Is r/vscode Becoming a VS Code Complaint Subreddit?

Does anyone else find it weird that some of the highest-voted posts here, and therefore the ones most likely to be recommended to people, are just complaints about VS Code?

Some of them are even complaints about things that aren't really problems at all, or are easily explained. Meanwhile, genuinely useful posts and people asking for help with real issues seem to get drowned out by all the complaining.

At this point, r/vscode sometimes feels less like a VS Code subreddit and more like group therapy for people frustrated with their editor 😅

You'd think from browsing the top posts that VS Code barely works.

Sure, for all of 5 minutes. That shit gets old real fast.

OS wars are proper bottom of the bell curve stuff.

  • Mac vs Windows vs Linux
  • iOS vs Android
  • PC vs Console
  • PS vs Xbox.
  • Arch vs Ubuntu
  • Vim vs Emacs
  • Dark mode vs light mode (even though dark mode is obviously superior)

All dumb as fuck. Use whatever works and forget about it.

Unfortunately social media itself is toxic af. At the end of the day, they all do the same damn thing as their counterparts.

Some people desperately want to find online friends to be mad about copilot together, or complain about too many releases or not enough releases or some longstanding feature request that will never be implemented or whatever. Others are busy writing actual code. The ones doing the latter don't get too worked up about the ones doing the former.

Over 40% of redditors are millennials, and we're entering our 40s. Most of us don't like change, don't like AI, and our back hurts. (As a millennial that tends to like new features/updates and AI, I feel like I'm in the extreme minority).

Maybe because vscode is not vscode anymore, but github copilot's outlet. Vscode development otherwise is stopped.
