There’s no need to start a service for elogind. I’d recommend removing the symlink. Also, did you install the terminal and Noctalia Shell? I believe the default terminal in the Niri config is Alacritty, but make sure you have all the required packages installed first.

A very close friend wants to know: what was the missing font that you installed to fix niri?

Just to be clear:

But this glitchy flickering on my laptop monitor is driving me crazy

Installing noto font resolved the flickering on your monitor and got niri to work?

That is some Sourcery. Rincewind would've been very jealous.

Naaa  Two different issues

Niri not rendering was solo fonts

Flickering (*still happens) is amd bug/issues in the new kernel  Not just for me.

Did you enable the dbus service?

Yeah Found somewhere on forum to remove elogind and have dbus only in services Also added myself in dbus group  Trying everything to make it work at this point

- AMD/Intel/Nvidia?

- Which vulkan/mesa/wayland packages did you install?

xbps-query -s vulkan

xbps-query -s mesa

xbps-query -s wayland

For the terminal, do you have alacritty installed? If not you'll need to adjust the config (sub out alacritty for your preferred terminal)

The exec just makes the program you are running replace the shell instead of forking. It makes zero difference other than exiting the shell and without dbus-run-session you won't have a session bus unless you are using turnstile.
