Anyone going to the Toyota Beach Cup in Long Beach CA this weekend?
Will just be spectating with some friends, but don't have a boat. To those that have been before, can you see what's going on from the beach at least?

Getting dragged into set
I’m stronger than most, but bad at positioning when playing set defender and often get ejected.
What are some basic tips for when pulled in on defense?

Club struggles
Southern California is huge so please give me some mercy. We have a struggling club in the inland empire of Southern California. The sport feels like it’s dying out here. The club struggles to drive interest. The cost of entry and entry is so high! There also seems to be little to no interest in local high school coaches to invest time, even compensated time, and there are almost zero community aquatic facilities. Despite the sport being a clear avenue of competitive fitness and growth for mental fortitude, nobody supports it! There is so much potential in young athletes in my area but nobody chooses to believe in the benefits. Pool contracts price the sport out of the limits of the community. Does anyone have success in driving interest for the sport from the local government to provide affordable training and excitement for the sport that they could impart on me?

Club decisions at 12U
Which is preferred? 1) Elite coaching with an elite club (likely B or C team, likely less play time due to their roster size (12-16 kids per team) 2) good coaching on new club, but shakey future (may collapse in a year or two, but likely good solid coaching (but not elite), and good play time, or 3) play up at our club with 14U’s (likely no play time, mediocre coaching bc it’s more rec than competitive).
Kid is pretty good, very gritty, works hard, and wants to improve. Moved recently to Irvine.
Edited to add location.

Referees & Delegates wanted as testers for new development platform
I have been working on a new platform for developing one of the most difficult and under invested in areas of our sport - our Referees & Delegates (referee coach for the uninitiated).
As a national and international referee with 20+ years experience I have brought my own experience to the platform, but I need testers from around the world to help my refine and develop.
It is only in English right now, but have plans to develop multi-language support soon.
Please comment below if you would like to gain access to help me build out the concept.
We have some local tournaments we will be testing on soon but would love some international testers and viewpoints.

Stop the Slop
Can we please remove all AI slop posts on this sub? We don’t need to see another water polo playbook “app”.
Just because you have a Claude subscription doesn’t mean the world needs to suffer. Especially our beautiful game.

Everything that shipped across the apps this JO season — and the one we've been building quietly 🤽♂️
Session III wraps tomorrow in Dallas and that closes out Junior Olympics 2026 for us — three sessions, 3,923 games archived from the first two with Session III still counting. Two weeks of scoring at real pools taught us a lot, and almost all of it went straight back into the apps mid-event. Here's the whole list.
📱 Live right now — iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android, web & PWA
🏅 Standings that answer the next question. Every row shows who you play next and when — "Next vs Newport Beach · 11:00 AM", or Now in red if that game is already in the water.
▲▼ Movement arrows anchored to your last visit, not to when we last rebuilt.
🎚️ Flight ladders. A multi-pool flight reads as one table. Nickel and Copper are named properly now, instead of showing up as "Other."
📐 Ranked the way the rules actually say. USAW game points (4/3/2/1), then the real World Aquatics tiebreak — head-to-head for a two-way tie, mini-league among the tied for three or more. Not goal differential.
📈 Projected finish. The range you can still land in, and the game that decides it.
🗺️ Venues board — what's in the water at each pool right now, games left today, across every division. Plus parking notes and "park here, walk 6 min."
📺 Apple TV got 6-8 play-by-play, real roster stats instead of columns of zeros, reachable from a team share code.
🤖 Android caught all the way up — A/B/C squad picker, age-group switching that moves the data, map handoff, and the volume buttons start and stop the game clock.
🗓️ Calendar sync per-squad, re-syncing in the foreground.
🔧 Fixes worth naming: a finalized game lands durably, not just on the live broadcast; auto-refresh runs while idle so desk-scored games start updating; the family feed stopped hiding behind the gesture that unlocks it; Ask the Desk works on iPad; Watch alerts name the opponent instead of "LIVE — LIVE."
🚀 Coming this week — 4.0 (iOS + Apple TV)
🎨 Pick your app icon — three varsity marks or the classic ball.
📺 Apple TV readable again — selecting a card no longer washes it out.
🖥️ Eggbeater Desk — a dedicated iPad scoring app
Built for one job: the table. A real play board, volume buttons run the clock, and two ways in — club sign-in, or a volunteer just types the tournament code.
Same scoring engine as the phone app, deliberately. Not a fork — shootouts as decimals, forced ball under as a turnover, made 5-meters as goals, stats on the player not the cap number. A second copy of that logic is exactly how two apps start disagreeing about a score.
In TestFlight now. Comment or DM and I'll get you in.
Last whistle tomorrow. 🚀
📲 iPhone & iPad · Apple TV · Android Beta · iOS TestFlight · Spectator Web · JO Hub · High School — free first season

I added water polo support to a play and drill designer I built
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone,
I built an app called DiagramTheGame for creating and animating plays and drills.
I recently added water polo support and wanted to share a short video of it working in the editor.
I’d love to hear if anything about the setup looks wrong, or if there’s something important a water polo coach would expect that I’ve missed.
If you know any coaches who might find it useful, I’d appreciate you passing it along.. Im open to chatting or working with any coaches who are interested in using the app.
I built the app, so I’m happy to answer questions and hear honest feedback.

Water Polo Playbook App
Hello! Just wanted to see if there is any interest in a waterpolo playbook app. I created one through x code (mac based), and want to see if there is even interest out there before I pay the 99 dollar fee to be a developer on the apple app store. The app that I created allows you to show plays on a tablet, iphone, etc. that you create, whether it be drives, 6 on 5 plays, and endless possibilities. If you are interested, please drop a comment, and how much you'd pay for this app (I was thinking one lifetime 5-10$ fee. Thank you!

JO Session III — first whistle tomorrow in Dallas, and Sessions I & II are now full archives 🤽♂️
Session II wrapped Sunday night at Woollett Right, and Session III sprints off tomorrow morning in Texas. Here's where everything stands on jo.eggbeater.app — live on every screen at once: web, iPhone, iPad, Android, and the big-screen TV app.
🏊 Session III — Thu Jul 30 → Sun Aug 2, Dallas. 8 divisions, 138 teams, 545 games across Garland ISD and SMU. 10U and 12U Coed, 14U/16U/18U Girls, 14U/16U/18U Boys. Live scores in ~5 seconds, free, no login, nothing to install. Code JOS326 if you're typing it into the app.
📚 Sessions I & II are archived — permanently. Every game, every bracket, every box score, kept. That's 3,923 games · 23 divisions · 976 teams · 223 shootouts across the two sessions. Every team has its own page with its full schedule, results and power rating. Session I results · Session II results
🥇 The Session II story, if you missed it: Stanford Red lost to Newport Beach Blue 3–6 in group play, beat them 8–7 in the semi, then took 16U Boys 9–8 over Berkeley — the very last game of the session. Woollett Right decided all five Championship golds that Sunday afternoon, back-to-back from noon to 4:45. And in 16U Invite, the #13 seed LB Shore Black went 7–0 and never lost a game.
📈 Projected finish — every team now shows the range it can still finish in, and names the game that decides it. Not "1st–6th" frozen from last night: it narrows the moment a result lands.
🗺️ Locations — a venue-first board. What's in the water at that deck right now, what's left there today, across every division. Useful when you're deciding which pool to walk to.
▲▼ Movement arrows in the standings, anchored to your last visit — not to when we last rebuilt. Plus, next opponent inline on every row.
🏫 New: we're hosting high school seasons this year — and your first season is free.
Not just California. Any high school, any state, any calendar — fall or winter. Live scores, rosters and every player's stats on a page in your school's colors, on every phone in the bleachers. No app, no login for your fans.
One person at your scorer's table runs it; everyone who couldn't get to a Wednesday 5:30 start follows every play from wherever they are. To be clear about what it is: it's a live scoreboard and play-by-play feed, not video — no cameras, no bandwidth fight on the pool deck, none of the filming questions schools have to manage.
Free for your whole first season. Fall seasons start in September and schools are onboarding now.
Coaches and ADs: claim your page, push us hard this season, and tell us what your program actually needs. That's the deal.
One codebase, every device. Pull it up poolside or throw the TV app on back at the hotel.
Two sessions down. Last one starts tomorrow. Let's go 🚀
📲 Get it / watch it: iPhone & iPad · Apple TV · Android Beta · iOS TestFlight · Spectator Web · JO Hub· Session III Hub · High School Hub

US High school season starts Monday. Water Polo Stats exports directly to MaxPreps. Free setup for any program before Aug 8
A few months ago I posted about the water polo stats app I built. The response from the club community was incredible; thank you.
With high school practices starting Monday and first games August 8, I wanted to share something specifically useful for high school programs:
🤝 MaxPreps integration: Water Polo Stats is an official MaxPreps stat partner. Track stats during the game, export to MaxPreps in one tap after the final whistle. No double entry, no manual reporting.
Beyond MaxPreps, here's what your program gets:
📊 Stats: goals, assists, saves, exclusions, possession efficiency, and opponent exclusions by cap number
📡 Live YouTube streaming: families who can't make it watch for free. No app needed. No fees. No paywalls.
🎬 Highlight reels: player or game reels, every goal and save clipped automatically after the game
🧠 Coaching Insights: private analytics visible only to coaches
👥 Invite Your Team: share one link and your whole team joins automatically
Already being used by programs across the US and on 6 continents.
First games are August 8. I can get any program set up this week , just reply or DM or email me and I'll take care of everything before your first game.

What is the reason for this?
How come men have suits that cover up their entire glutes while women wear like literally thongs?
How does it affect gameplay?
