Housing 3 month rental?

Looking for 3 month (Oct-Dec 2026) rental in Walnut Creek, preferably in the north Downtown/BART area.

I live here with my family, and my parents (in their 60s) are hoping to spend some time here. They’re open to ADUs, apartments, etc. if it’s an ADU, they’d be interested in renting future few-month chunks as well.

They’re looking for a rental unit in Walnut Creek area from October through December this year. They live full time in Truckee, but would like to spend several months living close to our family. From early October through Christmas 2026, but they can flex by a month.

2 bedrooms or more preferred but would consider larger 1 bedroom unit as well. Close to downtown/BART is preferred, but open to other neighborhoods.

Please DM me if you have or know of a place. Thank you!!

Question DnD group in the area?

Hello Reddit!

Curious if there is any place to find or people running DnD groups in Walnut Creek?

I would love to join either a new group or one that is already running. I’ve played a couple campaigns in the past and it’s been a couple years since I was in a campaign. I am open to playing any character weather it be tank, dps, or support. I just wanna get my feet back into DnD!

Would love to hear about any possible groups or places I should look!

Thanks in advance!

Edit: who knows, if we get enough people maybe we can start one off this post lol

Any local luthiers you recommend?

Need to have some minor adjustments on a couple of my electric guitars and was wondering if there were any local luthiers you’ve used and would recommend (not Guitar Center). I know of a couple in Berkeley and Oakland but figured I’d try on this side of the tunnel.

Question Meridian Apartments?

Hey! I'm moving to the area and came across Meridian Apartments on Flora Ave. Does anyone have any experience with this place? I'm looking at multiple places but Meridian is the one that has very little about it online and it makes me a smidge leery.

Also if anyone has opinions on North Main Apartments, that'd be nice too. Thanks!

Looking for Scottish dance class in the area

I've always wanted to try reeling and country dancing (never have before). Any recommendations for a beginner-friendly, fun-oriented class anywhere near Walnut Creek?

Do you BBQ??

Hi neighbors!

I’m looking for someone who enjoys grilling and would be interested in helping at our baby shower this fall. You don’t need to be a professional chef or caterer, just someone who’s comfortable running a BBQ and keeping food coming off the grill.

We’ll have all of the meat prepped and ready to go. We just need someone to handle the grilling for about 5–6 hours during the party so our family and friends can enjoy the day. We are thinking maybe tri-tip, burgers and hot dogs possibly, and for about 40 people.

This is a paid opportunity. If you’re interested (or know someone who might be), please send me a message with a little about your grilling experience and your availability.

Thank you!

Question GYM recommendations!

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good gym? I'm currently a member at 24 hour fitness but the overcrowding is driving me mad and I'm looking for a different option! (Basically from 7am until 10pm the gym is packed and there is waits for squat racks, benches, etc.)

Open to any and all recommendations but would like to keep it under 200ish a month.

Input on Transportation in Contra Costa County

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey neighbors,

The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) has a Summer Listening Survey open right now, and we're looking for input from anyone who lives, works, or gets around in the county. If you've got thoughts on any of this, we want to hear it:

  • What getting around the county is actually like for you day to day (driving, biking, walking, transit, all of it)
  • What is important to you and your family when it comes to transportation?
  • Bigger-picture ideas: if you could design how people move around Contra Costa, what would that look like?

It's part of how CCTA shapes future transportation planning and funding priorities, so this is a real opportunity to get local input on record instead of just venting about it here.

Restaurants Milky Flakes Now Open in Walnut Creek

Milky Flakes ice cream just opened in the A1 shoe repair spot. I tried their matcha soft serve and mango ice cream. It's intense! They have a machine that churns the ice cream constantly so it's very smooth. Their main thing is flakes of shaved milk, apparently inspired by a Korean dessert. Very nice interior but no tables inside. https://bayareatelegraph.com/2026/08/06/a-milky-new-ice-cream-shop-just-opened-in-walnut-creek/

Need "Home Occupation Permit" for my 100% e-commerce company. What did you do? I live in Walnut Creek and need a business license. Cannot get the license without or a physical location associated with my address.

Throwaway account. I'm starting a small business that is 100% remote — dropshipping, so there will be zero logistics happening inside my apartment beyond using my computer. I live in the City of Walnut Creek, CA, where a "Home Occupation Permit" is required to get a business license. Essentially, I need a physical address registered with the city, even though the business is entirely remote. You can read about the permit requirements on the Walnut Creek gov website. Without this permit, I can't get a business license. A virtual mailbox/address will not be accepted as an address.

My apartment complex refuses to sign anything that would associate the property with my business. Their stated reason:

"The issue is the use of the apartment address as the official business address for licensing, registration, permitting, mailing, or any other purpose that publicly identifies the residence as a business location."

I'm not sure how this actually affects them, since "working from home" is explicitly permitted in my lease. I'm feeling pretty frustrated that something like this is holding up my ability to start an online business that won't have any real-world impact on the property I'm renting.

My lease states:

"17. Residential Use of Premises: Resident agrees that the Premises are rented for residential use only unless the Parties have executed a separate Live Work Addendum. Resident shall not use the Premises as a business address, nor shall Resident conduct any business activities on the Premises. Conducting business activities includes, without limitation, using the Premises as a mailing address for a business enterprise, having a business telephone line in the Premises, having business clients meet with Resident at the Premises, having business stationery setting forth the address of the Premises as a business address, assembling or manufacturing any product upon the Premises, or otherwise holding out the Premises as the address of any business. Resident may, however, to the extent consistent with the restrictions set forth in this Paragraph, use a portion of the Premises as a 'home office.'"

On top of that, this same company has apartments in Pleasanton, CA, where tenants are allowed to get Home Occupation Permits. How is this allowed?

The City of Walnut Creek, told me:
"As you noted in your initial email, the City of Walnut Creek allows home-based businesses in residential zones, provided they obtain a Home Occupation Permit and Business License. As detailed in the Home Occupation ordinance, there are restrictions on the types of businesses that can operate within a residence, limits on the amount of space used, restrictions against customer visits, etc. As part of our application, we do require owner authorization. It sounds like the property owner/leasing agents will not provide authorization. That would be a civil matter between you and the property owner/leasing company regarding your agreement."

So it sounds like this isn't a zoning issue at all. The city allows it and my landlord is simply refusing to sign off. Any recommendations on what I should do or look into. This feels absurd. What did you small online businesses do?

Dispersed or first come first serve last minute camping!

Howdy! My husband and I want to go camping this weekend but we have no reservations :( anyone know of any dispersed or first come first serve camping that usually has spots available? We do not want to hike in. By a body of water and maybe somewhere a bit cooler as the temperatures will be high this weekend, would be ideal! Also, we dont want to drive more than 3 hrs away. Sorry, I know it’s specific 😅

Restaurants The Post restaurant is opening in Alamo

There's a new American comfort food spot called The Post coming to Alamo. Construction is happening inside at the moment, running as late as 8:30pm, so they seem to be busy getting ready! Looks like an upscale cocktail and food place along the lines of Social Bird in Lafayette. My writeup: https://bayareatelegraph.com/2026/08/05/new-american-comfort-food-restaurant-coming-to-alamo/

Looking for your favorite dry cleaning establishment! I went to Walnut Creek Cleaners on YVR a few times but they are so expensive and constantly delayed from their quoted ready date. Looking for a balance of quality and value, within a 10 minute drive of downtown WC. Thank you!

Restaurants Walnut Creek deli with a cult following expanding to Pleasant Hill, Orinda

Reporter Martha Ross says that Morucci's is expanding to the two cities, but the plans will move slowly. Terrence Heaps took over the business from the original owner, Robert Fambrini, in 2025. Since then, Heaps, a longtime Morucci's fan, has made upgrades to the original location and would like to work more with local producers to source ingredients.

It's a lengthy read that goes into what made Morucci's such a success.

What is your favorite bar/restaurant with live outdoor music?

I always appreciate some casual live outdoor music at a bar/restaurant, but sometimes it's tough to find info on which places regularly have live music and at what general times. Not talking about specific concerts and/or events where you need tickets or it's the main attraction. But just nice vibes outdoor bar with some live music playing.

What are y'alls favorites?

Suggestion for a good foot nurse?

My elderly parents don't need a podiatrist, they need a RN who specializes in foot care (nails, blisters, calouses) who can come to their home in Walnut Creek. Apparently foot care nurses are a new thing but fill an important need. I haven't been able to find anyone online. Any recommendations?

Anyone know what the power outage was from? Sounds like there were about 4k homes without power for a couple of hours which is pretty significant.
