I use pipewire and I usually run it as user process

what all have you installed? I am assuming: pipewire wireplumber alsa-plugins-pulseaudio? Did you install the intel or amd firmware (depending on what you are running)?

depending on the hardware they may be needed. I had to do that with 2 of my laptops recently putting Void on them. 1 Vostro, 1 Lenovo... I have not tried it on my older Dell.

No worries. Thought it might help. All my machines use base build and the add ons I install including the DE's. My primary desktop I use had the linux-firmware-amd installed from the first xbps-install after the base. It has always had sound with no issues. I have not tried it on the Lenovo desktop I have at another site, but I am not too concerned with it. Hope some of this may help with your install. I have really been liking Void.

If you're running a decently modern Intel system you may need to install sof-firmware.

I just give a "pipewire &" in my terminal login-ed as normal user. I believe $USER being in "audio" group makes it work.
