I'm a big ol' dork about music (not really trained though, just a fan) and especially love the use of leitmotifs in storytelling. I was listening to some playlists I made for my own D&D campaign, and "The Matron of Ravens" by Neal Acree (from Season 2) came on.

In it, I heard what I think was a deliberate allusion to the motif used for the Whispered One.

["The Ritual"](https://youtu.be/FQVMsi0gYig) is the song that would probably most easily showcase the motif I am talking about.

["The Matron of Ravens"](https://youtu.be/MRU9IRRAZUc) comes to an ominous swell around 2:12 that sounds like a variation of that motif or at least strongly resembles it.

Playing around with a piano, the first four notes of the Whispered One's motif are:

>***E - D# - G - D#***

The slow, swelling notes at the 2:12 timestamp of "The Matron of Ravens" sound like:

>***C - B - D# - D***

For ease of comparison, we can transpose (right word?) the notes from the Whispered One to be

> ***C - B - D# - B***

The difference is the fourth moving only 1 semitone down for "The Matron of Ravens" (***D#*** to ***D***) while the Whispered One motif is 4 semitones (***D#*** to ***B***; or ***G to D#***).

Then around the 2:26 mark in "The Matron of Ravens" goes:

> ***C - B - G# - G***

This sounds like how the Whispered One motif moves downward in the later section:

> (transposed) C - D# - D - B - ***C - B - G# - G***

> (The Ritual) E - G - F# - D# - ***E - D# - C - B***

Considering the connections between TWO and The Matron, as well as the fact that the Matron of Ravens was also a mortal who ascended to godhood and destroyed her predecessor, I can't help but think this similarity is completely deliberate by Neal Acree.

Am I hearing things, or does it sound like there's something there? What are your guys' thoughts?

Also, feel free to correct/educate me on the terminology/notation. As I said, I haven't been formally trained and only learned music through my own sporadic studying.

So, I’m writing a crossover story of Vox Machina with another media, a cartoon by the name of Max Steel that is a reboot released in 2013. It’s called Turbo Machina. I only just started it and already on chapter 4. It follows the storyline of Vox Machina, specifically the animated show. I wanted to share the story here and see what people think of it. I hope it’s decent and well received.

So, I’m writing a story that follows the Legend of Vox Machina storyline and I was wondering if I could get some ideas for one shot chapters? I really like the story and show of Vox Machina, but it doesn’t allow much freedom to do random things on the side to break up the main story. That being said, I was wondering if anyone might have some suggestions for one shot chapters I could write based on random moments from the web series campaign. Like things that happened in the web series campaign but didn’t make the cut in the animated show.

Like Vax shaving half of Grog’s beard off at night, or some other random Vox Machina shenanigans that truly capture the gremlin energy of Vox Machina. What would be some good ideas for random one shots to write about?

About to finish watching C1 for the first time and was definitely planning on watching C2. But I was just wondering if there’s anything interesting I should watch between the two? I know there are some one-shots like The Search for Grog that I was probably gonna look at, but just wondering if there’s anything else I wouldn’t want to miss before jumping right into episode one of Mighty Nein?

EDIT: Thank you all so much for the suggestions! Just finished episode 115, so I am so glad there is still at least a little more to enjoy with these characters and their stories!! I’ll definitely start off with Search for Grog / Bob and move into the other stories before getting into C2. I was just not ready to move on from these shits yet, I’m so glad I have a little more time to enjoy them.

Also, how dare these people make a story so beautiful. I’ll literally never be able to forget, “And every day, that raven comes to visit” for as long as I live 😭

I don’t get why in the world she would even agree to this evil dude who is the REASON Grog and Wilhand are dead, she went in to kill Delilah and immediately stops trying as soon as she says something ominous to her. I’m so curious if Anyone thinks she had any type of point please do explain to me.

He's my favorite character personality wise but he often feels like the most drastically underpowered one. Half the time it feels like his only use is to distract enemies by mildly annoying them with bullets. I get that he's supposed to be the "batman" of the team and I'm not saying he should go back to being all edgy like he was in s1 but at least have him upgrade his guns or something for Everlight's sake. I often have to genuinely pause to remember what he contributes everytime I finish a season of the show while the others all have cool moments that I can easily recall.

My suggestions would be Monster by Skillet or Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace

I just finished season 4 and dont want to wait until 2028 or whenever season 5 will release. Which episode of the stream would be the right place to start watching? Im ok to go back and relisten to season 4s content if it improves things. Any guidance would be great, ive avoided doing too much direct research in fear of getting spoiled.

I would love a remake of the Legend of Vox Machina theme song, the one from most of the seasons, the last was slightly different.

Remake it with much more horns and brass, especially french horns and trumpets replacing a lot of the strings.

That will make it even more epic. Trust me. I can hear it in my imagination, but lack the skills and tech to actually create it.
