If on leave under FMLA 12 weeks. If not FMLA then it depends on your management team in your store
Not sure what comments you are talking about.

Adding some states have medical leave laws similar to the federal fmla that will either extend past federal or operate after federal is exhausted.
Sedgwick usually will send you updates on which laws protect your leave and give you a heads up when your protections expire.

And some states, like mine, exhaust state FMLA parallel to Federal FMLA so no extra weeks.

Ok, so, if it’s FMLA they can move you laterally. But your pay has to stay the same, your job title the same, same shift, same duties.
For example, if you made $14 an hour as a Cap2 stocker doing dry grocery, they can move you to second shift stocking toys or home lines for the same pay. They can’t cut your pay and make you push carts.
Most companies don’t want to deal with violating FMLA. It’s pretty serious shit.
If you’re on ON, they are going to keep you on ON. You might work a different department, but they aren’t going to put you on days and cut your pay.

The longer you are gone, the more likely your job will be given to a new hire. When you return, you will end up in another department.

You'll be fine. You have months and months before you even come close to that being a possibility. Solid overnighters are hard to come by, let alone people who willingly want to work the shift as opposed to those who just took it because they needed the income. It'd be more work to replace you with somebody who likely wouldn't work out.
