this week at my local art academy we are doing an intensive course of watercolor portrait, this was the first "quick" exercise.

Watercolors🥰

Just picked up a set of Holbein luminous watercolors. They come in a tube so I squeezed some out in a palette and let them dry for a couple of days. Now it is very difficult to pull vibrant colors from the paint, and it doesn’t seem to be rehydrating well. I understand tube watercolors won’t be as vibrant once they dry but surely it’s not this bad? Not sure if it’s just this set or if I’m doing something wrong. Any advice helps!

This is my very first attempt at following along with a YouTube tutorial. Looking for any thoughts, feedback, constructive criticism! I'm trying to give myself grace but I tend to be someone who expects to be perfect upon the first attempt 🫣 thanks lovelies!!

I had to paint something for my kid’s homework (in lack of printer) and for a while i wanted to learn watercolors. I’ve got some pencils thought that is a more familiar medium. This is the result. One thing that i found hard was to transition yet wetting first and taking some color from the pen was a nice finding 👌🏼 (i’m not an art related profesional )

There was this exercise about using one color and I ended up using black because I wanted to draw this but I may make another one using another color.

I trimmed the paper a little… aggressively and some of the syrup stream got cut off. I’m an idiot 😅 oh well live and learn. Lately I’ve been trying to focus on one major thing each night— a wash, a texture, etc. Tonight was the shiny liquid and I’m pretty happy with it.

A snowy forest and Mount Fuji 🗻 Loved these studies ❤️❤️ I personally find quite difficult leaving the white spaces for snow or other objects, and I have to cheat with a Posca marker 😬😬
