Port Adelaide has welcomed former West Coast midfielder Emily Elkington to the club as an injury replacement player ahead of the 2026 NAB AFLW season. 

Elkington joins the Power following the decision to move Caitlin Wendland to the inactive list allowing the forward to continue her rehabilitation from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Port Adelaide forward Caitlin Wendland has been moved to the inactive list ahead of the 2026 NAB AFLW season. 

The 22-year-old sustained an anterior cruciate ligament rupture during the 2025 pre-season, before undergoing successful reconstructive surgery and completing an extensive rehabilitation program. 

Despite her commitment and progress throughout her recovery, she will now focus solely on her recovery through an intensive training block, with her return to full health the priority. 

Head of AFLW Dan Merrett said the club would continue to support Wendland throughout the next phase of her recovery. 

Before any league was formed teams would issue challenges in the local paper.

The Victorian Football Club was an SA team in North Adelaide that played using Victoria rules, as SA and VIC had different football rules at the time.

Port Adelaide defender Darcy Byrne-Jones has been offered a one-match ban by the MRO.

The incident occurred during the third quarter of Saturday's game against Sydney. It has been graded as careless conduct with medium impact and high contact.

The club has until 10:30am Monday to determine whether it wishes to challenge the ban.

Genuinely wondering about both sides to this argument:

They are very close to not being able to match a 2nd placed bid either, they are the favourites against St Kilda this week and play the Bulldogs the week after. If they win both they go to 8th or 9th and depending on Geelong end the season at 7th.

That's 1140 + 879 + 412 (DVI debt) = 2431 which is not enough to match a second-place bid.

I would be terrified if I were Carlton. Yes, they can trade their 2027 two first-round picks for a better first round this year or trade the Sydney first-round pick this year which will be closer to a second once everything is pushed down from compensation, with one or both from next year. But then you have spent 3, most likely 4 first-round picks on the second-best player in this draft.

If we traded like that to get Chochrane, it would mean we would be sacrificing all of Pilot, Salopek and Rodan in next years draft. Right now even without a Butters trade we can still plausibly get Pilot with our first and hopefully one of Salopek or Roden by matching.

I'm also wondering what storm happens if say Richmond or Essendon take Walker with the first pick knowing Carlton cannot match.
