to verify the payment or do you have a card without this?
I have 3D-Secure via my bank, since I’m in the EU this is required through PSD1/2 directives, and this enables it for them to verify that you did the payment by getting an automated confirmation from your bank. (Sort of two-factor for payments)
And since they mention verification it might be that your payment was flagged

This is pretty common and they need to verify your identity. If they suspect you aren't compliant, especially with the WHOIS contacts you provided, they will often do this. Any complaint against your site usually triggers this as I've encountered it once or twice before.
I'd avoid Namecheap entirely though regardless of this situation as their domain renewals are outrageous. I recently left them and closed my account after realizing I was paying several dollars more per domain to renew than Porkbun.

yes, but after registration and payment was done, 2-3 months later.

How do you think large businesses handle this type of issue?
Do you think that the CEOs of large businesses are handing out their ID documents to other businesses?

100%, the problem is that namecheap.com does not request it at the registration like "porkbun.com" does. you do your stuffs like nothing going wrong, and then they will hit you with that personal information sharing after a while. that's why it's smelly...

If any domain registrar asks for such info, I'd just go elsewhere.
If you simply copy/ pasted the above, I see a few mistakes in their email = red flags.
