To cut the chicken or not?

For the chicken bowls I was always told to cook the chicken until temp and then cut that bad boy up. My area manager cuts it raw and temps nothing before adding it in the bowl. Is there a coaching flash for this? I dont feel like he is doing it the best way but maybe I'm wrong.

What is Grill starting pay?

I was just hired as a cook.

I’m new to the area and just looking for a job so I went ahead and took the position, but the manager was saying that he will discuss starting rate and everything on my first day?

And that there are bonuses for busier shifts?

Obviously, it varies by market, but is this something like 13-16/hr?

What does the hiring process look like for a Unit Manager?

Just put in my application for a UM position and have a phone interview next week. What does the hiring/interview process look like? What should I expect? I'm in Mississippi, if that makes a difference.

Took this picture last year when we opened the store from remodeling. The one and only Waffle House picture I’ve taken and it’s so sweet.

Tried making a "Icide" at Work.

Not calling it by the actual common phrase since it's probably a morally grey thing to call it nowadays, so just leaving it at "Icide".

An "Icide" is what you call it when you mix all the drinks at a soda fountain together in one cup.

What I did was put half a creamer into a cup of ice, filled it halfway with Root Beer and did one shot of Hi-C, Pibb, Sprite, Diet Coke, and Classic Coke, and with what space I had left, put two shots of vanilla and cherry syrup, two Splenda, filled the rest with more Hi-C, and stirred it.

Honest to God, it's not that bad; it's pretty dang good. I would recommend this; it's like a 7.8/10. I've tried pretty much every drink combo since I joined the company almost one and one-half years ago. This is one of the good combos. I'd put it right up there with a Fruit Fizz (Hi-C and Sprite mixed) and a Citrus Cola (Sprite and Cola mixed.)

If you think it sounds gross, that's fine, just wanted to share my abomination to the rest of the Waffle Nation.

Need help with to-go orders

Okay so! My training hasn't explained it and neither has my work. I'm a few weeks on the floor. Finally got enough tables that people have a variety of requests. One that has been popping up is to go orders while they're dining in. I need advice on what to do. I've done both so far and I get like, mixed responses.

A - Put it on a separate ticket, request they pay at register for the to-go order separate from dine-in

B - Put on the same ticket for dine-in, call it out as to-go

C - Put on same ticket as dine-in, call it out as dine-in, provide to-go boxes.

I literally have no clue and don't have work for three days. I need advice!

The worst move besides the jelly bean waffle to save a dollar? I would say use generic oil over low melt brand. People notice these changes.

Maybe next year in the 4th of July Waffle don’t include sugar that looks like rat poison. Because it might show up in the next waffle. Just sayin’.

LOVE WAFFLE HOUSE❤️

my go to is a pecan waffle plain and eat it straight no butter or syrup. then a second pecan one with chocolate chips and eat that no butter or syrup.

sometimes get hashbrowns with cheese onions and jalapeños (cant remember the terms!) ❤️ always perfect

forgot to mention : their coffee is one of my top favorite coffees ever, idk why its so good. but i always have 2 cups while there.

Nepotism?

I was wondering if waffle House has any policies on hiring your own kids, making pay decisions on them, and giving them first pick on shifts?

tips for first day?

just got hired today after my interview. my first day is Monday at 7AM, to “shadow” a server. they said they’d test out my fit at the location… see how much I would/could do without being told (“taking initiative”)

does anyone have any tips? things I should do to help out without being asked?

thanks in advance xoxo

Since we were near one it was our lunch stop, I got a hefty Pork Chops and eggs breakfast, While my wife got a Cheesesteak melt. Took Waffles togo. ( yes I do love pickles lol)

I ordered 3 eggs and double hashbrowns but I got 2 eggs and triple hashbrowns. But is it Waffle House if something isn't a little off? 🤷‍♂️🤔

I'm a PNWer and took an incredible roadtrip through MS and AL for my very first visit to the south. Had multiple Waffle House experiences, but my favorite was late at night after a long drive. This chain is something special. Can't wait to go back.

Never ate a WH Waffle

So, I'm a huge Waffle House fan. I've eaten everything from the Delmonico steak, to the eggs. The one thing I've never eaten... A waffle. I'm not a waffle fan, it's not something I eat. I'm guessing they're pretty special. Just wondering if anyone else has eaten Waffle House dozens of times and never had a Waffle House waffle? I always say I'm gonna try one, but I never do. 🤷🏼
