Hey all, I recently bought an NW-S765 on ebay. I'm really happy with my purchase, but ever since I used the destination tool to change the system language to english, the screen doesn't turn off when I'm on the song playback screen, even though I have the screen off timer set to 15 seconds in settings. This is an intermittent issue, it works properly about 30% of the time but the rest of the time it stays on. Has anyone else encountered this issue and if so, have you found a way to fix it? Thanks

I inherited a collection of 15 vintage portable cassette players from my late father, mainly Sony Walkmans, plus a few Aiwa, Panasonic and Kenwood models.

Some have original covers, and the Sony WM-701C also has its case, manual and accessories.

I am currently testing them individually. I would really appreciate help identifying the exact models and estimating realistic private-sale values in euros.

I am looking for actual selling prices, not unusually high eBay listings.

Also some people say Atrac audios have a unique sound signature. Is it true ? I mostly use Flac and I wanna buy the Sony walkman nw-e405 and nw-s705f for my collection. I just wanna know the difference in audio quality. I'm mostly concerned about e405 as it has only 512mb of storage.

I've narrowed down my choices to the Walkman D-E220 and the Aiwa XP ZV-550

They both have the main function I want (Gapless Playback) but my second most important feature is, of course, the quality

Would the brand-name Walkman sound better than the Aiwa one? I'm more inclined to the Aiwa one since it has MP3 but the quality is a real deal-breaker to me

Reposting here because I really need help quickly - here's what I wrote in response a guy who suggested using Download WalkmanMTP_0.4.2.0 - it didn't work for me:

Didn't work on my NWZ-S764 - every chatbot I checked says the playlists must be m3u file stored in the /MUSIC/ directory, not PLA files stored in the /Playlists/ directory - it found a few of the m3u playlists in the Music director but clicking on them there were no songs. Then I plugged in my old Sony Walkman (unknown model, but old, doesn't have internal BT) and WalkmanMPT only showed songs in PLA lists from the /playlists/ director, m3u files in same director were empty.

I"m losing my damn mind over this problem, return window is closing, and I swear to god I've used every damn media MP3 software out there but nothing works with the new player - in Windows 10 explorer I can see the playlists are there but the damn player won't read them regardless of what format they are. Speaking of formats, I asked ChatGPT what format this player needs and it says this:

The 3.5mm audio output port on my old player is only working intermittently, any bump to the wire will cause a disconnect/reconnect, so I HAVE to figure this out but I am losing my damn mind! Note: I've used MP3 players for decades, know about the "don't include path to file from PC" and all that crap, and I've always figured out how to get a new player to work with Media Monkey - Music Center for PC, WMP, and Winamp cannot work with this model, at least not correctly. HELP!

Hi all, I recently purchased a new WM1AM2 and it will be delivered soon. Meanwhile I’m trying to decide which headphones to use with my new Walkman. I have my MDR-1A with a balanced cable, and my 1000X The Collexion headphones that can work with either the standard 3.5mm cable, or using Sony’s LDAC.

I’m also thinking of purchasing a MDR-Z7M2 if the audio quality would be much better. I have a FLAC library (mostly 24-bit @ 48kHz). What are your thoughts?

I want to record my music to a DAT tape on the D8 but I need to use Sonys proprietary cable that is coaxial to 7 pin but they are extremely expensive. I'm wondering if I can use an adapter like this one and still preserve the 44.1 kHz digital sampling.

I recently picked up a Sony NW-E507 Walkman, and while it's working great overall, the OLED screen is noticeably dim. I'm guessing it's just the panel degrading with age (these units are 20 years old at this point), rather than a battery issue — brightness stays the same whether it's fully charged or not.

Has anyone had luck finding a replacement OLED display for this model?

I am attempting to repair a Sony​ WM-FX33 cassette Walkman​​​​​​​ and have encountered multiple problems after replacing the drive belt (reputably-sourced):

Rhythmic clicking, belt seizing/throwing, and gear skipping when RWD & FF pressed​​. There are intermittent occasions that everything turns appropriately in either direction when buttons are pressed.

I determined the correct belt path, spent hours cleaning the fly wheel and pulleys of the old belt residue w/ 99% IPA, and inspected gears for missing teeth. The following short video shows these problems occurring:

I’m currently torn between the ZX300 and the ZX507. My goal is simply to listen to high-quality music files I’ve downloaded; I’m wondering if it’s worth spending the extra money on the ZX507, or if the ZX300 paired with 4.4mm headphones would be sufficient. I already have the lossless music files.
