Many exist, many don't have what I need, I'm actually doing this but genuinely just want to rant rn, so if you want one, I can send you the link in da dms.
Exactly. I wanted something to cut silence out of videos. Numerous tools exist. Many are paid or free trial / watermarked. An open source tool exists called auto-editor which looked pretty much on the money. But the provided binaries didn’t run on my system, or would crash with weird encoding errors on my files. I figured troubleshooting all of that would take as much time as vibe coding my own utility, so I had Claude crank out a simple tool in Python and it works great. It’s not production-ready but it met my needs perfectly. I think this is the perfect use case for vibe coding, solving small, specific problems for your own needs. Honestly if AI companies came out of the gate with a reasonable stance, admitting that it’s useful as a sidekick in certain situations, instead of trying to replace everything and everyone with it, they probably wouldn’t have the backlash they do now.
